My fantastic son taped the show for me tonight. My review from least favorite to most...
10- Anthony- I LOVE and adore this song SO much. Fantasia sang it last season and to be honest, I sing this song at karaoke frequently. I do a better job with this song because I put more emotion and soul into it and I'm as white as Anthony! I know this makes me a harsh judge, but I'm also comparing Anthony's performance to everyone else's.
9. Nikko- He didn't do anything wrong really, just not very interesting. Last week, I only *heard* him perform and thought he was really good. I wonder what a difference that makes?
8. Scott- He sounded nice. I suppose my problem is that I can't believe the sentiment coming from him. Last Cry? Has he ever cried?
7. Anwar- I felt like he was trying *really* hard to be impressive. I felt like the comments Randy and Simon made about him were just right.
6. Jessica- I don't really know that song, but I thought it was kinda boring even though she did a fine job with it.
5. Bo- I thought all the running around was distracting from the actual song, but it was good overall.
4. Nadia- I love this girl and I thought the song was over too soon.
3. Carrie- A really strong performance. Again, I wanted more.
2. Constantine- I love that it was such an unexpected song choice and I think he did a great job with it.
1. Vonzell- This was easy for me. I love premium Whitney Houston, I love a gorgeous girl that can sing well. Vonzell was fabulous. I have the biggest crush on her!

Intersting tv guide pole, all the men would be voted off before the first woman would be shown the door.

WOW! That was a surpising bottom three.
I suck at predicting the bottom three, apparently.
I guess a lackluster song, even sung well, can send you home.

Well, I'm really disappointed that the thinning out of the girls has continued.
And I certainly agree with Simon that Scott should have replaced Nadia in that bottom 3.
Who will knock Carrie from her Homecoming float now? Apparently AI fans aren't too in love with Nadia anymore, and though I like Vonzell and stuff, well.. I liked Jessica and like Nadia MUCH more.
I was, however, really relieved for both Anwar and Anthony tonight.
It's pretty cool when you like everyone so much you don't really want ANYone to leave.
The AI board is aflame right now, everyone screaming why are Scott & Anthony still there tonight, one of them should have gone instead, etc. etc.
Well, where where her fans last night? I'm glad she was one of the 5 I voted for.

That was a shocker. I really thought Anwar was going there for a second.
And Nadia did it again. Why is she so standoffish when up there in the bottom three? Last week Ryan had to physically force her to come up front and she still wouldn't look at nor go near Mikhala. She also didn't give either of them a hug last week like most do, to be comforting. This week she stood apart from Jessica and Anwar and it looked like she had to force herself to pat their arms when Ryan sent her back to sit down. She is just too cold.

From the calculated mugging to the standoffishness on stage, she's a great entertainer, but she's not conveying a sense of warmth that the viewing public craving for.

I really like Nadia, so it's hard for me to understand why she's in the bottom 3. I wasn't surprised to see Jessica and Anwar there. Anwar was a lot better earlier on in the competition, but hasn't been as strong lately. Jessica just isn't very interesting as a performer. Although I rated Anthony's last performance low, he's still a good singer. I'm surprised Scott has enough fans to keep him out of the bottom 3. That's the thing about this show, you can never really tell who the viewers will vote off, despite one's own opinions. It definitely keeps it interesting.

It's kind of like Jennifer Hudson last year, I guess.
Fantastic singer, but they had a tough time even getting her IN to the top 12-- she didn't make it during her round of 8 (being beaten by Fantasia & Diana) and she didn't make it during the Wildcard round (being beaten by JPL). Finally, she made it when Randy himself put her there.
Once in the top 12, she saw the bottom 3 several times but hung in there for a while. And on the night she gave one of, in not THE best performances-- Barry Manilow night, doing "Weekend In New England"-- she was out the next evening. America never warmed to her. I sure liked her, though.
And this year, the talent is SO tight-- even ONE poor song choice can destroy you.
Jessica would have been much better off doing a more recognizable Leann Rimes song like "How Do I Live" or "One Way Ticket".

I guess we see what we want to see, depending on whether or not we like the person. I don't see standoffishness in Nadia - I see dignity. And I disagree that she wasn't upset by Jessica's leaving. I saw it on her face. Now the one that I didn't think showed any emotion was Carrie. She was an ice queen. But, as I said,we see what we want to see. I don't like Carrie, never have and never will - so I'm biased. Her little tidbit about her Daddy cleaning his shotguns when her first date showed up made me cringe all the more. Around my office, they call her the redneck.

I'm being a total AI nerd right now.... I'm going back and downloading all my favorite performances from past seasons and listening to them over and over.
The fun thing has been to listen to auditions and performances from pre-top twelve. They've let a lot of really good singers get away.
Here's a gem...Kimberly Locke's version of "Anyone Who Had a Heart." She blew Vonzell away.
I do think that this season's competitors are holding their own in the AI archives.

I've been exploring those files too. Loved hearing "Phantom of the Opera" again. I Listened to Mario's "Do I Do" again, twice. Was blown away. There is not one iota of amateurism to be found in his performance(s). Sounds like I'd have bought it at Spin Street.
Yep, I'll totally bet the more competitive-minded in the top 12 were SOOOoooOOO very relieved when he bailed.
