Here's my proposal for next season. Do NOT tell us what state or city they are from. Too much voting on "My state is better than yours" (why Jasmine is still there, IMO). Maybe don't even show us their faces. Let's just hear their voices, that's supposed to be their true talent. This is more of a pissing contest between fans than it is for talent.

S'why I never got into the whole concept... They should find a way to only allow one vote per phone #. Until they can do that, this whole set-up is a sham. If William Hung -had- made it thru the try-outs, I bet he'd still be in the contest...

I think the time for THEME nights has passed.
Let the final 3 pick songs from whatever genres they want.

At the beginning of the season, I would have been outraged to see LaToya voted off.
But now, after thinking about it, I think it's perfectly appropriate.
The show isn't about who's the best singer, or who has the best voice -- it's who has what it takes to be a pop idol. Lots of pop idols who are famous already probably would not have even made it to the Top 10 in an AI competition. Someone like Britney Spears is staggeringly popular not primarily because she sings well, but for lots of other reasons.
LaToya sang beautifully, and was probably the most talented in the group -- if you're looking solely at who has the best voice. In a number of her performances, LaToya just stood motionless in the center of the stage and sang. Both Diana and Fantasia have attributes that are more Idol-like -- higher energy, an ability to work the crowd, and/or greater originality with song presentation.
As for why Jasmine's still there, I have no idea. Maybe it was a sympathy vote because of those tears. Maybe most of the voters really are bubbly teens and pre-teens who want to give someone their age a shot. (In the future, I think one person-one vote is fair, but it would probably be difficult, if not impossible, to enforce.) But, IMO, it probably wasn't the votes of Hawaii that put Jasmine over. The population of Hawaii is currently about 1,250,000 -- which is less populous than states such as New Mexico, Idaho, New Hampshire, Maine, Nebraska, and West Virginia.
I do think Jasmine will go next -- I think people want to see a Diana/Fantasia final two. They were the first two selected to be in the finals, so it's kind of fitting that they would be the last two standing. Plus, in each of the last two seasons, the final two came from the same group.
I'm looking forward to the next few weeks...

Stu, I totally agree in re: your opinion for why is was okay for Latoya to go last week. And I also predict Jasmine will go this week, but we all might end up very, very surprised.
There's a special on the Final 3 on tonight at 7.
OTHER IDOL NEWS:
Kimberly Locke, whom I understand was last year's 3rd-place on AI is getting airply here with her song "8th World Wonder". It's poppy/dancy, and I quite like it. I thought it was "okay" sang live by her earlier this season, but dance music is hard to translate outside of the studio, I've always thought, because of all the elctronica involved.

I read an article that described Jasmine as looking "as if she were drawn by Disney animators" -- ! I can see her being picked to play the role of Princess Jasmine in a Disney Broadway production of Aladdin after this is all over...

I think it's premature to dismiss Diana. In fact, until tonight's elimination is over, it's premature to dismiss Jasmine. Simon was AWFULLY mean to her last night, and we know what happened last time he did that...!

Nope, he was second one eliminated (11th place).
I quite liked him, he was funny and friendly and sounds excellent on the AI Season 3 CD.
His name is Matt Rogers. He was offered a recording contract 5 seconds after being eliminated from AI. I imagine he'll take it once his obligations to 19 ENTERTAINMENT (owners of AI) are done, assuming they don't sign him first.

Can you provide a link to an auction? I looked at both current and completed MATT ROGERS auctions and didn't see any action figures. These must be fakes. If AI was releasing action figures of the Top 12, it would be all over their website.

I think it's a fan-made action figure, not an official American Idol product.

Stu, do you still feel bad for Mr. Debut-CD-cracked-the-top-40 Hung? THIS IS THE GRAND FINALE WEEK!!!! Fantasia VS Diana!!! Only 1 will be American Idol but they're both winners!!

Stu, do you still feel bad for Mr. Debut-CD-cracked-the-top-40 Hung? [/b]Not really sure. Either he really still has no idea that he can't sing -- which would be quite sad -- or he knows, but doesn't care. I mean, why should he? He's sold a bunch of CDs, and even has "The William Hung Girls" dancing for him at events. Seems kind of a sell-out, until you realize that he was never legit to begin with. *shrug*

Kiss me -- I voted just now! (After getting a bunch of busy signals...)
I thought the finale was OK. I still love Fantasia's rendition of "Summertime," but I was frankly stunned at how much her last song got praised -- I thought her performance of it was horrible, with off notes all over the place. Sure, I'm not a professionally trained musician, but how many people watching the show were? And her tendency to insert "yeah yeah yeah" over and over again in every single song gets a bit tiresome.
I hope Diana wins. I do think Fantasia is a talented and creative singer, but I just couldn't see myself listening to an entire album full of her songs. I can see her having one or two that I just completely love, and then having a bunch that I can't stand. While I wouldn't necessarily like every single song on an album by Diana either, I think that I'd prefer the package, on the whole, a bit more.

I elected NOT to vote, as I would have wanted to place a vote for both and it would have simply cancelled the votes out.
I like 'em both, they both deserve it, and I'll be happy when either one wins tomorrow.
I ***did*** think the judges continued their "completely overboard" favoritism toward Fantasia tonight. It's so obvious they favor her, and have for the entire show. It almost seems unfair to Diana.
Fantasia was NEVER criticized for things the judges ripped others in the top 12 a new ass for.

Also... oh, I hate to post this as it might make me seem anti-'Tasia, which I am DEFinitely not...
If I heard the judges call 'Tasia's voice "orignal" one more time, I was gonna ralph. Had none of them ever heard of Nell Carter or Macy Gray?
OKAY... that off my chest, let me say one last time:
GOOD LUCK FANTASIA, GOOD LUCK DIANA!!
