Who can figure 'em.

Yeah. I figure having brothers in the semi-finals -- and in the same group of eight -- has GOT to be for the sake of ratings...

Yeah, it was pretty bad last night. I had never heard the brothers before, but had gotten the impression that they were good. Guess not! I'm hoping for the redhead and the Hawaiian girl. I'm not 100% sure the judges can't go back and pick someone from before the 32 cut. I don't see why not.
William Hung was on Ellen yesterday, singing between segments. Ellen said she admires his attitude. I wonder if he gets the joke? That even though he seems to be having fun, it is his terrible singing that is getting the laughs? I hope he doesn't think he's a good singer. I hope he realizes that he's out there being a clown.

Yeah Dean, funny how Will Hung has become a celebrity now... EVERYone knows who he is. Most of those who made it to the Top 32 will fade back into obscurity but he's known all over.
Okay, so big cute funny cuddly Football Boy made the cut, as I guessed he would.
I'll admit yesterday my second choice was a tossup between red-haired Lisa and Hawaiian Camille. But when they announced Camille as the winner and she started crying and she sang that song again and her Mom started crying, *I* also teared up!! Something else else about her made me really WANT to like her and made me happy she was picked. So that's good I guess, that she can inspire that feeling in people.
I liked the quality her voice brought to that sad li'l teeny-bopper 'One Last Cry' song.

Not me, I had to watch the show with the wife, and i thought the best of the night was the redhead. Why she frumped up for tonights show was a mystery to me, cause she sang great and looked great last night. If this is an example of America's taste, man am i glad this is the only one of the shows i have ever watched. Those people were crap for the most part. The redhead had the best voice, and performed better than the others.
And god willing this is the last time i will ever have to watch that show, lol.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
Something pithy!

My vote's on Matt being the first one of the 12 cut. Of course, last year, that creepy marine guy (was Josh his name?) stayed in for a while, so anything can happen.
I kind of had a feeling it was going to be Matt and Camille. I kind of feel bad about Lisa, as I thought she did a very nice job. Still, neither of these two are in the same league as Fantasia and Diana IMHO.
And Ultra-Matt... I AM proud! I just wish I had really known her better before now.

I totally agree. Neither of tonight's winners has a chance to win the competition. Still, no one should be surprised if Simon signs Camille anyway.

Damn cable box. The channel on it didn't change so my TiVo thought it was recording Fox but it wasn't.
So I know which one Matt is but which one is Camille? The blonde who is always blaming some ailment or something for her performance or the raven short-haired one who went last on last night's show?

Thanks Lash. Forgot about her. Of course most of them were forgettable. I hope next week's batch is better.

How much do you all think the voters are affected by what the judges say? Has the public vote traditionally followed the judges' praise or criticism pretty closely?

I dunno.
The judges were spot-on predicting Diana & Fantasia last week, but missed the boat somewhat this week predicting Lisa and Camille. They underestimated the charm of large, cute football-playing crooners who hug Ryan Seacrest.

Next week looks to be MUCH better-- the pink-haired chick is singing, plus the "pen salesman" and the blonde chick who worked it with the pink-haired girl singing "Young Hearts Run Free".

Some inCREDible performances tonight!!!
The final 3 will be: AMY (pink hair), LEAH and LATOYA (the last 2 performers).
Eric was the best of the guys, I thought. Finished BIG after a shaky start.

My only gripe was that last night was WAY heavy on the Whitney & Celine.
But I guess those songs are the songs you choose if ou really want to belt something out.
Still, I find myself leaning more toward Fantasia (from Round 1) than Latoya, simply because she chose a different type of song-- 'Something else else to Talk About'-- and made it her own.
Whatever-- the finale is going to be MASSIVE, MONOLITHIC, BIG, man, BIG!!! A knock-down, drag-out!!

The thing I liked about Latoya was that of all the Whitney/Celine wannabes, she was the only one thus far with the pipes and the artistry to back it up. Go LATOYA! If not for Diana, she would totally be my favorite in this competition thus far.
Where are the guys that can sing? Surely some of them auditioned, but I don't think we've heard one truly awesome male voice yet this competition. I would just call Eric and Jon Peter passable.

Diana is still by far my favorite, Latoya (if she changes her name) a distant second. And if they don't start singing some upbeat songs and break away from the Whitney/Celine crap I'm going to scream.

Amy (who went on to the next round) had the pipes to back it up. Leah (who I find it difficult to believe lost out to the Pen Salesman) had the artistry. Anyhoo, I was pleased with tonight's results. I'm looking forward to next week. Maybe instead of the Whitney/Celine stuff, they'll dig a bit deeper. Anita Baker, anyone?

I'm not really sure... I think tonight's show has been the hardest of any for me to pick...
For sure, I liked the Hawaiian girl... she did a great job on 'Run to You', a VERY difficult song...
for my second choice I'm just not sure...
Suzy (singer # 1) had a good strong voice; 'the "Old" guy' (sang ALWAYS & FOREVER) just has a really likeable quality about him... and I still like the red-headed guy... I agreed with Simon re: the last singer, whom Randy & Paula loved-- I thought her performance was a mess.
I just don't know who my second pick is...

So far this season, the girls have been generally much better than the guys. I wonder if we'll have a top 12 that's 10 girls and two guys? Wouldn't bother me none...
