I thought there was supposed to be brief follow-ups to all the minis in AC #1. I didn't see anything about the Starlord gang. That's the only mini I followed.
There should've been/should be a Mantis/tree guy (G'root?) scene in that mini or this one. She was married to a tree, after all.
Do you think Moondragon will be kept as a literal dragon? Weird how this transformation happened at about the same time as that of Red Bee in FREEDOM FIGHTERS.

Yeah, that's where I got the pic from. And yes, I'm buying Conquest now.

Got A:C 2+3 from Midtown Comics, along with #4 of the Phyla-sar mini (just for the Warlock AR collector in me)... good stuff.

So I finally read the finale today. All in all, it was not as good as the first Annhilation, but it was still pretty entertaining. I'm glad bought the series I did (Star-Lord, Nova, actual Conquest series).
I like how it wrapped up. Reboot is dead-on in that DnA retreaded a lot of their Legion work here (even the final battle with Ultron felt similar), but what I really enjoy is the way all these characters really interact. After this and the first Annhilation, I'm all primed up to buy a comic with Drax, Peter Quill, Gamora, Ronan and Super-Skrull (no idea if they'll all be there). Looking forward to the new Guardians of the Galaxy title.
Some random thoughts:
- Groot's "death" (I note I've seen upcoming solicits) was actually pretty cool. At first I was hesitant about Groot since I was supposed to like him, and then I actually did. Same goes for Rocket Racoon.
- I think this series actually managed to get me to like Phyla a little. Not *love* her, but at least accept her right now. Note that up until now I loathed her and skipped right over her mini.
- I don't mind Moondragon biting it. I'm kind of over her. However, if Mantis bought it I'd be flipping out. I hope Mantis has a part in the Guardians title.
- High Evoluntionary was perfect in the mini. His loyalties and motivations were dead on. He's one of my favorite Marvel characters.
- Adam Warlock was great. Glad to see him back.
- If Ronan the Accuser and Super-Skrull shared their own series I'd buy ten copies.
- Warlock from New Mutants is back! I never clamored for it, demanded it or actually wished for it, but now that he's back and in the way he is, I kind of really like it. Tyro is fun so far too (though I can see him getting real old real fast).
- This is more of a Nova comment, but I like the Nova/Gamora romance. I don't see it lasting for long periods at a time(and it shouldn't because then it'd get pretty damn boring), but I like when they're together.
I hope, hope, hope that DnA can keep Nova and Guardians going a long while and sales sustain it. I like this corner of the MU.

Looking forward to getting the end to A:C (and NOVA #12) with my delivery tomorrow... I've a couple of questions that may or oay not have been answered in previous ANNIHILATION minis-- First, what's Bug doing at the same size as everybody else? o He and all the other Microns always emerged from the Microverse on a Lilliputian scale, unless they used another means like the Prometheus Pit to enter the MU proper. Second, how did technarch Warlock end up on his homeworld? I lost track of him after his M1 series and Excalibur appearances, where he was running around as a technophied Doug Ramsey lookalike. Thanks in advance for any info...

The ending... I never like endings that require the bad guy to be a %^&*ing moron. And Giant Ultron did. Brainy tricked Computo into doing something stupid, yes, but that was just B5 being smart rather than Computo being stupid. Ultron just needed to not give the heroes something to hit and get the Phalanx to go for the Selection. The Nova issues (including the "unofficial" tie-ins #8-12, but not the Annual) were a lot stronger than the Conquest mini proper. Ranking them with all said and done... 1. Nova 2. Starlord 3. Conquest 4. Wraith 5. Phyla Not evenly distributed (Nova & SL are way in front of Conquest, which is way in front of Wraith & Phyla), but there you go. Note that up until now I loathed her and skipped right over her mini. See, here's the thing - as this thing has worn on, I've liked her less. I prefered her when she was Genis' ignorant jerk of a sister to the Quasar-wannabe she's become. I never got the feeling she deserved to get the final hit in - Quill, his remaining crew, Nova (over the whole Selection-and-nearly-dying-three-times-because-of-it thing) and Ronan all deserved it more. Plus, the q-bands don\'t work like that . And that final letter-to was a bit too obviously a retread of Nova's letter in Annihilation #6. Pym particles? Really, that didn't make too much sense to start with. Since he can't exactly get the girls at mini-size, it makes sense that he'd be looking for a way to be full-size in the MU. [PS: The "real" answer is that Giffen didn't know he was supposed to be small] Originally posted by Pov: Second, how did technarch Warlock end up on his homeworld? I lost track of him after his M1 series and Excalibur appearances, where he was running around as a technophied Doug Ramsey lookalike. There's a flashback shot in Nova #11 of him blasting through space under his own steam, while he explains how he decided to go home. Exactly why he's back to his original look and speech impediment isn't clear - presumably his Doug remnants got DeciMated, but he should still have his memories.

I'd agree with your rankings with perhaps saying the Star Lord mini was slightly more enjoyable than Nova, but honestly, both were so good (to me) that its a win/win no matter how you cut it. The main Annhilation ranks a bit below them (and below the first Annhilation), but still worth the actual purchase. I didn't waste my time with the other two minis, and am now glad I didn't. Good to know about K'Lrt. I've known about the Super-Skrull since I was about 8 years old, and always thought of him as one of the more boring Silver Age FF villains. That all changed when PAD used him in Captain Marvel and gave him a bit of deadpan humor that just worked for me. Flash forward to Annhilation (v.1) and now I'm a big fan. Good to hear about Mantis. I almost thought there were hints of a Star-Lord/Mantis flirtation going on, but that might be me reading way too much into the scene with Quill holding her at the end. Though there was plenty of death throughout both Annhilations, I honestly can say I don't think it had the blatant "let's kill a bunch of characters" feel to it that say, Infinite Crisis, had. I felt like almost every death worked on some level for the story. Not that I plan to back that statement up with any kind of real arguement or evidence . It just felt that way to me.

So typical screw-up that I am, I didn't realize I read Conquest first before the last two Nova issues. Now I can understand Reboot's ranking. They're my favorite of the series so far.
Surprise favorite of the storyline? Tyro. Not bad, DnA, not bad at all.

Tyro's handling of his Siredam was awesome! Especially as it looked like he'd just met an abrupt end. And Warlock's battle against Ultron in A:C was likewise faboo! Raney was excellent on CONQUEST, but it'll be fun to see Pelletier handle this cast in the GUARDIANS series.

Me, I'm just glad Alves is back on Nova as the ongoing artist over Pelletier. Based on #8-10 vs. #11-12, I easily prefer Alves. And I'm not a fan of Raney's.
