I like the whole family, but I especially related to Rory/Crimson Crusader and Dominic/Hex.

Since you seem to have forgotten about all their names here are the main family members:
Rory/Crimson Crusader & Pandora/Imp are the twins. The big guy is Walter/Wallop who's a writer. The smart guy is Newton. The armor gal is Samantha/Agent who's an artist. Kay Cera/Cuckoo is the telepathic fashion designer and 1st born of the siblings. Dominic/Hex is the former theatrical performer and sometimes hermit with super-senses you probably were thinking of by refering to a clown guy. Last but not is the immortal, invulnerable, and a bit emotionally detached father of the clan, Adam.

Good interview. Thanks for the link.
Well, the first issue arrives tomorrow, and I'm counting the hours.
And it appears that the only ClanDestine story remaining in my collection is the X-Men/ClanDestine team-up (some of my comics got damaged by water several years ago, but I can't remember all the ones that were unsalvageable.) I'll have to get the compilation when it comes out later this month.

Thanks Actor Lad.
I saw some preview pages recently that looked really nice somewhere online(can't remember).
One of them was a diagram of sorts with how the characters are related and their names. A good guide! I wish I had the link.

Well all the Destines are siblings except Adam (Dad) and GGG/Green Genie Gal (Mom). Not much has been revealed about her other then she looks somewhat similar to Necrom the Excalibur villain. We don't even know her name.
Sigh, I really wish there was a comic store up here so I wouldn't have to wait until the trade to read the new series.

The first issue is, as expected, beautifully drawn and expertly sets up what promises to be a colorful rollercoaster ride. Speaking of colorful, I would have to say that, currently, my favorite character is Dominic/Vex, because I can always empathize with the hypersensitive.

Yeah I just read it and loved it. Beautiful. The characters Alan used were all the main ones I remember. The Guild seem to have figured it all out. Thankfully it was an oppurtunity to get the readers caught up as well. Adam Destine is a very interesting character. Hope we learn more about him. An Adam & Dr. Strange team-up for instance would rock. Kay Cera from Barcelona. Que sera? Alan Davis is still my fave.

That's one of the best things about Davis as a writer. He always makes an effort to make his stories accessible to readers who aren't caught up with the continuity.

Issue # 2 is another feast for the eyes, and fans of a certain property that Davis previously worked on are going to be very pleased by the last-page cliffhanger and by the villainess a couple pages before.

Could this mean that Davis might bring back Kylun, and reveal him to be not a mutant but a Destine? Could this also mean that Davis is a Thundercats fan and wants to put together his own version?</span></span>

I am picking it up because of an Excalibur appearance - I loved when Rachel was the Phoenix. I miss Kitty, Kurt, Brian, Meggan & Rachel being together. Alan Davis has always been one of my favorites. I have an Alan drawn Excalibur poster framed in my office.

I have an Excalibur review thread on this board that's been inactive and incomplete for a long time. I'll have to do something about it later this week.

The third issue gives us the pleasure of Davis once again writing and drawing the founding members of Excalibur.
Other than that, there's not much to say. Davis is a very dependable creator -- even his lesser writer/artist works like Killraven and JLA: Another Nail are better (and better-looking) than most of the comics they're competing with.
Sadly, sales have not been good. I hope Davis doesn't end up having to do another paycheck job like his run with Claremont on Uncanny X-Men a few years ago.
And I promise I will update the Excalibur thread soon.

Still a good read. Always cool to see Davis draw characters like the Inhumans, even if this is an alternate-universe version. And I still haven't gotten to updating the Excalibur review thread.

Some of Davis's best artwork of the last few years, as well as some nice character moments can't fully make up for an underwhelming ending, with the ClanDestine/Griffin battle recalling the early 90s Excalibur/Necrom battle a bit too closely (and before I even opened the comic, I had already noted just from looking at the cover how much Griffin resembled Necrom. In fact, the mini-series as a whole felt sort of like listening to a band's re-recordings of their greatest hits. Plenty of surface pleasures but it all feels rather warmed-over.
And it was a bad idea to end the book with a setup for a sequel, because sales have not been good, not good at all.
At least Alan Davis next assignment should boost his profile: he's drawing (but not writing) the last of the Young Avengers Presents one-shots, the one spotlighting the new, female Hawkeye.

I'll probably glance at it in the comic book shop. Not really a Thor fan.

It's a one shot that I'd have probably passed over, being exclusively DC. Looks interesting, I think I'll pick it up if my CBS has an extra.

Must have! Darn the fact that there's no comic shop up here.

I enjoyed it. It seems to me that it's Davis's tribute to the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby Tales of Asgard back-up serials in the Silver Age issues of Thor, where Thor and the Warriors Three had adventures in various realms. This time it's ancient Egypt.
Davis's art is always a feast for the eyes, even in cases like this one where the coloring is not very good.
And Davis writes a great Thor. There's a fine line between a fierce but noble warrior and an outright oaf, and Davis stays on the right side of the line.
A simple story, but a good story well told.

Alan Davis is my favorite artist and Thor one of my favorite characters. This was a no-brainer for me. As Stealth said it was fun. Questions? Marvel recently revealed that the Asgardians continue to live through a cycle and each time they are slightly different. I don't mind this but 4000 BC is way farther back than any time this Thor has appeared in. I would like to see some other Thor's that are part of cyclical history. But that's another story. This was cool. Volstagg could've put up more of a fight.

According to both the Lee/Kirby and JMS runs, Odin created mankind - while that probably shouldn't be taken too literally , the cycle encompassed Midgard (Earth) and the other seven of the Nine Worlds as well. Thor stopped the reset before it started in the last one. Originally posted by Ultra Jorge: I would like to see some other Thor's that are part of cyclical history. But that's another story. In that case, go pick up Thor: Ages of Thunder and Thor: Reign of Blood if you can still find them (if not, the third and final part - Thor: Man of War - is due on the 26th of November, and a collected edition will no doubt follow; although I suspect there may be a HC first...)

Thanks a lot, Gary.
Tonight, I'll add links to discussions of Davis work in longer threads.
