Story here. He's going to Marvel after he finishes JLA: ANOTHER NAIL. Doesn't look like we'll be getting that SUPERBOY'S LEGION sequel...

I'm surprised he did that, Marvel seem's to have a habit of screwing them man around.

In related news, Newsarama also reported that Howard Porter and Ron Garney have be signed to exclusives by DC... Woop-de-FREAKING-doo.
THAT'll show Marvel for signing Davis!

And just for the record Alan Davis is my favorite penciller of all time. I have many favorites but he seems to be slightly on the top.

Fantastic Four: The End, by Alan Davis
Anyone else reading this? It's halfway through its limited six-issue run. I won't deny it's taking way too long to get going, but there's so much to enjoy, not only for an Alan Davis fan like myself, but also for a Marvel fan who thinks the MU has (mostly) gone to hell because of Quesada and his pet writers...like myself.
I think anyone who was dissapointed by Davis's recent X-Men art should at least give this one a chance -- he's back on form (and can Davis really be blamed for doing below-average work when he had terrible Claremont scripts to work from?)

The Imperial Guard make an appearance at the end of issue # 4!! Not only is it a pleasure to see Davis draw them, it also helps take away some of the dissapointment at the Imperial Guard's recent cannon-fodder appearance in Uncanny X-Men. And it looks like there's gonna be a lot more of the Imperial Guard in upcoming issues. Yay!

I love it. The story is pretty good but honestly I just love the art. He's my all time fave artist. Plus, I love the Marvel cosmic stuff...and lots of Avengers stuff.
Davis drawing my favorite Marvel Universe elements? Yeah I love it.

This is gonna need a spoiler box:
<span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">It had a happy ending! Imagine that in this day and time. No wonder Marvel gave it zero promotion. Overall, it was lightweight compared to Davis's writer/artist work on Excalibur and the two JLA: Nail minis. Still a good read, though. And the final page, with Doctor Doom having deposed Annihilus as ruler of the Negative Zone was great. Unlike a lot of writers, Davis knows that Doom is a villain that needs to be written right or not at all.</span></span>

I quite enjoyed it. I thought it was a pretty interesting story, and the heroes of the future were quite different than one might have expected. And as always, the art was gorgeous. I do like Alan Davis

I thought the series was a bit crowded, but enjoyable. With a history like the FFs, glimpsing everyone that's had memorable appearances with them *would* be crowded.
I liked the ending. It reminded me of the conclusion of the ADVENTURE Devil's Dozen story.
As a fan of Crystal (the mask was stupid, though), I liked the bit about her ending up with Johnny... and the prospect of them having seven kids! I'm imagining them now...

Alan Davis has brought back the Clan Destine http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=138731 Anyone else interested? I don't remember much about the original version (I know I have at least the first couple of issues hiding somewhere in the mess that is my collection, as well as the 2-issue X-Men/Clan Destine mini-series.) Davis's last project, Fantastic Four: The End, was IMO his strongest work (as both an artist and a writer) in a long time, so I'm hoping he's on a roll here. Can't wait 'til February comes along.

I enjoyed Clan Destine very much when it came out, I think I have all their appearances (the whole short-lived series, the X-Men 2-part crossover, and their Marvel Comics Presents issue, which I believe was their intro).
I look forward to seeing more of this (everything by Davis is incredible), but it will mean I have to drop something else cause my budget won't stretch any more!!

I'm a big fan of Alan Davis' stuff, but I never got around to reading this one. I'll have to pick up that collected trade!
Back when he was drawing New Mutants was some good times, and I loved his Superboy's Legion. (I even liked his run on the old Outsiders. 'Sympathy for the Fuhrer' was a pretty neat story, although I don't remember if he was just the artist back then and someone else wrote it...)

Originally posted by Set: Back when he was drawing New Mutants was some good times I'll second that. New Mutants Annual # 2 -- the one where Cypher and Warlock have to rescue the rest of the team (and Captain Britain & Psylocke) from Mojo -- is one of my favorite X-verse stories ever published. Originally posted by Set: (I even liked his run on the old Outsiders. Barr wrote it; IIRC, Barr wrote every Outsiders story from the 80s and 90s. Through no fault of Davis's, I feel that Outsiders began to decline after the conclusion of "The Truth About Halo." I see Halo's subsequent haircut as the moment where the Outsiders jumped the shark. But the first 24 issues plus the first couple annuals are all favorites of mine.

Stealth, I agree with you about the decline of the Outsiders coinciding with Halo's short haircut. That and her new white costume that had the rainbow effect of showing the trim color as whatever aura she was channeling at the time. Lame!!!! And don't get me started on Looker's uniform, complete with blue facial makeup and the huge ass pink bow!

I'll have to re-read my old Clan Destine issues (once I find them, which could take a long time) before answering that question.
