Matthew. It think he's nominally related. Once revamp of his origin had the source of the lantern being a dead GL.

John's script is beyond impressive, and he's ensuring that fans of Kyle, Guy, John, Alan and the Corps get something too.

Matthew. They were out there. You have to remember that the way Hal dealt with his sector was very different than other GLs. They didn't spend their time in one place, instead going to wherever they were most needed. Hal stayed put on Earth, and mostly in Coast City. Whoever was GL when Alan made his ring probably saw little need to come to Earth. After all, it had its own heroes and a GL, even if he wasn't quite one of their own.

The GL Corps had been around for 3 billion years. Alan Scott's ring was derived from the "random magic" contained within the Main Power Battery on OA. The Guardians expelled the random magic, because they wanted their agents to wield rings made from science not magic. The magic was too unpredictable.
Not to mention that a vulnerability to wood really sucks for 3600 agents of order. The vulnerability to yellow was due to a pact the Guardians made with the Korugarians (Sinestro's people) but for the life of me I can't remember why... I can't remember EVERYTHING.

You know, that makes a LOT of sense! (If only EMERALD TWILIGHT had made any... at all.)

I believe there was an Alan Scott/Abin Sur team-up in the old Green Lantern Quarterly, but I don't have the issues handy.
The Alan Scott GL was invented before the Guardians, and was on Earth-2 for the Silver Age, so a connection wasn't an issue. They came up with one anyway, sometime in the GL/Green Arrow series.

The Alan Scott/Abin Sur story was definitely post-Crisis, though the other bits I mentioned were not.

I'm looking forward to Alan playing a bigger part later in this series. Sciver's been giving us one big splash of each GL so you know Alan's turn to shine is coming up!
One of the best things about this book is the way Johns is moving this story along. Judging from the first two issues, you just know there's a lot of story being told (more like several little story threads building towards one big one) rather than one simple arc being dragged out.

It looks like, and i may be wrong, but Hal figures out what happened to him at some point, possibly when he entered the power battery, and then seperates from the Spectre id. After that, he uses the ring, willpower, whatever, to take it down. This would nicely establish his role as having the greatest willpower of any lantern again. At this point i have no doubt that Geoff has something great in store.
And yes, Ethan's art rocks. It just gets better and better. I first saw it on the late, highly lamented Impulse. Then he left for marvel, and then i saw it on Iron Heights. Better and better.
If he ever gets his speed to the point where monthly isn't a problem, i think he will occupy the same shelf as Perez. It's only the inability to do a monthly schedule for me. At least, thats what i heard he said while on impulse. If i am wrong, i offer my sincere apologies.

And some people wonder why comics are considered 'gay', lol. There are a lot of things to wonder about with respect to Hal's return. Somehow, a little change in costume isn't gonna matter that much.
As for me, i always thought it would be nice to show a hero actually wearing pants. Not unitards, or underwear on the outside. Just...pants. I know, the original look started with the wrestling outfit that they put on superman. It doesn't matter. Give Hero's Pants. Hmmmm, think i may start a campaign group for that.

You want a hero who wears pants, you should read "The Question", my favorite hero in pants. Kevin Matchstick is another, Sandman is another ...

Good point, but I would personally prefer a "heroic" top with pants rather than tights.

I think Tom Strong wears pants...
Guy Gardner wore pants when he had the yellow ring, so did Fire when she was in JLI.

Yes, a rare few do, but how many more do we know of that don't wear pants, but funky unitards?
With Flash or quicksilver, it makes sense, they run. But say nightwing, or the Lanterns? Unh unh, nope. Make them look and dress like men. Fire or ice? Okay, they can wear unitards. Why? they are chicks, thats why. Chicks look good in unitards.
*yeah, chauvanistic, but...i am a male, lol. course i wann'em to look hot.
So...Give Hal Pants!

John's has written a great story here, I'm piqued to see what happens. Ethan's art is amazing! He's like a certain Sadowski fellow, so damn good it's a shame they aren't working on monthlies. Marvel has it's Young Guns, DC has Morales, Van Sciver, Kitson, and more.
I'm reading this mainly to see Kyle's story unfold. Nothing against Jordan, but he never interested me like the kid has. I'd like to think he'll have a major role after this series, but since DC seems determined to return to past glories, I don't expect so. Ah well, thanks to Geoff, he's getting a great send off.
As for Jordan, I didn't disagree with Parallax during the Zero Hour. He was looking to make the universe better for everyone. How was that wrong? It was Hal's homicidal journey to Oa that was his fall from grace. That will be the tricky hurdle on the road to redemption.
BTW, we've got Kara back, Jordan is becoming GL again, and a "Crisi" is looming in the future. Any chance DC will go for the hattrick and revive Barry Allen?
Just spouting off.
