I went to 9 stores here on Long Island before calling it quits to go to my niece's birthday party ... picked up plenty of stuff for my students ...
I've got a bunch of extra if anyone is looking for anything in particular ...
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

I was driving around the city a lot on Saturday. It was great to see the local shops had put out yard signs and the like all over. It really was a big deal here in Denver.
Just spouting off.

Well, that had a ton of fun stuff left, except for the ONE THING I was MOST interested in: Irredeemable. Still glad I didn't go in that storm, though. The guys said the turnout was remarkable Saturday considering the weather.

Congratulations, Cobie!
I'm never able to get to these things, because it's always on Saturday, and I'm a Sabbath-observing Jew. Last year, I asked my comic shop owner to put aside Blackest Night # 0 for me, and it really didn't have any significant story in it, so I didn't even bother to ask her to hold War of the Supermen # 0 this year.
For any of you that got it, is the Legion in it? Or has the Legion's involvement in Superman's books ended with Last Stand of New Krypton # 3?

Legion skips this and goes right into the next adventure comic for the wrap up of the Mon El story. And Legion #1 of course.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

For me:
Dr. Solar/Magnus - Shooter getting a chance to do these guys again. Should be interesting.
War of The Supermen - It's free...doubt I'll get the mini though.
Bongo - Simpsons fun.
For Hannah:
DC Kids - lots of short story fun.
Shrek - She can't wait for the next movie.
Archie's Summer Splash - Fun with the Archie gang.
For Jon (or at least for him to destroy):
Toy Story - wild jabbering will ensue when he sees this. Should probably let his sister see it first.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Odd how that works: My store had a pile of Irredeemables left over, and a lot of the Marvel stuff, but nearly everything else was gone. I missed out on the Atomic Robo, but somebody slipped copies of The Sixth Gun and Love and Capes into my box.

I picked up Sixth Gun, Mouse Guard, and Archie's Summer Splash. Flipped through Superman, but wasn't compelled to get a copy.
Ever since the "Archie Marries Veronica" storyline, I've been getting issues of Archie comics here and there. Jughead #200 was written by Tom Root, and was quite amusing. The main Archie title right now is featuring a romance between Archie and Val (of Josie and the Pussycats).

I finally made it to the CBS and picked up the ones they pulled for me (Thor/Iron Man, Atomic Robo, Superman and Solar/Magnus). If I'd actually made it on the day, I probably would have tried to get everything I could get my hands on, including Archie and other things but unfortunately, I didn't get to. So far, I read the Thor / Iron Man one-shot, which I thought was a pretty solid read. Marvel's marketing strategy was evident in trying to use the growing Iron-mania this summer to spread some interest towards Thor in preparation for his movie next summer. Interestingly (and awesome to me) is taht both have been major sellers for Marvel in the last 5 years consistently within the top 30 (Thor in the top 10 almost always). The story was a pretty good little action/adventure involving some sequences on the moon, but I'm surprised Fraction didn't really go for it in terms of introducing what the characters can actually do in terms of powers and knowledge. I think that was a bit of a wasted opportunity. The lack of a real antagonist also kind of gave the story a sense of flatness. On the other hand, Romita Jr.'s artwork was absolutely incredible. I'm a big fan of JR Jr., so I was delighted to see him show his stuff here. I know he has his detractors on this board (and I forgive you for your obvious craziness ). At the end of the day, for a Free Comic, it was pretty cool! But Fraction should have put more effort into getting new readers to follow-up on both characters by showing off more of each character's larger mythos to intrigue them.

Got the stuff from my old comic guy in SoCal (Ralph's Comic Corner Rocks!) this week. Really enjoyed both Iron Man/Nova & Iron Man/Thor. I haven't had a chance to read War of the Supermen yet. They were also nice enough to send me a full set of Lantern Corps Rings and the War Machine Heroclix. I'm so beyond grateful they did that for me.

I was glad to get the Atomic Robo FCBD offering, which was solid fun. Not as meaty a story as usual but it was squeezed into a comic with two other features, so hey, for no money at all, it was worth it. It certainly gave a good indication of the humor of the series to a new reader.
I read the other two features but it's only been one day later and I actually can't really remember much about them, so that kind of says enough about the mark they made on me. "Box 13", the last of the issue seemed like it could be good but it felt more like the first few pages of issue #1 than an actual preview of what's to come, so I never was left feeling like I had to keep reading.
