Is "Ms. Marvel" 2 out yet? Anybody know? I can't seem to find out through the usual news sources, and I can't get the manager or owner on the horn at my comics shop. (Oh, the vagaries of part-time help *sigh*) And these days, don't want to waste gas getting there! Edit: Eh, I found out. It was released on 12 April. The owner of the major Carol Danvers fan site hadn't updated in a couple months, but he had a link to his "all-new" Ms. M message board that I'd missed before.

I'll be glad when they get past the Brood. I like Carol as a character... and I enjoy her take on things.
Somehow, though, I think there should be a little more grandeur in her. Maybe that's 'cause I think of her as a possible candidate for Marvel's 'Wonder Woman' analog.

Yeah, Todd, you hit the figurative esthetic nailhead there: Getting in there slugging it out doesn't show her off to her best advantage. Maybe that comes from her flamboyant appearance, which should have her showing a little more reserve to compensate.
(The in-the-trenches feel seemed to work better with her original look, back in the '70s series. Not so much with the Cockrum sleek look. Hmmm. Have to ponder that correlation, there.)

I have been very impressed with the first two issues... maybe b/c I had small expectations, but very impressed nonetheless. I like the brood, and the idea that Carol has to face something from which the brood is running... yikes!
Why are you laughing at me? It's unkind, as well as puzzling!

Picked up 1 & 2 and I gotta say it's a good read. I just hope it doesn't turn into an all-humor book. For now, the balance of humor, action, and character drama is just right.
There's room for all God's creatures...right next to the mashed potatoes!

I finally read # 2!
I thought the humour was much less evident this issue but still there, which should please fans who want a more serious tone.
I think the whole point of this series is for Carol to attempt to acieve the grandeur she really SHOULD have but is lacking.
Still good, I'm onboard unless things go in the toilet.

#3... Poor, poor CRU! But when he eventually makes a comeback, will we call him NewCru?!

I read # 3.
Eh. The whole Brood/Cru thing was so-so. The art, however, was spectacular.
Next issue looks to be more my cup of tea. I'm still on-board!

Issues two and three didn't thrill me on a stand-up store perusal, so I didn't take them home. I guess I expected something more involved than a generic alien slugfest, with their having taken the trouble to revive Carol's chronicles. Maybe I just need more (justifiable) pocket cash, or more stamina to stand up ... where's that Magnetron?

Issue 6. Was Carol having a moment there with a certain distinguished gentleman?

I just picked up the latest issue, and I have to say...I really like it! I've been hemming and hawing on this since #1, but I think I'm officially on board now.
- The Pro-registration side handled honestly and from a POV (Carol's) that makes sense.
- Cool interaction b/t Wonder Man and Carol. I never thought of them as a possible couple until HoM, and now I'm kinda interested in what that would be like.
- The idea of Carol training new heroes is appealing to me, especially Arana or other young females (would love to see the new Scorpion show up).
- I like the Shroud & Arachne, so that will be a good storyline.
It felt like this was more 'Marvel Universe' than 'Ms. Marvel', but I like having her front and center in the MU. After the next few issues, I'm excited to see where that will put her. I'd like her to develop more of her own rogues gallery in the classic super-hero sense.

I tried the first few issues but the title didn't really interest me. The Civil War crossover and especially Wonder Man's recurring (romantic?) role has me interested again. The two certainly "look" like a good couple - their powers even leave them on par (unless of course Carol's able to drain ionic energy...). The upcoming Rogue appearance should also be interesting.

Yeah I thought the GIANT and # 1 were really good but 2 & 3, not so much. 4 & 5 were pretty good with the Dr. Strange/Warren traveler/return of hurled kitty business, but # 6 is definitely the "CLICK" issue.
De La Torre's art with this issue has just transcended really good and leapt into excellence, and this issue (along with the SHE-HULK CW issue) has me interested enough in CW that I will have to probably buy the trade if I cant find the individual issues.
Love Wonder Man, Julia/Arachne and the Shroud appearances!
I demand more of the kitty!

I'm enjoying the guest appearances maybe more than Carol. I think there needs to be an issue or two that focuses tightly on just who she is, without being unconscious or magically duped or sharing the spotlight with other great characters.
Just an issue or two, mind you-- then bring on the Wonder Mans and Spiderwomen (three so far? Sheesh! Who's next? Madame Web?)
I like the idea of Simon and Carol as a couple. It gets him out of that Wanda/Vision tangle that always bordered on the incestuous. Has Carol *ever* had a viable romance?
Is Warren Traveler an acceptable archenemy? Ms. Marvel could use one of those, too. Mystique might be a good choice.

I read # 9, 10 & 11...
liked the Wieringo art on 9/10, but felt the Rogue appearance was more of a letdown than anything. Interesting to note that in so many alternate worlds, Carol and Rogue become friends. Not sure how I feel about the alternate Carol being on Marvel-earth-proper permanently.
re # 11, I don't remember Doomsday Man from Carol's first series, but he looks plenty tough. Glad to see DeLa Torre back on art chores.
ZOMBIE FANS ALERT!
Looks like you won't want to miss # 12... It sports an ass-kickin' Greg Horn cover, too!

Doesn't seem like many here are still reading this...
I picked up the latest issue solely for the Machine Man appearance. They've kept the look and attittude of Aaron from "NextWave" and as a fan of the character, I appreciate that he has a more distinct personality now. He had previously been too ... "Data-like" in his search for humanity but the new twist that he's acting like he's better than humans now is interesting (denial? Disillusionment? ) and certainly funnier. (though I'm still waiting for the return of his finger guns!)
I also wonder what was part of his incentive package. It wouldn't be a LMD of Monica could it??

THAT would be priceless. I need to pick this up just for his appearance. I think I mentioned it in the Nextwave thread, at least I meant to, [oops, I didn't... ] I saw a link on Kevin Church's BeaucoupKevin blogsite posting the Aaron panels from MM #17... Brian Reed really caught the NextWave essence of the character.

I dropped this recently, # 15 was my final issue. The whole INITIATIVE direction thing didn't appeal to me for Carol (although I am interested in the younger heroes' take on it in Avengers: Initiative).

SECRET INVASION's hit MS. MARVEL. As with the main book, there's lots of identity-unsureness going on. Here, though, a Kree character's thrown into the mix. Her heli-carrier gets blown up, she reconnects with Simon (Wonder Man) in a way.
The issue's closing line is "Avengers Assemble", which was a nice touch and did make me want to read what's coming up.
The female Skrull featured throughout the story was a bit of a cardboard cutout, I thought. At least till the 'He loves you' line, which I wasn't expecting from this particular Skrull for some reason.

Ms. Marvel 37-- I've been buying this mostly out of force of habit, but this issue features a development worth noting... a probably faked death of Carol Danvers and Moonstone's total(?) assumption of the Ms. Marvel name.
Thoughts?

I love Moonstone, but I have no interest in her takeover of the Ms. Marvel book. Not unless they change writers, too, which isn't going to happen.

I'm not sure about it either, but it could be worth reading. Or, it could be a train wreck.
On the whole, I wish She-Hulk had been the Marvel heroine to keep a title, if one of them had to go.
What I'd *really* like, is a LIBERATORS title. I thought She-Hulk, Valkyrie and Thundra made a sublime group. Invisible Woman provided a needed variety, super-power wise. Carol Danvers would make a good addition, maybe using the Binary powers?
