The official DC Comics Message Boards are off line for the highly indefinite time being, as I found in my weekly check of their Legion board:
":: Upgrade In Progress :: The DC Comics message boards are temporarily offline for upgrades. Please visit again later to participate on your new and improved boards! Thank you for your patience."
Well, if they're smart, they'll (re)install some software similar in capabilities to UBB, rather than the botched cyberabortion they've had since the last "upgrade" 18 months ago. (And which started our peregrinations to this very lovely venue you're looking at right now.) A few cubic parsecs of room for improvement, I'd say.

They're just upgrading to the new version of their own software, as all the other WB boards have been using for a while.

Funny how I haven't even bothered to stop by since August. Couldn't care less.

Well, it's back up & looks rather different. I haven't tempted fate & tried it yet.
Gary, you'll need to change the DCMB Legion link on the main page.

Apparently DC also needs to change their links. All the links I have as well as those on the DC Comics site return a 404 error.

Do it Miner. It's like a trainwreck! You KNOW you want to look and see all the carnage...

Good lord! >choke<
That mess is unreadable. Is there a way to change that font? I can barely make out what any of that junk says.

See, it's not like a trainwreck.
It's like a bad art movie.
You spend valuable time trying to decipher what it is you're seeing and in the end it doesn't matter all that much.

When I signed in, I was informed I have 200 reward points. Does that get me an ashtray or something?

Huh. I can't find a way to have it post threads in chronological order, rather than newest post first. I hate that I can't have it the way I want it.
I havn't been on the their boards in a while (due to the general nastiness of people and feeling of exercises in futility), but I think this has finished them off for me.
Besides, 'tween here & the Geoff Johns Boards, I think I get to talk to all the cool comic people anyway.

Well, I can't sign in, anyway -- it doesn't take my previous ID and password, though it doesn't say that they're not accepted, either. Just redisplays "Welcome, Guest." Anyone have to re-register for this site? Should we even bother, I wonder?
On the plus side, no ads (yet), and they did seem to manage to transfer all the earlier threads. On the minus side, no setting to display messages from earliest first, it uses space horribly, and the type is too small.

Why support an inferior product?
I really wonder what's going on if a major media company can't come up with a decent message board.

Anyone have to re-register for this site? Should we even bother, I wonder? What happened to me is that, in a piece of complete idiocy from whoever programmed this (no chsnge there, huh?), I ended up in an infinite loop on the login page thanks to what should have said destination=(URL) in the login page URL actually reading destination%3D(URL) (%3D is the HTTP equiv of =, used to avoid browsers getting mixed up, since = itself has a special meaning.) Thus, rendering it as %3D meant it didn't know where to send me and I ended up back on the login page. When I manually broke myself out of that, it logged me it. Plus it has my display name as "Sanity Madness" and won't let me change it... sheesh...

I finally logged in, but my login name had to be put in all lower case (greybird). Did it actually SAY this anywhere? Nope, I experimented.
No signatures, no translation of past special-effects text (except bold and italic), no special effects (except bold, italic, underline), no smilies except about 30 generic ones, no link creation, no setting to change display order to latest-posts-last.
But I do have 200 "reward points," whatever the hell those are. And no Care Bears ads, at least for now.
Time Warner rules the world. Not! Still, it's the damnfool "official" Legion board, so it calls for an occasional eye upon it.

Looking at it hurt my whole face.

The DC board is still terrible. I absolutly hate the new post first format. I had hoped that they had at least fixed that. I know it's still the "offical" legion board, but when I'm looking for news I come here.

Well, I got on, by logging on, hitting the back button, and refreshing the screen, but it still sux! It has extra features that the previous board lacked (edit button) but the color scheme and the upside down posts make it bad!
