DC officially announced today that Human Target and Bloodhound are cancelled with issues #21 and #10, respectively. I haven't seen anything official on Fallen Angel yet. If it has been cancelled then DC has cancelled all but Losers of their lowerest selling titles, non-kid related.

I haven't been able to get an answer for this anywhere-- Why isn't FA a Vertigo title?
Their trade program is much better than DC proper, and thematically the book fits. I think putting the book out under the DC Bullet has been a disservice to both the title and to fans who MIGHT have picked it up from the get-go.
Speaking personally, all the coy bullshit about "Is she/isn't she PAD's Supergirl" kept me from getting the book sooner. Since picking the book up, the thought hasn't entered my mind at all, unless I read a thread on the FA boards asking about it.

Peter David just posted an update to his blog, and now even HE is confused. Even *I* don't know what's going on anymore
Heidi over on Comicon's "The Beat" stated that she was unable to get confirmation from DC that issue #20 of "Fallen Angel" will be the last one. Which has prompted a plethora of e-mail and sparking of hope from various fans, whereas I'm just left shaking my head and wondering what the hell is going on. All I can do is pass on what's told to me. I swear to you, right hand to God, if I hear anything different from what I've been told, I'll let you know...although it could wind up being contradicted 24 hours later...

Pov, it wasn't a vertigo title because it was to be one of four books that were the start of a new type of titles for dc. They were supposed to be edgier than the regular dc stuff, but not as out there as vertigo. the other books tanked pretty fast, but...typically, David writes some great stuff and his is the one book that makes it out of the fire, but now its in the fryin' pan.

I'm all for non-DCU titles under the DC bullet... EMPIRE and SPACE GHOST come to mind as two great titles with edgier yet non-Vertigo content. But I still contend that when the other books tanked, FA should have been moved over, for the trades support Vertigo titles get if nothing else. Well, I preordered 19 as I noted earlier, and still plan on preordering 20 as well. I'm also going to order the first trade along with a couple others from DCBS today. A couple more drops in the bucket, I know... but ya never can tell. Here's hoping.

So I just read Fallen Angel and it's pretty damn good. It's one of the few trades i would recommend for my gf to read (which I did).
It would make a great series for TV!

Why, have DC said there's going to be more? I do hope so. Fallen Angel has been one of my top monthly reads since it started. PAD has created a great cast of characters, given them all distinct (but not two dimensional) personalities and has created a whole world within a few issues. Plus there's so much we still don't know, so much that we could find out. I don't want to know everything (like I don't think I want to know if Lee is really an angel or not or if Dolf is Hitler) but I want to know what stories PAD wants to tell. Given the chance I could see Fallen Angel being a Sandman or something. Maybe a little slow to start with but intriguing and ultimately a really fanastic tale.
But people need to stick with it. They need to give it a chance to start with (and that's why I'm pleased to see so many people here who *have* given it a chance) and people need to not expect instant pay-off or 'villain of the week' type stories. That's not the way PAD writes when he's writing his best, but it seems to be the main market for comics which is a shame. In a lot of ways PAD writes like a small press writer but because he does 'superheroes' (of sorts) there's no market for him there. But since he doesn't write your bog standard superheroes a lot of the fan boys miss the point of his books. Which I think maybe is one of the reasons Fallen Angel should have beena Vertigo book. Not so he can have more sex and swearing, but so he doesn't have to try and get the same sales level as the DCU proper books. Vertigo titles never sell as well but almost uniformally (assuming they're actually good of course) they do sell consistently because they have a very different market than the main DCU or Marvel.

I read in a recent PAD interview (somewhere online) that Fallen Angel was cancelled and brought back. So they are skipping a month but right after they decided to cancel DC found out about large orders for both the trade and monthly. I ordered mine the first week of Januarary. The second they put out the 2nd one I shall get it.

I think the coming back still only refers to #18 and #19 though, and then things are still up in the air. You never know though, if they both do well and the trade does well they might still come back for more.

Looking for Earth Prime.

If it continues, it might not be at DC. Check out this article at Newsarama.

Read v.1. It's certainly interesting, lots of characters you want to know more about. Very captivating lead character. Good surprises. I could do with a little more moral discussion (such as it's okay to kill people who want to die) and a little less blood and gore.

1-6. Good story, but I didn't like it as much as later issues.

From this week's LitG: It appears that IDW is the front-runner to publish "Fallen Angel" once it ends its DC run with issue #20. Horror comics publisher IDW have made it clear that they wish to continue the series. And I understand that David is working on scripts past the DC-cancelled issue, involving the origin of the central character, the Fallen Angel.
It's interesting to note that while sales of the series were insufficient to justify continued publication from DC, they would make the title one of IDW's best sellers, and very profitable indeed.
I'm also told that the cover originally intended for issue 20, before the George Perez "Sachs And Violens" cover replaced it, is being considered as the cover to launch the first issue from the new publisher. The above quote was copied and pasted for what I took as the salient points. Check out the rest of what Rich J had to say about this in his LitG column at CBR. :fingersX: for a quick and easy jump from DC to IDW for FA.

I've never bought from IDW. But if Fallen Angel is there, so am I.
DC screwed the pooch again with this one.

Haven't read any IDW stuff and not a big fan of horror per se. I wonder if the book would change under IDW? But it's good to hear there's some hope for its continuation.

I've read the two "24" comics from IDW, and they've been pretty decent, if a bit strange, sicne the format doesn't quite translate to a comicbook that well, IMO.
IDW is a good up-and-comer in the independent scene these days, and is a great choice for Fallen Angel to go to, I think.

Rick, I'm gonna unflag this for now. We can tack it up again when/if there's word of a move/relaunch.

That will work. I have no problem with letting some other deserving threads have a shot. When we hear something, keep an eye on it. I will be refreshing it with new news.
And thanks, folks. This book is tooooo good to let go.
