Hi folks. I don't normally shill for books, but this is one i will do it for. If you haven't read this book, please do. It is one of the best books going. Peter David is telling a tight, highly enjoyable story. It is a lot darker than Legion, with some profanity and nudity, but the stories hit with impact. He just finished up the first 18 issues, and if you get a chance to read them, either through the books or the TPB's, i think you will find something enjoyable. It deals with the darker side, yes, but it is told with great care and many many many twists and turns. This book deserves to live. Right now it has had a small reprieve. There are going to be several more issues, as sales have picked up after the first tpb hit. But it needs support. If you have a marginal book you are thinking of dropping, or just enough empty soda cans to sell for the money if you are strapped (like me, lol), please do it and buy the book. Thanks. I bought the 1st tpb and really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next one. I would buy it issue by issue but there's no comic store up here.

Fallen Angel is always surprisingly good month after month i've enjoyed the life of the city and its citizenry -- the 'mystery connection' regarding Fallen Angel to past Superheroines is so besides the point and ancient history ... it's all about the pain, love, seduction, drugs, family and tourists running, gunning and playing through this book

Yep, another vote here for Fallen Angel. Consistently one of the best books on the market, sort of a corss between PADs Supergirl and Mike Carey's Lucifer. Only also not.
Suffice to say it's great and deserves to carry on for bloody ages. Sales picked up a little the last few issues (hence it coming back for at least #19 and #20 in the New Year) so hopefully that trend will continue. If you've not given it a look yet, I really recommend that you do now.

I've gotten the last four issues through a friend who gets comp issues-- not a pro, but he knows one -- and I've liked it. I don't know why I'm surprised, I usually enjoy PAD's stuff. I should add it to my preorders and give it some support rather than skeeving comps...

I'm probably the exception then. I picked the first 10 issues and then got bored. There's no denying it's very good, it's just not my cup of tea.
Actually, funnily enough, it is the only Peter David project in years that I have stopped buying.

Thanks to those of you that enjoy it. If you would, please pass around the good word. If you didn't but still tried it, thank you as well. Not every book suits every taste, but you did give it a go.
Please help us save a very good book. Thanks.

I bought the first trade a while back and, the way I see it, it's DC's turn to return the favor. The trade collects 1-6 and issues 7-12 can't be ordered from DC anymore (per Johanna, anyway). I'll keep supporting the title if DC puts out the following issues back in print, either seperately or collected.

Count me in as an avid fan of Fallen Angel since the beginning. This is PAD’s best work since Incredible Hulk IMO, and I loved Young Justice and his Aquaman. The characters are very interesting and fun to watch, especially the ones that first appear to be boring old bits of the same and then evolve into something more, like Shadow Boxer recently did. Also, the ‘feel’ of the book is unique in today’s market, and blends a bit of noir, mysticism/fantasy with “EC-ish” hard-broiled crime drama.
My favorite character and the one I’m most interested in, by far, is Dr. Juris. The Chief Examiner (his name escapes me at the moment) is also very interesting.
Listen to Rickshaw folks, and pick this up!

Dolf, yeah he's cool. I like the fact that there's a very real possibility that he's actually Hitler. In fact one of the things that i love about the book (and the same was true for Supergirl) is that PAD often doesn't give you all the info that you know he knows. He keeps you in the dark which just keeps you wanting to know more. Finding out Juris' origin in #18 was very cool (and it's a *great* origin) but I sort of don't want to know who Lee really is and where her powers come from. I think it's fair to say that while PAD was playing with the idea that she might be Linda/Supergirl in the first issues the last one pretty much made it clear that she isn't the same person. Or at least probably not. But he's unlikely to ever say for definate whether she is or not, and that works just fine for me.

Same here. I like not knownig. PAD has always said that not knowing Wolverine's origin was part of what made him so interesting, and I tend to agree. I like the mystery, especially Lee's origins.

i guess i'm the exception -- i don't like PAD's recent work (dropped his Supergirl & Aquaman as they bored me; Young Justice was just annoying to me) and i love THIS book
just picked up Fallen Angel 17 & 18 at my shop this week -- and there were a few times in each issue that either shocked or thrilled me into turning the page-- great writing with an artist whose having a ball with this world they've created
i tell people about Fallen Angel and their eyes tend to gloss over, they nod and murmur something about checking it out in trades (as they reach for some NEW X BOOK)
now i have no problem with the trade tactic -- i do it myself on many books -- but why doesn't DC use the trades more effectively? to me, it's totally cool if a series doesn't burn up the sales chart -- i'll still try it out in trade form (and even pull all the trades if it's good) -- discovered Hitman, Catwoman and Dial H this way -- but i get frustrated on titles where DC only puts out 1 or 2 trades and it's not convenient to find the remainder of the series
so far, they pulled stunts like this on Dial H, Catwoman, Hitman, Aquaman, even Legion (DNA anyway) ... and even Starman took an ice age to finish out in trades! this just seems like idiot publishing (sorry to say)
Marvel may do shorter runs and they may be filling the shelves with dozens of titles i wouldn't ever pick up, but i enjoy being able to pick up COMPLETE series (like X-Statix or Mystique or Runaways) in trades

Yeah, I wish the trade market would get sorted. Both the big companies need to realise that there is a big shift going on and there's a huge market for trades that maybe wasn't there a few years back. Sales on individual monthly books are dropping as people 'wait to see' but they're dropping on everything, not just new or lesser known titles. Something else else like Fallen Angel or Stars And S.T.R.I.P.E would benefit hugely from a good, committed trade run. Bring out a trade of the first four or five issues almost as soon as they're done (the first story arc or arcs) at a cheap price to grab people's attentions, then go for bigger books. That's what they did with Lucifer and it seems to have worked brilliantly. The sales on the regular title are good but not stratospheric but the sales on the trades are great. They bring out trades only a few months after the arc is done and it gives people a chance to pcik them up. They seem to being the same with Fables as well, but not with 'mainstream' DC books. OK so the Bat and Super and JLA books are always going to sell well, but I bet a large part of their market is the uber-geeks who will by the individual issues and *then* buy the trades as well. Smaller titles need a good programme of quick, cheap trades to bolster their sales. And they do as well. They can keep a lower selling book alive and going but only if Marvel and Dc put in the commitment to them. They also have the advantage that you can get them in regular book shops rather than just comics shops. The big aterstones here in Manchester has a huge comics section and they clearly sell well. Trades will never spell the end of regular monthly comics (or at least I hope not) but they are a big market that the big companies don't quite seem to have noticed properly yet. I mean, look at how well Hell Boy sells just through the trades.

Hey, if you like them, especially the Fallen Angel one and would like others, please write to DC and let them know.
The book is really fighting for it's life.
Thanks.

I have really enjoyed Fallen Angel so far even if Peter David is hit or miss with me.
I have the entire series and I will continue to support it.

Issue 18-- HOOOOOO-LY CRAP. Well, I folowed up on my intent to actually purchase this book -- I've tracked down 1-3, 7,8 and 18. And 18 blew me away. Incredible.

Thanks for the offer, Gazer. I've managed to track down all but 6 and 9-11 thru my local shops. I'll letcha know after I check the online places. This book went on my preorders with #19.

Bev-- I hear you, with regard to trades. Would this book be better served as a VERTIGO title, do you think? It certainly would fit. And as you noted, DC is much quicker and more committed, apparently, to getting those out in the trade format.
They really ought to move FA over, an not half-assedly, like Marvel did with switching X-STATIX to their Marvel Knights imprint.

Well, looks like our help wasn't enough. =/
In an interview with Fanboy Radio, PAD said that no issues beyond issue 20 have been ordered, as sales on the title are running about 4k behind what it needs to be profitable. So it's essentially cancelled unless sales for 19 spike back up.
