You poor thing.
I pity you.
You'll never know the orgasmic sensation as your eyes scan the UBER-hot artwork of Ed Benes and his blistering renditions of Oracle, Black Canary, Huntress, Cheshire and Lady Shiva...
You'll never feel the afterglow as you place the book aside after greedily devouring every page of Gail Simone's excellent scripts, a cigarette dangling from your lips...
You'll never know, that is, UNLESS YOU BUY THE BOOK! Get a clue, already!

I last got it -- even then, only on occasion -- when Power Girl guest starred. When did Gail Simone start writing it?
The new Huntress doesn't match up to the pre-Crisis one ... but then again, as Portfolio Boy suggested, who does? *sigh*

I bought the first issues when they collected them in Trade form... I got half way through it before I realized that it was boring me to tears. You're going to have to try the "hard" sale on me before I shuck out anymore change on BoP.

Fine, pity me. Just tell me when Gail Simone started writing it, already, so I'll have a place to start picking up back issues.

Back issues, you say? You are pitiable no longer!
Begin your search with BoP issue # 56, which is the start of the Simone/Benes reign!

And if you like those, go and pick up TPB's of the early Dixon/Land issues... the first two trades, I think...?

Land as in ... Greg Land? Before he went to CrossGen with his stellar technique? Now, that would be a budget-buster.

Yeah Grey, Greg Land! His first comic art that I know of was a nice run on Birds of Prey, and what a great looking run! He's the reason the series really took off IMO, and he drew an amazing Black Canary (and Oracle!). You should really check it out, there's some beautiful art in there. (I think Butch Guice was the next to have a good run, which was also beautiful).
As to recent issues: HOLEY MOLEY! Wow, Cheshire is a freakin' hottie! Dinah has never looked hotter! Shiva can kick my ass so hard that I'm really in love! And Huntress is my new favorite Super-Heroine in any universe! She's the hottest, and has the best attitude (although her best line was in Outsiders where she told Black Lightning "No offense, but get the hell out of here").
The humor is great too, I liked the scene earlier in the series when the parking garage cop makes Huntress promise to take him out on a date. And I really like the relationship being developed between Shiva and Dinah. The fact that Shiva will kill Cheshire if she does something to Dinah is a cool way of looking at how the three of them are working together in this arc.

Pity as a hard sell technique... Ahh... Nope doesn't work. Not unless you got a whole lot more pity. And maybe some pity in pretty colors too.

My only problem with BoP right now is that Gail and Devin G from NIGHTWING have conspired to keep Dick out of the book --- which means we don't get to see Benes draw him anywhere near enough!

After the good buzz, its receiving here, I may pick up the latest Trade and give it another try. I was in Richmond a few weeks back on an action figure/fodder run and my wife saw the book and asked me if I was reading it. She doesn't read comics, so if it caught her eye there must be something going on.
