I thought something hugely momentous was supposed to happen in this issue? Did I miss something? Believed the hype once again, most likely.
The most memorable panel in the book, for me, was the expression on Jessica Midnight's face when Max taunted/confronted Sasha. What was she thinking? Is *she* the 'one' Max mentions whose mind he couldn't reach/use, who was protecting Sasha?
So Clark Kent's under Max's 'spell'... hmmm. I forgot to look at the 'Superman' books this week-- I'm not a constant reader. Did the SACRIFICE storyline kick off in one of Supes' books this week, or will that be next week?
I thought the Wonder Woman/Guy Gardner fight was both pointedly interesting and a silly waste of space. My basic attitude is that most of the Leaguers wouldn't think in terms of 'my' league the way Guy does (if one did, though- it'd be him). It's human for that underlying feeling to color actions-- but not so much as a self-aware judgment.
However, a sizeable contingent of readers feels exactly the way Guy does, I'd think. 'Their' league's been getting the rough end of the lash for awhile, now. I suspect quite a few readers felt some degree of satisfaction at Guy Gardner's outburst.
That the sentinels-- I mean OMAC thingies-- bleed was an intriguing surprise. This is a well-executed miniseries-- obviously leading somewhere... but it remains my least favorite of the five. Possibly because it's a bit too Bat-centric. I like Sasha, though.

Read OP # 1-3 today, can't get over how great all these minis are, I'm loving them!
But if they think I'm buying those SUPERMAN books, they're nuts.
Indeed, Todd, I found it somewhat satisfying that Booster did leave with Guy Gardner. You hit that on the head.

I'm loving The Omac Project too. I actually think it might be my favourite of the Infinite Crisis lead-in minis, though Batman's arrogant portrayal is definitely my least favourite part of it. (I really hope he gets some type of comeuppence before its over.)
But I'm just getting a real sense of danger and excitement in Rucka's story here that I'm not getting from the other minis - it really feels like Max has the heroes exactly where he wants them and that they're not gonna be able to get out without taking some heavy losses. And he's really made me care for all of them - even characters I'd never read before like Sasha. My heart stops every time my old fave, Rocket Red, comes onto the page!
The only thing I didn't get though was the scene with Wonder Woman, Booster and Guy. I thought Diana was a part of their Justice League. OK - she wasn't a member during the Giffen/Maguire days but she did lead the team (including Beetle and Booster - can't remember if Guy was there though) during the Judgement Day era. That was the same League wasn't it?

The way I figure they see it, is the JLA Giffen "glory days" team, from the first couple of years... which I would imagine would include:
Beetle, Booster, Guy, Fire, Ice, Mr. Miracle, Captain Atom, Martan Manhunter and sometimes Barda. Possibly Black Canary.
I could also see them mayyyyybe including Power Girl, Elongated Man and the Flash from the Europe branch.
Guy and Booster's reaction makes perfect sense to me. In their eyes, they were the "put-upon" League, the "looked down on" JLA, even more so than JLA Detroit. I love that they've split on their own and hope they gather as many of their contemporaries as they can to kick Max' ass.
I wish that Martian Manhunter would stick up for them and hope they earn Batman's respect, though they shouldn't *have* to do that.

that's a good point, i did get the impression this was leading up to a 'Extreme Supper-Buddies' type team.
Of course, to do that, they'd need a new Blue Beetle, which also seems hinted at in the series, and who better than someone feeling guilty over his death? Sasha as BB3 seem likely?

Well, I certainly didn't see THAT happening to Sasha...but I absolutley loved the fact that Booster and Co. were the calvary. I bet J'onn must be mucho chagrined now...
The best part of this issue? Guy laying his hand on Michael's shoulder and saying he'd take Fire to the hospital. That was freakin' awesome. It shows a respect/camraderie between ALL the JLI-members that was lacking even in their glory days.
I hope this characterization of Guy's of late sticks. That one gesture added more depth to Guy than half the stories of the last decade have.
I also have to say that I find myself avidly glued to the small snippets of the JLI in this series and not really caring about anyone else.
And then there's Booster's slip....I'm still trying to figure out how he knows what he knows. Any guesses? I mean, I know he's from the future but there was supposed to be a history gap during the age of heroes, right? So how does he remember certain things?

Jamie Ahhh, now that makes a bit more sense. I wasn't reading/collecting during the period when Booster came on the scene nor during the JLI days so I know very little of his story. Though I've heard that he is from the future, it isn't in the forefront of my mind and this exchange didn't make a great deal of sense to me until I read your post. I was also surprised to see Mary Marvel in that group. Was she a member of the JLI? Don't think I ever knew that.
"Hey Jim! Get Mon out of the Zone!! And...when do we get Condo back?"

Mary's a member of the Super-Buddies. I thought her inclusion was odd too.
Unless things changed post-Crisis, there was a history gap for a while. I'm pretty sure that originally started during the Legion to stop time-travelling Legionaires from know too much. Marvel had something similar with their War of the Worlds stuff.
As for the early Booster, there were always tidbits that he got from Skeets but the stuff that we are reading about was always supposed to have been lost. So how he knows doesn't make sense unless it's a retcon or something. Booster didn't appear until post-Crisis. But since his original equipment was tied to the original Legion, some of this may have been changed.

Cal, I'm guessing there's a few more on the slate to be wiped clean.
That person's very appearance in this book pretty much guarranteed that would happen. I was hoping it wouldn't because it's another needless instance of this but it didn't really suprise me it happened.
What is interesting now is we have the both old JLI and Satellite-era groups running around the DCU calling themselves the Justice League. I'm thinking post-IC will eventually see an amalgam of the two groups.

Whatever happened to the group that both Beatriz and Tora were a part of...The Global Guardians? Are they still around or merely "kaput"?

Last I remember, they lost their funding when the UN went to the JLI. Most disappearded after an aborted attempt at taking over the world and Doctor Mist and Jack O' Lantern ended up in Primal Force while it lasted.

This was the only OMAC thread I could find ... Here's an awesome preview to the new #1 ! http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/09...an-didio-keith-giffen-and-scott-koblish/ Giffen's art seems to be a compromise between his super hero style and his stylized gritty style. It's much like his work on the end of Outsiders. I like the 'look' of OMAC ... big, blue, mohawk. especially his introduction splash page Click Here For A SpoilerI AM OMAC!!! now that's how you use a splash page .. in story! ... Click Here For A SpoilerOMAC looks a bit fishy though. The costume is nice and shiny with those glowing photoshop effects. Click Here For A Spoiler Jody robbins seems ripe for a confrontation and to stick around as a member of the supporting cast One thing I really liked is this surreal bit Click Here For A SpoilerOMAC getting his intell from the tv There's a lot of good stuff in this 5 page preview, the ball is already rolling.
