Well, after DC ran the series into the ground and ensured it would indeed finally be cancelled, the final issues of Jonah Hex have been a return to form. They've been very good, and the final issue was downright fantastic.
Of course, it helps when Darwyn Cooke shows up with his A-game. Cooke is as good as it gets in comics, and he also brings out the best in Graypal. This issue was beautiful from start to finish and brought a brilliant end to the series, using a classic western trope. The final panel, brought to us as only Darwyn can, gives Jonah somewhat of a happy ending--or at least new chapter in his life, and I love that it's both with Tallulah and has them leaving the "old west" behind.
Ah, if only DC could have left well enough alone. But there is no need to be too glum. There is something like 100 amazing issues of Jonah Hex over the last decade, and I can't wait to someday revisit them.
