"Darkseid vs. Ambush Bug" by the Brothers Grinn

Finally, we have the entry by the Brothers Grinn.

Ambush Bug, in a rather uncharacteristic burst of athletics, takes on Darkseid himself. Let's file this under "unlikely" and look at the artistic merits. First off, the details and coloring are even better than their usual quality. And, as always, it's hilarious.

But on the merits of character interaction and movement, this also works quite well. Ambush Bug himself isn't given any motion aside from the natural freefall of a non-flier, but the omega beams and the sound effect, and even the Cheeks doll, give the image a lot of energy.

I like him. The first comic I read with Ambush Bug was the Subs Special and it was hilarious. One of the funniest Legion comics ever. Maybe *the* funniest!
Ambush Bug screams "Give me my own cartoon". If they ever made a cartoon with him, I'll bet it'd be wackier than the wackiest Daffy Duck/Bugs Bunny cartoons.

He's not the kind of guy that you'd notice most of the time... but every once in a while he'll sneak up and jump out at you. It's kind of annoying.

With so many fans of the Buggy era of DC now involved heavily with the company as creators... how much longer can it possibly be before we get another Bug tale/mini/special?

The return of Captain Carrot was only the beginning...

I just loved his DC comics presents issue when he "accompanies" Supes into the future to meet the Substitute Heroes... the single most funny issue in my whole collection. Stone Boy being stuck in concrete for nearly the whole story... oh my...
