Just wondering what you think are the most illogical costumes 30th/31st Centurians have been known to wear. Things like Nightgirl revealing as much skin as she could to the light, when she only had powers in the dark (given that limitation, I'd have worn a burka).

Suggestions?

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Night Girl's non-outfit was the first thing that came to my mind as well, though I'd also vote for both Cosmic Boy's black Dr. Frankenfurter outfit and Colossal Boy's headpiece-but-no-sleeves-or-pantlegs number of the same era.

Mike Grell, who designed all three costumes, was an excellent artist, but as a costume designer, he left a lot to be desired.

I also wondered about Laurel Kent barely there red wrap (although I liked the design)

I agree with everyone else about Cosmic Boy, Collosal Boy and NIght Girl.

Also, Saturn Girl's pink bikini really wasn't practical.

Actually, I was just thinking about the Blok with shoulderpads outfit -- there's a guy that definitely didn't need them.

What about Triad's "loincloth" look? Seems very impractical for one who has to rely on man-to-man fighting. Seems there'd be too much flapping.

Do you think Polar Boy ever had trouble hearing with that big furry cap on his head?

And really, why would Duo Damsel have an outfit that split into orange and purple jumpsuits when she split? Talk about taking away the element of surprise. Everyone would know wether she was one or two people.

Not really impractical, but why was Phantom Girls outfit all white? Didn't matter what color she wore, it would disappear with her anyway.

While it factored into my early enjoyment of the Legion laugh , Saturn Girl's pink bikini outfit never really made sense... especially with the attempts to portray her as an ice-princess, "Old Iron-Butt".

Not that I'm reeeeaally complaining... love wink SaturnGirl

Haven't seen one.

I'm hoping this'll get covered in the Legion Companion book.

I think the biggest "Eh... WHY???" Legion costume has GOT to be Rokk's Grell-designed black bustier. I mean, it seems like the top of that thing would bruise his nipples something fierce.

White. A blank page or canvas. His favorite. So... many... possibilities.

Have to agree with Rokk's number from the Grell days. Did that costume really serve any function or point beside being a costume without pink or purple for Cos, because that's the only purpose for it I can think of. love Can't blame 'em for trying!

Any costume with a thong seems pretty illogical to me.

Mucous hanging off your sleeves could be a tad impractical, if not repulsive.

I always figured Grell for a closet case because of his Cosmic Boy, Colossal Boy and Warlord costumes.

Come on--a guy with a helmet, fur jockstrap, boots and a sword? How gay is that?

RE: Triad's current costume. I agree that it would get in a way when she's fighting. I wish she'd go back to her old one--this one looks like maternity businesswear. I swear that big white square in front looks like a maternity panel. Why isn't she at least wearing a Legion belt? I get the impression she's being demoted to office personnel, which is NOT acceptable.

well, about Grell costumes....I loved them! allright, call them a fashion statement! Remember in 1980s, where girls wore leg warmers as fashion statement and guys wore bright hot colors too? We all went through many changes...as for this current era, it is illogical for me to see how can young guys be wearing baggy pants HALFWAY below their waist! *rubbing eyes*

but..I don't complain. It's their fashion statement. Oh...how I miss Colossal Boy's and Cosmic Boy's legs...damn!

I suspected that Grell is bisexual but not gay. Way back in late 1980s (1988? 1989?), I went to a comic convention in VA and Wash DC, I saw Grell wearing a BIG diamond earring on his ear, that gave me a vibe thinking that he was gay or whatever. That kind of earring that no straight guy would want to wear in public, only gay guy would wear. Thus, my Gaydar beeped low.

His Warlord and his Green Arrow were so sexy...I had a fantasy on them having threesome with me. angel

Forgot to add, especially when she's being drawn by Jim Sherman. SaturnGirl

I've blasted artists in the past for forcing female superheroes to fight crime in their bathing suits, but Imra's my weakness.

Ya know, I remember thinking the exact same thing back around the time Tinya was first referring to Imra as an "Ice Queen." Thinking over her depiction around that time, the term did seem to fit. But with that costume, chee, she was pretty "out there" for a personality that was supposedly so reserved.

It made perfect sence to me when she switched back to her earlier costume.
