Wow, tough one. My favorite Legion characters were in the Perez group shot, and the Giffen piece was the most fun as far as picking out all the different characters. I thought the Manapul piece was the best composed, but the drawback there was the Waid Legion characters. I had never seen the Toonverse illustration before, and that was kind of neat as well. In the end, my all time favorite is probably the Alex Ross poster group shot, but in this case I voted for the Gary Frank portrait!

For me it's the Alan Davis one. And if that's not available, then it's the one with every character in the history of the reboot Legion--who drew that, Batista? Of the ones that are here, I dunno. Adams, I guess.

I LOVE that one. The only thing is, they did Saturn Girl's costume detailing wrong. Otherwise, it's brilliant!

Well, that's not quite big enough for me to make out any of it, SAL.

I voted Perez for a couple reasons. I like the composition better, you can really see the Legionnaires rather than just a bunch of faces hidden behind the first row. Also, the dynamic poses really help. The fact that the Legionnaires aren't just standing around (like the Giffen one) really appealed to me. You can get a very real sense of their power in that one.
I also liked Francis' in term of composition and showcasing the Legionnaires individually as well, but I think Perez's was just stronger.
Long Live the Legion!

It was a toss up between Gary Frank and Neal Adams, but I went with Adams. Simple and classic.

I sometimes dream of an oversized Legion tabloid illustrated by Alex Ross. Each member would get a spotlight within the larger, epic plotline.
pleasant sigh....

I always loved the Giffen group shot - but I am swept away by the Perez one, oh my how come I never did see that one in my live? As a diehard Legion AND Perez fan?
When was that one published? Any chance I might get it as a poster?
Another shot I really liked was the one from Ross in JUSTICE #12 - liked that one better than the Ross pic posted here...

I'm just amazed by that Alex Ross illustration. I'm also curious about who, besides Shadow Lass, I'm seeing in Wildfire's visor.

The Alex Ross version is magnificient, but my quibble with it is that you can't see most of the characters' faces. Legionnnaires are more than just costumes, codenames, and powers; they are personalities, too. Several of the other versions did a better job of capturing those personalities.

Ah, I see them now. Thanks, KryptonKid. I was entertaining the notion that perhaps it was a couple more subs.

(plus the LSH Cruiser, which was certainly not a rip-off of Enterprise.) [/b]thought it was Star Boy (see the raised arms? that's not Dream Girl), hand of Tyroc, Chemical King, and Shadow Lass. Now the real question is who is flying the Legion Cruiser? Invisible Kid I?

I respectfully disagree. Tyroc is behind Wildfire's head. I see Dream Girl as the white blur under Thom, with her arms trailing behind her.

I agree that Tyroc is behind Wildfire's visor.
Whoever is next to the cruiser in the reflection is wearing a cape, I think and the other figure, the one on the top left, has his arms raised.
And the cruiser doesn't look like Enterprise, but it DOES resemble an early Klingon cruiser, to some extent, imo.

I have some favorite group shots but they are hard to find on the web : Adventure era Legion by an Archie Legion artist. They are flying from the left with the headquarters in the background. Group shot of the Greg Larocque Legion wherein they are running from the right. Group shot of the Greg Larocque Legion from Who's Who entry. Double page cover of Who's Who in the Legion number 6. I hope somebody has scans of these that they can share.

Hey col, I'm pretty sure I have all the comics that contain the images you mentioned. It'll just take me a bit to get things scanned and put together.
