I do believe Povvins has some "NEWS OF INTEREST" for fans of Keith Giffen, as well as fans of re-dialogued classic comics like LAST KISS!
I know it certainly interested ME!
Povvins....?

GLEAGH! *SPLUT* Who, me??? OH. Yeah. I -do- . GIFF FANS! It's been reported at Newsarama that Ross Richie, formerly of Atomeka, is starting up a new imprint, Boom! Comics-- Which, among other things, will be the new home for Giffen & DeMatteis' current series, HERO SQUARED. Boom! will also be collecting Giff's TRENCHER, formerly published by Image. Both items will be in the solicits for May. And fans of LAST KISS won't want to miss this-- WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? CLASS COMICS is a one-shot where Giffen is taking an old WWII comic and rewriting the dialogue "in his classic Lobo/Ambush Bug style" ! This is on the schedule for a June release along with Heroes Squared #2. FYI!

At last! Spoof book for the Easy Company set. I wonder if he could pencil in Ambush Bug for a few panels?
I'm also looking forward to Giffen's take on the Defenders in June. But with JLA Classified, that means I've got three extra pamphlets on the list, all because of Giff. The price of devotion...

Don't wanna take a chance on whether DC will collect this arc of Classified?

Nothing is definite until it's in your hands, but I'm counting on this account from CBR: http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=4585 Earth is screwed. A monstrous extra dimensional sorcerer has a scheme to conquer our planet and the only heroes who can stop him are a group that spends more time fighting each other than whatever villain they are up against. This is the premise behind Marvel's new four-issue "Defenders" mini-series by the acclaimed creators of DC's "Formerly Known as the Justice League" mini-series: Keith Giffen, J. Marc DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire.

HERO SQUARED # 1 was in my pulls! But I had to limit myself to $30, so I elected to go with DEFENDERS now and HERO SQUARED next week!
Can't wait to check it out!

Defenders was probably a good choice. The Hero Squared special (whatever that earlier first issue was) was good but not knock-out. However, they're working with all new characters and have to establish who's who and doing what... still, a few good jokes & I like the idea of a slacker confronted with his other-dimensional heroic self. (Give it one tit, I guess.) I'll try the H.S. #1 and see how the story develops.
Upcoming: re-issue of The March Hare, which I've heard about but never read, in October I think.

I first noticed Giffen on "Justice" (that "New Universe" title), when his style got dark. It really stood out and I was taken by its mood. Dr. Fate followed and his art is what brought me to the Legion when vol4 (TMK) came out. It took me years (not kidding) to fing the last issue of Video Jack...and then it was in a quarter bin that I happened to be rummaging through.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

I read HERO SQUARED # 1.
It had enough Giffenisms and DeMatteisesque dialogue that I will continue with it for now. I *do* wish Giffen was doing the art, though.
Runaway favorite character thus far: SLOAT!

Yessir... Giff takes an old war comic drawn by the late, great Wally Wood and gives it the LAST KISS treatment! Newsarama has an article with previews here.

I just stumbled upon an old cache of Penthouse Comix and, lo and behold, a number of issues with stories by Mr. Giffen. Dirty sex and all!

The first story I found was in PC #14 (1996), "Miss Adventure". About an "unsullied lassie" who says a magic word to turn into a super-powered woman with assets similar to Power Girl.
The story continues into #15 which also has a one-shot by Giffen called "Missy Muerte". Kind of an extreme Death (from Sandman) story.
In #16 Giffen took on writing the continuing story of Young Captain Adventure. I think the story started all the way back in #1 and, at least for the first five issues, featured the pencils of Adam Hughes. In #16 Bart Sears did the art.
I'm not sure how many more issues he worked on since the next one I have is #21.
