(title changed to include discussion on all GIFFEN comics)
Does anyone know if any more issues of Giffen's VALIANT series PUNX exist after issues 1-3 of the series and the Manga PUNX Special?

According to The Slings & Arrows Guide, there were 4 issues in addition to the Manga Special. They also say that "subsequent one-shots were solicited, but never issued".
"A bunch of the most futile and occasionally disgusting paranormals imaginable (Ma'am Marie? The Crimson Pigeon? P.M.S. the Para-Military Shrew?) ...thwart (mostly inadvertently) the plans of an evil collective creature, The Veil."
Sounds like classic Giffen to me.

*heh heh!* Thanks, Cramey!
I have issues 1-3 and the Manga Punx special, but somehow never got issue 4. Now that I know it in fact DOES exist, I'll have to have it!
And it is classic Giff, with character whose powers include the ability to cram their body into any space (the drawback being that their mass remains constant) and a hot chick who gains any powers and abilities from anyone she ritually sacrifices!

I think you're probably right, Amentep. Although it was listed as published by Slins & Arrows, a further search reveals that it was in Previews but never released - there were also four issues of Punx Redux in the same boat, as described at this site: summaries of unpublished Punx, with covers PUNX #4 by Keith Giffen, w/Claude St. Aubain Keith Giffen produces the strangest Valiant story ever! In the town of Acclamation, Oregon, nothing is as it seems. Join the PunX crew as they stumble through the Valiant Universe, leaving a wake of chaos, property destruction, and offended readers! This issue: It's the fourth issue of PunX, and Giffen's promised us that somehow all of the disparate elements he introduced into what he laughingly calls a plot line will come together in a conclusion of cataclysmic proportions. He's told us that before, so don't hold your breath. You bought the first three—why not go for the full set? FC, 32pg (4 of 4) $2.50 Geez, I hope I didn't inadvertently damage Lash's Fragile Psyche!

It's not the despair that kills, it's the hope....
Still, #4 and ReduX might exist somewhere - in a warehouse in the Bronx? In Keith Giffen's mom's attic? Is this the Valiant equivalent of Shooter's Last Legion Story?

Yeah I really enjoyed PunX and wish 4 and the second miniseries had come out. I kinda got the impression reading that most recent Keith Giffen Image series that's name escapes me that it was mining some of the same territory and PunX did, but I didn't think it was as interesting as PunX was.

I never even bothered with DOMINION. Guess it's a good thing I didn't.
The Giffster needs to stick with his FKAJL and AMBUSH BUG (currently in LOBO UNBOUND) stuff!
I may or may not try his THANOS-- I'll wait and see what Povvins has to say about it.
I'm intrigued by the recent rumour that Giffen and Maguire will be doing a miniseries for MARVEL in the same vein as FKAJL. Last speculation I read on it was that it will be a DEFENDERS revival...

Wow Lash, I hadn't heard that rumor! That would be great!
Imagine the Hulk, Namor, Dr. Strange and the Surfer drawn by Maguire with Giffen's humor!
IMO, Giffen is the funniest Comic Book writer ever. Ambush Bug and his Justice League stories are hysterical, and I think Lobo: Paramilitary Christmas Special (the original) is the funniest story that I've ever read. His Lobo is hit or miss for me, but sometimes it's right on the mark. At one point, I was a huge Lobo fan, but now the character can get on my nerves unless he's done right and in quick doses. Definately a good move to have Ambush Bug show up.
The Heckler, the Subs special and a lot his other stuff are just as funny too. Amazing how he could switch gears from the Legion TMK in it's ultra-seriousness to the Heckler.
I eagerly await Giffen's work from Marvel and DC. I wish he and Maguire could just do an ongoing of FKATJL...

The last series with Busiek and Larsen had some funny moments with Namor and the Hulk constantly bickering (or pummeling). If they really want to keep with FKAJL though, they should do the "Great Lakes Avengers" but I guess that has less marquee value than "Defenders"

I just want to see Giffen write Dr. Strange in a sarcastic witty manner! And see Maguire draw the Surfer with some funny facial expressions!

*sigh* I still miss Vext.
When is Giffen's run on Thanos starting? I'll try anything Giffen writes [at least once!]

VEXT was great, I re-read it every couple years or so. All 6 issues of it... *sigh*
(at least Giff's failed DC series-- HECKLER and VEXT-- were given conclusions. UNLIKE with the Valiant PunX series. They should never have published the Manga Special before PunX # 4!! *grumble, grouse*)

Yeah that was backwards, I suppose. I'd liked for PunX to have concluded as well...

Did Giffen write "Video Jack"? I seem to remember him doing art on that.
I first noticed Giffen on "Justice" (that "New Universe" title), when his style got dark. It really stood out and I was taken by its mood. Dr. Fate followed and his art is what brought me to the Legion when vol4 (TMK) came out.

My first exposure to Giffen's art would have had to been either All-Star Comics (in which he does a good Wally Wood impersonation) or The Defenders (where he did a good Jack Kirby impersonation)
Drake, I have 1 issue of VIDEO JACK in a box somewhere, I'll have to check it out and see.
Giffen (and the Bierbaums) also did work on T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents together prior to their Legion stint. Some darn good LIGHTNING and MENTOR stories there.

The first thing I saw Keith Giffen and began to keep track of his name was the 70s Challengers of the Unknown revival where he was working in a Neal Adams-esque style.
