Yeah...Marvel has pretty much dragged the #1 thing to the edge of the cliff kicking and screaming, and DC is about to join in and push it over the edge.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

I'm surprised DC has never listed a comic called Bizarro #1.

Hopefully, they'd be smart enough to make it Bizarro #-1!

You're not kidding. Captain America has about 5 #1's and all of them except one are probably worth about as much as a snickers bar.

As if on cue to answer Double Chinner's question in the other thread, Blue Beetle is announced.
Also announced is Suicide Squad.
Looks like Adventure is out, Batman Beyond is not included in the 52 and JSA is out? Secret Six also done since Deadshot is in SS.
Unless Action is also delayed because of Grant Morrison...

Ugh. If Damien is Robin and Tim Drake is written out, that will infuriate me. Moreso than anything else that DC could do. Since I haven't seen you comment, I'm curious what you now think of the news that Tim exists... but has apparently been ripped out of Bat-history to be introduced as a newbie in Teen Titans . (Also, Cassie as "belligerent thief"? Huh?) Originally posted by Cobalt Kid: Watchmen – this is entirely unsubstantiated, just heresy thus far.
Heresy? Freudian typo of "hearsay"?

Must be! As for Tim and Titans, I think it's terrible. Ridiculously awful and possibly the worst part of all of this. The Titans premise really looks like crap.

It's good to see that Yildray is still out there (on Fury of Firestorm). I may not love the Frank-designed costumes he got stuck with, but his art has been cool.

So the JSA may not be published any more, but we will have All-Star Western. It's like 1951 all over again!
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I realize a big shock is no Superman / Batman! Perhaps the biggest dropped ball of them all, as it should easily be the #1 comic every month.

Not likely to pick up the new Suicide Squad book. It's a shame because I really have been jonesing for one since the Secret Six/Suicide Squad team-up last year. I'd be totally onboard if John Ostrander or Gail Simone were writing. Instead we get this Adam Glass whom I've never heard of.
The real deal-breaker, though, is that the book features....Harley Quinn?!? REALLY?!?! I LOVED Harley on the old Batman animated series, but, IMO, she's translated very poorly into the DCU. And putting her in the Suicide Squad seems like the worst fit yet. Punch and Jewelee fit in just fine, but Harley is a different matter, I feel. Even with an unknown writer, I would've given it a chance if the lineup was appealing. While having Deadshot aboard is a plus, I'd rather see him with Bronze Tiger, Boomerbutt and some of the other standards.
Too bad.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I'll get the first few issues of Squad at least, just to give it a chance. I liked Secret Six well enough, but I really didn't think Deadshot ever fit well enough there (his best issues were Ostrander penned). I also doubt it will be just a three person squad, so the rest of the cast may surprise. We'll see.

Frankenstein, Agent of Shade (Jeff Lemire & Alberto Ponticelli)
The Fury of Firestorm (Ethan Van Sciver, Gail Simone & Yildray Cinar)
Hawk and Dove (Sterling Gates & Rob Liefeld)

Justice League Dark (Peter Milligan & Mikel Janin)
Justice League International (Dan Jurgens & Aaron Lopresti)
Legion Lost (Fabian Nicieza & Pete Woods)
Legion of Superheroes (Paul Levitz & Francis Portela)

I agree with Lardy about Harley Quinn in the comics. The way she's been written has been way too Mary Sue-ish, as if she's sacrosanct and can't be shown for an instant as anything but the coolest character that ever lived. Which means I want someone to beat the living crap out of her (c'mon Huntress!).
I'm really on the fence about Suicide Squad. I love the Squad and everything about the premise and history of the title but the preview didn't really excite me all that much.
I'm also unsure about Blue Beetle. I bought Jamie's first entire series and liked it well enough; but at the end of the day, he's still the most second-rate of all Blue Beetles from what we've seen so far. The one plus is Tony Bedard who might be able to change that finally. But I'm giving it the Lash 1,2,3 rule: one issue to hook me and the second issue better keep me around or its dropped.

Huntress? If anybody should get to knock Haryley around, it should be Molly Mayne-Scott. And then make her a sidekick to the *original* Harlequin. But that ain't gonna be happening, since a line in the solicit for the new ACTION COMICS states: "This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero." Bye-bye JSA and all characters derived from it. No Obsidian or Jade. No Sand or Atom-Smasher. No Hourman or Dr. Midnight. No Crimson Avenger. Unless they all have operated in secret since WWII? Perhaps ACTION takes place on a different Earth-- as indeed I've read the supposition that all the 52 titles take place on a different of the 52 Earths.

I'm curious how many people pick up Batgirl and whether it's A matter of "give it a chance" vs "hell no, screw them for devolving Barbara from Oracle".
Plus, with more than 10 Bat-titles (including Batwoman), Babs comic has to compete with others since it's unlikely someone is going to buy them all. (Which is why Winnick's Bat-Wing isn't even in consideration for me). Is there still enough there to make her as interesting as Bruce and Dick?
