Week 47 is out and it's got lots of different storylines running through it.

My main question is "What's the deal with Nanda Parbat?" I don't think I've ever heard of it before 52 and now it seems like everyone and their sidekick has been there this past year. It's got to play some big part in the conclusion, don't you think?

Can anyone provide more background on this place? Where has it been seen before?

Nanda Parbat is part of the Deadman mythos. It's the dwelling place of Rama Kushna, the figure responsible for turning Boston Brande into Deadman. It's basically a Shangri-La analogue.

I'm glad to see a number of storylines advancing this week, in contrast to "The Black Adam show" that it had become for a while.

However, what awful art! And I'm not exactly crazy about the looks of next week's either, from what I see in the "next in 52" box.

And now it's 10 weeks without Booster/Rip/Skeets.

Thanks EDE.

I also want to see the Booster/Skeets story!

Only 3 weeks to World War III...

I didn't mind the art, just that faces weren't all that distinct. Jimmy Cheung sort of style- good at the energy and the action, okay with the quieter moments.

I have the utmost respect for Tim Drake now. He can sit chatting idly with the most wonderful woman in the world and not stammer, stutter, blush, pant, or trip over his own words.

The little aside for Diana was nice, if predictable. It's good to see some explanation for her new status. And it fit well with the new arc starting in WW #6.

As for Batwoman and the Crime Bible... Whisper and the boys must not be able that bright if it took them 5 months to figure out the "twice NAMED" referred to her name. Tho', I'm still working on the "twice" part.

Seeing Nightwing and the Question team up will be fun.

Yeah, the Booster/Skeets thing really needs to be resolved. We've only got 6 weeks to go, and week 50 is already spoken for (WWIII)!!

Can't wait for the Booster Gold series! smile

I actually loved the art for 47. one of the better issues artwise in my opinion.

A pretty predictable week, imho. IOt all revolves around Montoya, Intergang and Batwoman with Nightwong thrown in.

Not that I was displeased, but we pretty much knew what was going to happen a while ago. Oh, I hope Kate makes it through...

Last page was a nice build up to WWIII. Not sure how it'll play out. Will Black Adam just be someone's stooge? Maybe at the hands of a transformed Mr. Mind? The cocoon from waaaaay back.

Still enjoying the ride.

Montoya putting on the mask made so little sense. What questions did she need the mask to get answered? Abbot already told her, sans mask, where to find Mannheim.

Despite that nitpick, I enjoyed the issue, and I think the art was an improvement over last week. Chung Tzu and Sivana were very true to form at the end. And I really hope Batwoman pulls through...not because I'm at all invested in the character, but because it would suck if no one whose origin is in this series is alive at its end (ref Isis and Osiris).

I just can't get used to the Question being a woman. frown The visual I mean.

I think Batwoman is not going to make it. While they made her "cool" I just think the concept of a Batwoman is kinda silly. I can't see them keeping it.

I agree that it would bite if all characters introduced during this series die. I'm still upset about Isis...geez I really got attached to her quickly. Must be the young fan boy in me remembering the Saturday morning cartoons.

I think Kate is safe... They've been saying all along that we have to feel vested in a character to appreciate the death. And there's been very little development for out lady of the Bat.

This was the weakest wrap ups we've had so far. I didn't mind seeing Renee don the mask, but it did seem unnecessary. And Brother Abbot just betraying his gang because he was tired of their prophesies?

But there was a certain Apokolyptian feel to the fire pits, wasn't there?

I almost can't believe they had the nerve to make a splash page out of Montoya donning the mask. It has got to be one of the most anti-climactic moments of the series since it was predicted by fans since almost the very beginning and I didn't see anyone getting excited about it. I also thinks she looks ridiculous (the crappy art didn't help).

The visual of a no-face man works better than a woman. Just my opinion.

Seen this yet?

<span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text"> 52 cover #48 from Newsarama </span></span>

I know Metal Men are going to be appearing here and there in the immediate future (maybe even their own movie, if you can believe it...), but I sort of wish the mini-MM could hang around.

Maybe Doc Magnus could invent some new Metal Men from rare metals that are designed to stay mini-sized. They're just so darn cute!

As I listen to my dogs barking at passing motorists, I wonder... have there ever been Metal Men pets?

That page looked familiar, any chance it was an homage?

That was definitely what I got from that scene.

I don't like all the death in 52 either. Just as I got interested in the Black Marvels they're gone. Didn't DC kill off enough people rebooting the Universe three times already?

This sort of makes the Dark Phoenix Saga look like a misdemeanor.

Week 49 leads nicely into what we know is World War III next week. The JSA looks very good here, as does Will Magnus, and I like the way the remaining members of Infinity, Inc. act. I am a little disturbed that Chung Tzu does actually seem to have been a giant egg.

Still no sign of Booster, Rip, Skeets, Adam Strange, Starfire of Lady Styx. Can someone please call Cold Case Files?

I'm a little concerned that the new "Infinity Inc." may not fare so well during World War III.

Like I said before, please let someone new make it into the DCU after 52. Most likely it'll be Batwoman?

John Henry is suppose to be taking the remaining Infinity Inc members and building a new super team, post 52. I believe Peter Milligan is writing it.

This week was the weakest issue of the series. It wasn't bad, just no real development of any of the subplots. It was mostly set-up for next week's WWIII story. The JSA are looking to liberate Black Adam from Oolong Island. There's an unexpected reveal about Chang Tsu, but that's about it.

We do get to see Doc Magnus step up, and the Metal Men return in a small way.

A few loose ends for me- the Mr Mind subplot, how a Hell-bound Faust was able to mark Sue's tomb or follow Ralph, and when did Gordon come back to Gotham. I don't see them being resolved here, but I've been surprised before.

With so few issues left and World War III taking center stage, is there any way the Skeets storyline is going to wrap up satisfactorally in "52"?? (and honestly, I'd rather it be wrapped up badly than drag on in another series)

Wrote my review on www.diversionarium.com ... too tired to rewrite it here. But this issue was an awesome ride. I want to put that cover on a t-shirt!
