I'm thinking it'll be one of the students to die...probably Angel or Beak. Afterall, Cyclops seemed to imply all the students that were with him were "X-Men".

Polaris? _Very unlikely._ She's Austen's to screw up as he pleases. Though death by Morrison would be a welcome alternative.

I thought 151 was going to be an alternate universe type story?

That was my understanding too. Another Days of Future Past type story.

Alternate future - more Rock of Ages (speaking of which, there's speculation it'll have a similar ending...)

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Like I said, I want Polaris to join the Avengers. Well, I did, until I found out that Austen is going to be writing Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I already know how he will screw her character up. So hopefully, she'll stay in the X Universe until Austin leaves Avengers.

You'll have to give us spoilers when you can 'Binger. I'm not planning on buying the issue but kinda am curious as to who was supposed to 'die'.

Jean, though reality sort of whites out as she goes so who knows? It's such a poorly written scene Scott, Magneto is beaten and grabs her arm and zaps her and this is the being that just flew her and Logan back from the sun - she dies in Cykes arms.

Poor showing from Grant!

Thanks for the synopsis. That is really disappointing considering it was Morrison. But I guess he disappointed a lot of X-Fans with his current tenure on the title.

I think I'll just stick with the Ultimate version of the team and the movies.

Question for all the X-Afficionados. I haven't followed the title(s) in maaany years (since shortly after Storm, Nightcrawler & the others joined Scott on the "New" team ~ yes I told you it was a loong time ago!)

In any case, I ordered the Ultimate X-Men: New Mutants issue with Angel on the cover and was just blown away by the artwork. It's really stunning, but the story has me very confused. Angel is just being "recruited" but Wolverine, Storm and others appear to be oldtimers? What gives?

Have they rebooted the series and are now starting from scratch? Are they doing the same with all the other books? (god, I dread tthe thought of trying to get a count!) Is Ultimate X-Men: New Mutants in a different Marvel Universe?

If Ultimates is a stand alone series, I might consider picking it up again. If not...well I just might frame the drawings of shirtless Warren and leave it at that!

Marvel's Ultimate Universe is completely different from the normal Marvel Universe. Up to now there are Ultimate Spider Man (still a young kid in high school), Ultimate X-Men and the Ultimates (i.e. the Avengers). There was also an Ultimate Daredevil miniseries, and I think Ultimate Fantastic Four is coming soon. If you pick up the early issues of any of these series, you'll be able to start the stories of the characters from the very beginning (most of them are collected in trade paperbacks).

I hope this helps.

Juan

Like Juan said (thanks Juan!), the Ultimate series are set in a different, more 'modern' Marvel Universe. Spider-Man was the first and was good for awhile but I've since quit reading it.

The X-Men has had its ups and downs (what title doesn't) but I've stuck with it. I would recommend picking up the trades and then jumping in with the New Mutants arc if you decide to stay on.

Ultimates is for the strong of stomach. I like it but there have been a number of people who don't like these icons, especially Captain America, in this new light. They are currently ending their first arc and re-starting the series with a new number one. I would recommend buying the trades to the first and getting at least the first issue of the new series.

There was also an Ultimate Marvel Team-Up and the Ultimate Elektra/Daredevil mini. I would recommend forgetting these even existed. Waste of a tree IMO.

Don't know yet about the Ultimate FF. I didn't think I was going to read it but the preview for #1 looked good. I'm still up in the air with where they are starting with the characters (high school).

I, too, hope this helps.

Just thought of this. A real cheap way of finding out if you want to read the Ultimate titles is to go to Marvel's site, particularly here .

This is their dotcomics section. In their Free section you will find the first three issues of both Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Spider-Man. To read the first three issues of The Ultimates you have be a member but it is free.

[edit note]
Flash 6 is required to use the site.

Hey V. I just thought of another way you could 'see' the original Ultimate comics. A company called Intec has been releasing CrossGen comics on DVD. You get up to 6 issues and the comic is present as the original panels with added animation and sound effects. They are pretty neat.

Anyway, they recently started releasing Marvel comics starting the Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men and The Ultimates. I know that I'm getting The Ultimates one for Christmas and it has the first six issues.

If you have a DVD player I'd be more than happy to copy it for you and send it your way. Then if you are interested you could pick up the first volumes of X-Men and Spider-Man. The Ultimates only has one since they have barely reached their 12th issues but the others have multiple volumes to pick up.

And if you are interested in any of the CrossGen's titles, including Sojourn, my GameStop was selling them for less than $10.00 each.

Here's their site . You can check out 'trailers' for the DVD's there.

They're restarting THE ULTIMATES at issue 1?

Why? They only just now published issue 12.

Well they are going to do issue #13, take a break, and then start Volume 2 of the Ultimates. Plans are for another 12/13 issues then another volume. Guess they decided this way it doesn't matter if they don't come out monthly.

I read a couple of issues a few months back (the "Who Shot Emma Frost?" story arc), but hadn't been reading this title in a while. I just picked up 150 last week because the cover looked intriguing, and because I'm a sucker for "milestone" issues.

My first reaction: WTF? Is this all for real, or just some kind of dream/hoax/alternate reality? Just absolutely bizarre. I'm tempted to buy the next issue just so I can figure out what's really going on...
