I've been VERY impressed with most of the NEW 52 I have read so far.
Standouts so far: Animal Man, Static Shock, Detective Comics, Swamp Thing
Green Arrow was good enough to get me to come back.
Getting # 2 but not really having high hopes for: Justice League and Hawk & Dove.
And Men of War was a solid read but not really my thing.
Impressive, DC. Well-played. I'll finish the rest of DCnU WEEK ONE soon!

iZombie #17 - I spent the first half of this series complaining that it was taking too long for things to happen, and now everything's happening at once and its a bit of a hot mess. This book continues to perplex me, partly because it just keeps changing its gameplan and I can't get on board like I really, really want to.
The plot now revolves around a zombie invasion, the cause of which could be several or none of the characters we've seen so far. Gwen and her "Scooby Gang" run into the Dead Presidents (really amped up reflections of themselves) as well as the Gravediggers. As much as the two factions want to kill each other (and in the Gravediggers case, Gwen), they need to unite to fend off the zombies.
Meanwhile, Horatio has found out Gwen's undead and seems to choose his loyalty to the Gravediggers over her, but he's obviosuly conflicted.
Meanwhile, Scott's Grandpa (the Chimp) and his friends make their way to the coffee house where the owner seems to have some experience with (and hate for) zombies.
Meanwhile, Galatia lose the "Vessel" and is confronted by the Brain in a jar, Kovsky, who's got Claire captive and wants a body.
Meanwhile, Ellie finds the Vessel, who's awake and tries to help him out.
Meanwhile, the Vampire girls are up to... something.
Meanwhile, Gwen stumbles across Amon and suddenly remembers she knew him before she died and he's involved in her death.
Got all that?
I like idea that this coming "Convergence" event is mirrored in the plots themselves all amping up and seeming to tie together, but Roberson's gone form 0 to 120 here and puts a lot of balls in the air (writing this review has actually been really helpful in sorting it all out). I'm hoping for a big payoff, but this series has been spotty with those thus far. When it is good, though its generally very good.
One thing that's indisputable: Allred's art is gorgeous.

So: I didn't get Deathstroke or Ressurection Man this week, and I hope someone reviews those comics in case they're incredible and I f*cked up in not buying them. I somehow forgot to get Mr. Terrific (CBS forgot to put in my pull). I'll get around to picking it up. I did buy Batgirl and will review. What the hey, I got OMAC. Might as well at least try it. AND THEN RIP IT TO SHREDS. I really want Dave Hacket to give a full review on each and every title he read this week in the various threads they go in. This dude is in tune with good comics these days and we need to know what caused him to like or dislike a comic!

Hellblazer kicks off a new storyline this week with "The Devil's Trenchcoat". Everyone seems to be in deep, as Gemma has backed off trying to kill John, but still has a hate on for him, which is too bad, because she could really use his help when the demonic forces she bargained with to kill him last arc come looking for their payment.
Meanwhile, she's sold John's stolen trenchcoat and it ends up on eBay, making it's way to a loser who unwittingly outbids several other interested parties. The problem is the coat, having been through all the garbage John has over the years, is actually awash with bad juju. Without John around, its "stench" starts infecting the people it comes in contact with, while slowly turning its new owner into a Constantine clone. As things get rotten around London, the coat eventually kills its owner moving on to a new host.
Meanwhile, John and Epiphany are experiencing their own problems as the magic also backwashes on John, having lost a totem in the coat. They wake up in the Thames in the middle of the night, the walls start bleeding, and John's having wicked nightmares. Add to that, Epiphany's dad calls in his favour from John and wants him to help his organisation fend off an mafia incursion.
Milligan's doing a great job keeping all the various suplots cooking and I'm really liking the John & Epiphany marriage. She doesn't take any crap from him and he's forced to be more open than makes him comfortable. I expect the worst when things come to a head and she's forced to choose between John and her family, but what's Constantine if not a magnet for the worst.
The Gemma stuff is also handled well. I'm glad they didn't play it stupid and have her not realise it wasn't John who raped her, but to still have her other issues of resentment linger. She's way over her head, but her stubborn nature is keeping her there. I expect by the time she does turn to John things will be nice and messy.
Hopefully Milligan stays on this run for a long, long time.

You didn't miss much. If they'd been incredible there would be glowing reviews around by now. These aren't reviews but here's my feedback on those two books: I didn't expect to like Deathstroke since it's never been my cup of tea, and I didn't like it. Big tough badass guy, teamed in this issue with over-eager sociopathic kids, resenting it, gratuitous deaths. Resurrection Man - I had higher hopes for this. I wasn't familiar with the character before - interesting premise, but it seems to be a gritty Dial H for Hero. If it was more metaphysical and less action, I might have enjoyed it. May read well as a trade, but it looks like the protagonist is just going to be going WTF? with every change.
Holy Cats of Egypt!

Tiny Titans #44 was fun, as usual. The Titans are having trouble crossing the street as the Crossing PATROL Guard of DOOM are pretty intimidating, especially to Beast Boy, who harbors a Dark Secret.... he used to be one of them!
The Flashback to Baby Beast Boy's "captivity" at their hands is hilarious and cute. My kids are going to flip when we read it together tonight.
