And of course Hawkeye was running around as Giant-Man (or was it Goliath?) for a time (but he didn't steal it).

I bet nobody's stealing his "pocketman" red jumpsuit anytime soon...

Is anyone still reading "Avengers Dissembled"?

Bendis' story is still interesting enough for me to want to see where this all goes, and of course the art is amazing, but the characters seem to be responding a little too dramatically to what's happening, imo. You'd think they were never attacked before, the way they act. Maybe this emotional instability is part of the attack (I already mentioned the Wasp's overreaction before), otherwise Bendis is just screwing up characterization, imo. Pym seems close to another breakdown, if not suicide and Tony storming off is (I hope) a side effect of his still feeling drunk.

By the way, With Captain Britain laid up in the hospital (it seemed pretty silly to me her sword is just sitting by the nightstand in the hospital room), does that mean a neighborhood in England is now in flames? Her origin made no sense to me but they should at least stick to the ridiculous premise if they allowed it to happen.

That would require Marvel to actually give two bits about continuity from month to month.

Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

I read #500 and #501. 500 was so overrated and over hyped. The only thing I liked in there was She-Hulk flipping out, and becoming a version of the original Hulk. HULK SMASH. I love that! Otherwise everything was just too melodramatic. Did not do anything for me. 501 was more of the same. I dropped it. It was disappointing. I have no idea who the villian is either. I'm no Hardy boy that is for sure...

#501 was well-written I thought, but very little seemed to happen. Lots of talking, which is usually enjoyable when Bendis writes it (for me at least), but I'm waiting for these promises to happen.

Good scene: Cap standing by Tony.

Eh? scene: Hank totally not. I hate the way Hank is being written--a whinner on the verge of another break-down. Didn't Busiek move him past all this crap?

Art: very nice.

Next issue: GROAN. Hank or Hawkeye is going to die. Not what I want to see.

Grade I'll give right now: B

People are definately talking about the Avengers again, but the question that Marvel must ask is, will it still be the Avengers when this storyline is through? I'm a bit unsure...

I suppose every title goes through phases where "everything gets destroyed" before someone puts all the pieces back together in a form more closely resembling its classic version. It happened before Busiek took over and I guess it'll happen again once all of Bendis' changes lose steam.

I have gone through on/off phases with the Avengers. Strangely, team books like Avengers and JLA have always seemed tangential - like you could miss a couple years with no worries. When I like the creative team, I stay; when I don't, I stop.
Dropped the book when Geoff Johns left, and I AM GLAD I DID.
Avengers by focus group? I'll pass on Bendis's version.

DrakeChase: The attack isn't only a physical one. Recent issues of Cap and Iron Man show that a mental/emotional assault is going on at the same time (destabilizing or keeping the heroes off-balance). Based solely on the Cap/Iron Man issues plus the way everyone else is acting, I'd say that all of the Avengers are under mental assaults as well. Modok is shown in the Cap issues, so thats likely where at least part of the mental 'gas-lighting' is coming from.

I haven't read any of the Disassembled arc yet, waiting for the whole thing to read at once (since it will probably be my last Avengers read). But The Pulse did publish some pages from #503 today and something struck me as unusual.

Hopefully that's enough space. Um, I think that the figure next to Hank in the second panel is supposed to be Hellcat but is there a reason she isn't wearing any clothes other than her mask?

Dr. Strange looks a little constipated. Wong needs to get a little fiber in his diet.

And I only recognize Cap, Iron Man & Hellcat (since you pointed her out) WHo the heck are the others? Guess I've been away from Marvel's Avengers a loooooong time.

The one next to Hellcat with the yellow X on him is the Beast. He looks feline now due to some dumb Grant Morrison stunt. And Carol Danvers is in the first panel, in her old Ms. Marvel costume so I guess that's what she is these days.

just read avengers disassembled. was ok i guess. i confess i mainly got it because i dont like many of teh avengers and wanted to see them "disassembled". during the story i found myself rooting for the scarlet witch. she deserved soem revenge after her character has been so "psylocked-ized" over the years.

but all in all it mayve been "the worst day in avengers history" it still didnt seem that bad to disband. i mena why do they have all those reserve members anyways if they cant afford to lose a few. and teh mansions been totaled before and they didnt have governmnet funding off and on through out the years. (downsize!)

oh well, house of m makes a lot more sense now though.

i also thought the wasps flakiness and whining was out of character since she was such a tough leader through things like the masters of evil occupation of the mansion.

When she and Yellowjacket got divorced, Disaster Boy, i really think all the flaky irresponsibility was sucked out of Jan...all it took was for Hank to slap her - something he never did - of course, he was under a bit of stress at the time. But it woke her up and she matured somewhat. Perhaps not in the way she expected, tho
