Inciddentally, for Atom Girl to ride a fiber optic cable implies that she can shrink small enough to ride a beam of light.
Actually, that has all kinds of cool implications. Transmatter gates down, Shuttle broke, no problem. Just point a flashlight and send Salu on her way.
She better be wearing her tansuit though. Otherwise the whole infinite mass thing can be a bummer.

to prevent the conversation from grinding to a halt, lets say that there's an "old" section of the city that still uses archaic tech.

I like the "ancient quarter" idea of the city. In defense of land lines, there may be very compelling reasons to ue them like better transmission fidelity, more bandwidth, etc. Maybe that part of Lallor has a lot of EM radiation interference? Another good reason to have a land line.

haven't gotten this issue yet... but had to chime in before we lose him. what's next on your plate, dennis? more work at DC? also, can you say a bit more about the subtitution of last issue's cover? it makes zero sense to me. the replacement cover was very badly done, and your's was beautiful. what was the thinking behind that?

Hye Gorilla, thank you! Unfortunately, I'm just not a liberty to discuss it. A decision was made, and as DC paid me for the job, I feel ethically that I must stand by those decisions. Some people felt the way you did, some people didn't mind, so it was probably a wash.
As for the next thing, Im working on an Xmen project, something very very special thats unlike anything youve ever seen. Hows that for something to live up to?

It was very nice to see some humanity introduced into the legionnaires this issue. Not only Brainy, but Ms. Digbby and Wildfire too. Given this boot so far, I really appreciate it.

Attack Erg-1 as if nothing has happened. And how did he get knocked out? ERG-1 kicked T-Wolf. Since when did ERG-1 have super strength? (Side note. When Shady is attacking ERG-1, there is an unconscious, human-looking figure. Is that supposed to be Brin, because it does not look like the new feral T-Wolf. Frankly, what continues to frustrate me with this series is that we have seen more characterization of the non-Legionnaires like ERG-1 (or Mekt previously) than for any of the regular Legionnaires. And with the way this book has been since the beginning, I fear that we will barely get any story that deals with the implications of T-Wolf's transformation (e.g., Jeckie's reaction, whether this was the reason T-Wolf felt obligated to Brainy, etc.) I really hope that's not the case.

The "human touch" was indeed nice, but that's unfortunately the only thing that appealed to me in this issue. It's nearly the end of Bedard's run, and I still don't even know what it's all about. A shame.

I think the run as done some rather significant things so far.
1) we saw Winath, and Mekt and company have been removed from the LSH.
2) 2 new, old characters were reintroduced. a new planet will be joining the UP.
3) a new character, and time travel tech has been introduced.
(4) following on the above, there is now a way for Supergirl to return to her time
5) Brin has become more feral
as far as fill-in runs go, I think this one has managed to put a lot of development in place. not to mention the overall arc is that Dream Girl's essence(?) told Brainy which teams to send where. which indicates that her powers are still functioning and Brainy has absolute faith in her ability. which considering how frustrated and disdainful he was towards her in the beginning is a rather big character shift.
on the other hand, most of my knowledge of LSH is this incarnation so it's all fresh to me.

" Attack Erg-1 as if nothing has happened."
They're in the middle of a battle. Maybe some ackowledgement of what happened may have been appropriate, but surely not a soliloquy.
And the other characters DID indeed acknowledge the transformation. My interpretation, and I haven't talked to Tony about this, is that T-Wold may not totally be aware at the time what's happened. Why would he? He's in the middle of a battle and they're are no mirrors.
"And how did he get knocked out? ERG-1 kicked T-Wolf. Since when did ERG-1 have super strength?"
Well, since now. Erg-1 has been reintroduced as a figure of stunning power.
"I fear that we will barely get any story that deals with the implications of T-Wolf's transformation"
There have already been critisms based on what people assume will or won't happen, and that's just wrong. (As wrong as the guy who criticized my art on the basis of "what if you had to draw something in daylight? Well, wait till I do and then we'll talk.) Something else else happened, it does bear explanation, but its not necc for us to explain it. Jim is going to have a nice long run. And I don't think it was an event that needed to be delved into deeply right now.

haven't read the issue yet, so can't really comment, but couldn't Brin going feral just be something that he does, and that the other Legionnaires are aware of it and don't feel the need to question it?

Well the implication is that Brainy/Nura knew.
Given that Garth and Ayla knew Brin back in the one-digit issues early in this boot, it seems reasonable to think they might know. Projectra's been shown in bed with him, so you might think she'd be in the know.
But given that Atom Girl was rumored to be a hazing joke for over a year into this title, it's hard to pin down who might have known what about whom at any given time.
Vi did not know.

Though I appreciate some of the character alignment and some nice scenes for Salu and Wildf--er- E.R.G., I'm left very disappointed that once again in this boot a story set on Lallor did *not* feature the Heroes of Lallor. I know, I know, Evolvo Lad appeared, but on a different *planet*! Why even use this world as a story's setting? I'll be optimistic and hope that this means the creators are leading up to the HOL's debut. Third time's the charm?
Gas Girl and Life Lass- c'mon... I know I'm not alone in wanting to see these two updated.
It's unclear, at least to me, if Drake is Lallorian. I always wanted a Lallorian Legionnaire, but this isn't quite the way I wanted to see it happen. I wonder if Randall and Drake have a third sibling named Squire.

G probably true. after all, each time we have seen Lallor it has been a world in turmoil. first the youth vs. authority battle, and now civil war regarding joining the UP. from a story standpoint, it seems to really lay the basis for people to be inspired to form a group to help their world.

I read this really quick last night. Dennis the art is getting better and better. Loved the feel/look of the book.
The story was good and fun. Some of my favorite members involved! Vi, T-Wolf, Wildfire, B5 and Shadow Lass!
My complaints? A caveman taking down Supergirl? Ouch. And I'm not loving feral T-Wolf but I understand why they are going that route. I agree with covers that have nothing to do with the inside but as Dennis said...that's the state of things currently.

I very much enjoyed the art and story on this issue. I liked Brainy acknowledging Atom Girl's friendship. I really liked Atom Girl's dialogue and action. Her comments about dating Wildfire were great! The art was cool and a lot of fun.

I have to say that I am enjoying the Legion more now than in the past 3 years. Mr Bedard and Mr. Calero have made Huge strides in making the Legion title more interesting to read. I like the way the stories are more contained to concentrating on a handful of Legionnaires and a finality to the episodes in only a couple of issues. I think the art is interesting and great. I am disappointed Dennis will be moving to the Marvel Legion title rather than more Real Legion projects for the 50 yr anniversary.
I am one of the people who like original artwork on the covers rather than a repeat page of the inside story. The covers have been artistic and eye-catching. Looking forward to #36.

Nah. I'm not particularly clamoring for them, but I would not be sorry to see them. Of the Heroes of Lallor, these two were the least developed. We saw Duplicate Boy in the Yera storyline during the Levitz era. Beast Boy had a story and death scene during the Silver Age. And Evolvo was in the reboot Work Force and now here.

The thing about the land-lines that made me giggle was why would Randall answer the phone in the first place. He's there to assassinate the President, things go wrong, time to escape, but first the phone ringing, better answer it. Love those wacky villians!!
From the drawing LSH to drawing the X-men, huh, somehow that has a familiar ring.
So what.

I would think they would be avoiding Life Lass because post-boot we had Kinetix instead. I myself would rather see Gas Girl or Life Lass than Evolvo Lad (not that it wasn't cool to see him again, a nice nod to the past), but we had a lot of him post-boot as one of McCauley's flunkies in WorkForce.

I'm starting to think it's a rule or something. *Thank Jeebus it doesn't work the other way 'round, can you imagine Rob Leifield drawing the Legion?* Thanks for the input Dennis. We can chew and spit plot points and characterization all week but reading creators comments tends to spin things quite a bit differently. I love that. You're welcome at LW anytime. I'd like to see a new Beast Boy. He's the most interesting to me. Gas Girl's and Evolvo Lad's powers are too limited. Duplicate Boy's are too unlimited. Life Lass was kind of ruined by Kinetix, whose powers changed about every 5 minutes. Beast Boy's power levels and versatility are just right, Goldilocks.

I don't see Gas Girl's power as too limited. Phantom Girl, Elastic Lad, Element Lad (in part), Invisible Kid, and Shadow Lass are all characters whose powers she can simulate.
Besides, she possesses that 'alien ex machina' quality that Chameleon, Ornitho, Infectious Lass and Element Lad share-- come up with a cool, alien gas (shape, Kryptonion bird, disease, element-- for the characters I'm comparing her to) that has properties tailor-made for whatever situation the hero's in, and voila! Instant solution.
I admit I'm always a touch disappointed in Evolvo Lad's appearances. Using the comparison I made with Gas Girl, he's half Timber Wolf, half Brainiac 5-- though a little out of control in each part.
I always thought more could be made of his connection to evolution-- he could represent the state of Lallor as the aggregate population changes. His 'future' man wouldn't always be the same type, if written this way.
Life Lass would best be served by keeping to the animation of the inanimate, bestowing crude personalities under her 'spell'. The danger-- too cartoony?
They *could* go the PUSHING UP DAISIES route with a new version of the character, though. Or she could become the Kid Eternity of the future.
I agree about Duplicate Boy. I guess that's why he was saddled with the less than genius intelligence level. Still, I'd like to see him.
Beast Boy-- I always wondered about the fact that his costume is virtually identical to the one worn by Gar Logan in the Doom Patrol and Teen Titans, except for the mask- which didn't last long anyway. Just what is the connection there?
I think the Heroes of Lallor have tons of potential that's never been tapped.
