Just a little blurb from today's Comics Continuum:

Brian K. Vaughan is writing the second arc of Dark Horse Comics' Buffy the Vampire series
Definitely can't wait to sink my teeth into this series.

(Sorry, couldn't pass up the bad pun)

Y'know, my sister-in-law was a Buffy fan. I doubt she has ever read a comic in her life, but when I told her about this, she got excited and is considering picking it up.

Looks that way from Dark Horse's site. Oh well. I wouldn't get my copy until 3/19 anyway so now it won't be so long after the book hits the shops.

great cover, excellent interior art and the story was excellent. good issue, with lots of catching up and plot points dropped here and there. Dawn is in BIG trouble. you will know what I mean when you read it.

I heard about it in interviews already, but it's nice to see the whole "Buffy dating the Immortal" put to rest.

It was fun imagining the actors providing voices for the comic characters -- and big props for having them resemble the actors, but not looking like he just copied photos in certain key frames. Xander's Nick Fury joke was cute. I like him in this position, though I can't imagine all this happening in the actual show without missing something - Buffy always struggled with trying to be a normal girl but it loooks like there's almost nothing normal left in her life - I hope that's addressed at some point.

BS8 # 1 was surprisingly good! Best BUFFY comic I've ever read.

It flowed just like an episode of the TV show and the charactes LOOKED LIKE the characters.

Looking forward to this series more than evr now!

I agree Lash! Reading the comic felt very much like watching the show, so the only thing I don't like is having to wait a month between episodes!

While it did capture the feel of the show, it wasn't paced for a comic book. The entirety of the issue was the sort of information that would have fit into the five minute 'teaser' before the credits. At this rate, 22 issues of 'season eight' Buffy are going to be equal to about three episodes!

As usual, Joss has one rule about magic. 'Nothing in canon will interfere with my plot.' Amy, who can teleport, turn herself into animals, and fly, apparently decided not to bother doing any of those things.

Can't wait to see some Giles and Willow and Faith...

OK, got #2 today and enjoyed it even if some of it was a little confusing and I had to reread to understand, but the one thing I didn't get is who is the boy talking to the Slayerettes about Star Wars? Is that supposed to be Andrew? Because while #1 explained why Buffy *isn't* in Italy as shown in Angel we know Andrew was there since we saw him and while all the other characters in the comic look quite like their TV counterparts that boy doesn't look like anyone that I recognise. It'd make sense if it is Andrew in terms of him being a geek, but still...

It was Andrew, I am sure. Also, we don't know how long Andrew stayed in Italy - there is no reason he could not have taken a flight to Scotland soon after he encountered Angel.

True enough. Odd that of all the existing characters he's the one who looks least like the person who played them on TV (although I probably wouldn't have guessed it as Amy if they hadn't said so).

# 2 kept things going well!

I am positive that was Andrew but I agree he looked least like the actor of anyone shown so far.

LOVED that cliffhanger ending!

In fact, loving it all EXCEPT...
I'm a bit bored by the giant Dawn subplot. I don't know if this would have translated well for TV.

I think Joss could have made her more interesting by having her end up a human key, meaning she would have the ability to open any lock.

Good book overall.

Oh yeah -- so what's the deal with Buffy's dream? Though it was a dream, there's serious hinting here that Buffy and Xander got together?!?! (at least once)

And who's that at the end offering her his hand? Angel? ... or Spike? Or someone else?

I am continuing to enjoy this book. I wasn't a big fan of dawn on the show, but so far, she isn't that annoying. The art is rather good(andrew didn't like the actor on the show) and the covers are excellent.

I hope the sales stay high. it's nice to non-big Two stuff performing well.

Looks too skinny to be Angel to me if the artist's doing it right. Though, if it's A or S, A every time.

I like reading the captions and word balloons in the voices of the actors in my head. I'm not getting any cooler, am I?

I like it so far, but I do have to agree that at the rate we're going, it's going to be 60 issues before we complete the season. Which is okay with me. I'm just hoping that this is the beginning of massive buzz which will require the reassembly of everyone involved in a series of feature films--before everyone gets too old.

The Xander/Buffy subtext has been there since season one--but I interpret the dream as just another Buffyverse dream red herring. It did, however, get me to think "HUH?" until I turned the page.

LOVED the Nick Fury discussion.
