The solicitations for the end of "Winter Soldier" hint at something pretty ugly happening at the end, and I fear I may know what it is.

It would not surprise me if Cap ends up killing Bucky during their big confrontation.

I'm glad to see -that- didn't happen. Anyhoo-- I was expecting a letdown after the Winter Soldier arc. And, upon first inspection, CA #15 didn't look too promising: No Epting, no Cap to speak of (except for the cover, a poster and a small flashback) and story elements from the 90's. So why did I like this issue so much?! We finally see what Crossbones' plans were for the Skull's daughter, and Brubaker has managed to take characters and stories I cared nothing about and create a taut, compelling story here. And Mike Perkins reminded me of what a great job he did inking Epting on RUSE, staying true to Steve's look for the book while turning in a stellar job in its own right. Perkins (and Syn & Crossbones) are back for 16 and 17, as well-- and I can't WAIT! ( CBR has a six page preview for CAPTAIN AMERICA 16 up.)

I read it. Kinda sexy evil story there. While Eptig was gone I also thought the art was pretty darn good! I am sick of the Winter Soldier stuff. While it's been great I still don't care for them bringing Bucky back or killing Nomad off. I just read the last 7 issues that I borrowed from a buddy. Awesome work by the creators!

Latest Crossbones/Sin story was awesome. A very scary look into the mind-screwing that terrorists do and how Stockholm syndrome might take hold.
And Crossbones is my favorite of all of Cap's 'later villains' and makes a good nemesis for him in terms of great fighter/anti-Cap's beliefs.
This is still possibly Marvel's best book, beating out even Young Avengers & Daredevil.

Definitely beats DD, and comes out regularly enough to top YA in my book... Brubaker has just done such a great job of respecting all of Cap's history without being mired down by it. And even when Epting needs a breather, the guest artists have been stellar-- Lark and now Perkins.

Cobalt, I agree that Crossbones is a really good villain. I am glad they didn't decide to kill him off cause he wasn't old school.
One of Gru's best late creations IMO. I like him better than most Cap villains personally.

There's still plenty of time. Mind you, I'd like to see Mr. Barnes restored to the MU full time, but I have my doubts.

Still possibly the single best thing coming from Marvel!
The Cap in London storyline was great and really brought together all the various elements. I hope the next time Cap and the Winter Soldier meet will now give us the much awaited discussion b/t the two of them.
I see now Bru has to address the happenings in Civil War. So far so good, and I hope he'll be able to keep up the quality of excellence of this title. He did so in his one-off House of M crossover, which was BY FAR the best thing to come out of that mess, so I have faith. The post-War status quo will be different though and I hope doesn't alter his plans too much.

Maybe it was Proty, that brave little pile of goo...

Captain America dead and Bucky alive? Crazy!
Anyway, does anyone seriously not think that he'll be back in time for his movie in a couple of years?

This is just another reason why I have dropped ALL of Marvels books. The only good thing I read in that entire article was that Joe Simon was still living and kicking.

I think Marvel is trying too hard to mirror reality. They are selling out big time using events. The thing is they have talented people but they seem to take the easy way out. When people criticize Civil War their response? It was great it sold a ton.
I don't mind Steve dying...would prefer to see him retire or something. I knew they would do it one day but I was hoping they'd do it better.

Seems to me the death will prove to be staged, leaving Steve in that Ronin suit and letting the anger over his actions fade. Bucky takes over as Cap 'til the big return. Just my opinion.

I think LWL is pretty close. Steve Rogers is still in the book, the whole thing was a set up to get him out of the way for the new government run Initiative army. He wont use the uniform or code name and will remain dead as far as MOST of the Marvel universe is concerned for the foreseeable future.

Well I got this and had a read (I'm sure the local stores will sell out today, I don't think Cap is a big seller up here). Whoever decided to use a release day surprise media blitz is looking golden.
A nicely executed comic. He sure looks dead to me, but something's up.

I don't want him to diiiiie!! *wails* I mean, of course I'm full of skepticism but it certainly doesn't sound good. And if the Punisher becomes the new Captain America... someone at Marvel is going to die. Seriously. That would be so stupid. God. Just... @%$#ing &#^( @*$! %&!#

I'm not surprised they killed off Cap, now. Considering that the man who was respected for his principles even by those who hated America, is now being shown by Marvel themselves as a joke since he doesn't worship Paris Hilton.
In the CNN version of the story, was this sentence...
"He hasn't been living in the modern world and the world does move," says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada.
And that's Captain America's death sentence. Maybe they say that somehow Steve Rogers survives this, maybe they give the name and suit to someone else. It doesn't matter. Marvel has turned their collective backs on what Captain America stands for... whatever they do now, it won't be the same.
And we're all worse off for the death of idealism. We're worse off for being told that believing in principles is less important than idolizing pre-packaged pop culture.
