In addition to that, DC announced their thus far awful sounding Flashpoint "event" which features at least 14 individual miniseries. Whaaaa--?! That sounds beyond dumb. Hard pass on the majority of them on the sheer fact that there are 14 tie-in miniseries.

14 books in Flashpoint, and *one* of them is about a Flash? ('Kid Flash Lost')
So, uh, are Barry, Wally, Bart, Jay or Jenni going to be involved at all in the big 'Flash' event? 'Cause I sure didn't see anything about XS or the JSA...
Not that I'm the target audience. I'd *much* rather read a Max Mercury mini-series than one about a character who died 25 years ago in Crisis, and whom I miss less than Kole.
OTOH, I might take a look at Citizen Cold. I would love to see an Earth-3 (Crime Syndicate, evil JLA universe) version of the Flash's Rogue's Gallery, underground vigilante freedom fighters, allied against the vicious evil Flash of their world... Captain Cold has recently been portrayed as 'less nasty' than most villains, with a sort of code. He'd be the one most likely to be a viable hero (or, at least, anti-hero / vigilante sort).

Those 14 are only the tie-in mini-series, not the main event itself, I'd assume!

This sounds like major douchebaggery on the part of DC... I realize that after Blackest Night, they want to make a practice of having multiple mini-series "further" the main story, but really... 14 mini-series not counting the main series and some "mystery" series? It's like a parody or something you'd read in "The Onion"...
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

Marvel's May 2011 solicitations: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=30834 ASTONISHING CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 (of 5) Written by ANDY DIGGLE Art & Cover by ADI GRANOV When a top-secret orbital research station is dragged from the sky by an unknown alien force, army-of-one Steve Rogers finds himself caught between two global superpowers on the brink of war! But how does it involve Volkov, a Russian officer he last crossed paths with during the closing days of World War II, and who disappeared on an ill-fated lunar mission over forty years ago? The red-hot creative team of Andy Diggle (DAREDEVIL, SHADOWLAND) and Adi Granov (IRON MAN: EXTREMIS) send super-soldier Captain America on a one-man mission into the heart of darkness! 32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99 His Thunderbolts run got off to a glorious start, then crashed and burned. His Daredevil run, what little I read before dropping it, was insipid. I didn't even bother with Shadowland. But, dammit, deep down I still believe in Andy Diggle!! His work on The Losers and Adam Strange made me a Diggle fangirl for life!! This appears to have sci-fi elements, which would be a step in the right direction. Granov's a decent artist. I'll give it a go.

Mark Waid on Daredevil? I'm definitely intrigued! Art by my favorite Marcos Martin? He'll yes! I'm actually excited about the DD relaunch now after this last era being such a dissapointment.
And Moon Knight and Alpha Flight actually look pretty groovy too.

Oh look, Hercules is back. I'm not digging his new look, but I never really dug his old look, so I guess he can't win with me.

Matt Wagner returns to Zorro in July! Great news!
I've been raving about how good his Zorro series by Dynamite was (it was utterly fantastic) and I'm thrilled he's going to do another 12 issues.

Dynamite picked up the licensing for the Shadow! Cool! I'm almost definitely getting that.
PS - should this thread be deheadlined? Posts have been inconsistent since the early Spring. Either way works for me, I'm just curious.

Marvel December (and possibly November?) really push Valkyrie into the forefront. The FEAR ITSELF event has been iffy, at best-- but some of the stuff spinning out of it could be good. It looks like Val's going to run a gauntlet, of sorts, facing various Marvel characters. Including a meeting I've wanted to see for decades now. Dani Moonstar, shown riding Brightwind is one of the characters Val's going to face. I can't wait!
What caught your eye in December's solicits?
