Lemme guess, J'onn gets fried, but a part of him survives which will end up growing into a new Martian Manhunter, but he'll have no memory of his past life...

Who do you guys think precipitated the cliffhanger. I don't think it was superman. MM's face seemed to show surprise in seeing him, so it wasn't a stranger. The guy has a red cape though. Me not know! Not Jamie

Guesses on who was there at the end? I'm sticking with Superman of Earth-2 (the original Superman).
Best JLA story in YEARS.

I also think it's a version of Superman just not the one we've known. The ID monitor on the teleporter said it was Supes.
Something else else is happening, the multiverse is out there as has been hinted at so much in the past 2 years.

I loved that Red Tornado's appearance turned the tide.
Great tale; make this the regular team please!

I read # 120.
Missing Johns, that Young Avengers writer and Batista already, but this was an okay enough set-up with enough to bring you back next issue.
I like how each era of the League was represented in the gathering.
Who will Ollie and Dinah recruit? I think we're going to be seeing a lesser-powered JLA again. I'm okay with that.

Best JLA story in YEARS. *ahem* Who was this dashing young man that guessed corretly? Countless threads over the summer apparently show this time and time again.

Actually, didn't the destruction happen before Superman of Earth-2 and the gang crashed through? I'm thinking it was Bizarro (a clone of Superman, thus IDed as Superman).

#120-- liked Aquaman taking center stage. He is a king, after all... though that 'getting religion' bit was a little odd.
I'm actually looking forward to the recruiting drive. I hope some old favorites are featured-- as well as some characters who've never appeared in a Justice League story at all.
Hmmm- I just noticed that the Leaguers forming the nucleus of the attempted new League are Aquaman, Green Arrow and Black Canary. As opposed to Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
The Blond(e) League! As opposed to those all-but-clones with jet-black hair, blue eyes and pale skin.

"Justice League Blonde"? Interesting. I guess Barry Allen must be returning to the DCU! They could also recruit Booster Gold, Power Girl and Alan Scott to round out their "Big 7"!
Btw, does anyone have any notion who the psychic Arkham escapee could be? (and his companion for that matter -- Prometheus?)

I think the psychic is The Key and his companion is one of the Luthors.

The "Next Issue" blurb mentioned the Key ... careless editors, unless it's a red herring ... that silhouette at the end looked familiar, but I couldn't place it (could be Prometheus).
I didn't read Justice League Elite, so I don't know what happened between Dawn and Manitou Raven; but I noticed none of the other Elite members were present at the ceremony.
I'm not really interested in Ollie or Dinah right now. I'm OK with Aquaman coming back, but it's not a big deal to me. The character I'd be most excited to have back on the team right now would be Red Tornado. He hasn't been around much since Young Justice shut down.
On the subject of membership, the latest issue of Hawkman showed Carter returning to active JSA membership, so he's probably off the list of prospects for the next JLA.
How about an "elemental" core group? Keep Aquaman, return Red Tornado and Fire to active duty, and for new blood, bring in Geo-Force? I don't think anyone's using him right now.
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

I got back from my local comic shop a while ago, and just finished reading #120.
I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!
Bob Harras has not let me down at all. His Avengers run is my all-time favorite (correction: his Avengers run UP TIL #379 is my all-time favorite, he should have left after that) and if it wasn't the DCU instead of the MU, I could almost convince myself it's 1992 all over again (not that I miss 1992, it was a horrible time, but Avengers, L.E.G.I.O.N., Hulk, Flash, and Excalibur all helped me escape for a while.)
Ollie is my favorite male DCU character - if I were a guy, I'd be just like Ollie - and Harras writes him PERFECTLY.
The art...ehhh. Too bad Batista and Farmer didn't stick around. This guy Tom Derenick (who?) is tolerable most of the time, although some of the closeups are awful. Dan Green's inking helps a lot. But GAAAAWD, I wish Steve Epting would leave Marvel so that him and Harras could reunite on JLA.
Either way, I'm sticking with this book.

There seemed to be some serious foreshadowing here. Ollie's comment about Bats getting himself in trouble soon was way too blatant. As for the shadowy psychic, I'm guessing the Joker based on the dummy the psychologists were discussing.
Just spouting off.

If you want to unlock the mystery of the villain's identity, just re-read his monologues. And I just gave you an extra clue in my previous sentence.

I got the clues in the monolouge, and the next issue blurb mentioned the Key. I just thought it was a bit too obvious. Plus I can't see how The Key could be considered weak compared to J'onn. Guess I am wrong on that one

Should we start a new thread for WORLD WITHOUT A JUSTICE LEAGUE?
#121's out-- I didn't care for the art much, especially Derenick's BLACK CANARY. Ugh.
I really can't stand the trend of turning Dick Grayson into an only-slightly-less hostile version of Batman. That scene didn't ring true for me. Come to think of it, the Green Arrow/Black Canary conversation doesn't really fit into the way the relationship is presented in BIRDS OF PREY. I don't read GA currently, maybe there's a better fit there.
Liked seeing Aquaman continue in a prominent role-- at first I loved that page that showed him creating computer displays of many heroes/teams. It's a bit out of character for him, though, isn't it? Then again, maybe he's just stretching to fill the role he thinks he has to fill.
I hope this 'blond League' isn't shown to be ineffective without the 'big three'. And a recruitment drive really oughtta make more than two stops.

I actually liked the art better this issue. I REALLY like the cover artist. I think he's the one doing the past 2 months' worth of OUTSIDERS covers too, both of which rocked.
I guess they can't re-form the team too quickly or it won't be a "world without a Justice League".
Horn-dog Ollie gets on my nerves.
And Dinah has no current role in GREEN ARROW whatsoever (thank all that's sacred). I'd rather those 2 be apart. He's a jerk. I may be a fan, but he's still a jerk.
I'll re-name the thread title.

Oh, I think the cover art is fine- it's the interior that didn't do it for me.
Good point about not reforming too quickly- but they could still make more than two recruitment pitches in an issue.
If the heroes are as jittery as the DCU 'normal' folk apparently are, they'd be hearing as many 'no's' as a door-to-door used vacuum cleaner salesman.

Me neither, but it was still miles ahead of anything Devin Grayson's done with the character. DC really doesn't want Dick in the League long-term, do they?
