Another good issue.
FOR THE RECORD (and Jorg-Em): This is the kewl Star Sapphire from the old Secret Society of Super-Villains series, NOT the crappy-ass Carol Ferris version, wich I point out in my first post.
Catwoman got in some good panel-time.
I am worried, worried worried that Zatanna is being set up for something horrible in INFINITE CRISIS... "....It's not the League's fault. It's mine. I am so, so sorry."
And that last page... Brrrrr. Yep, this is good stuff.

MLLASH, Hmm I have no idea who she is. The only version I know is the Ferris one and for that matter I don't know much about her. Infact I don't much about these villains. But the fact that she isn't Hal Jordan's ex-girlfriend makes me like her already. I loved the Batman punch. I like Bats but like Wolverine I stopped liking him at about age 17. Too much exposure. I really love Hawkman...man I would've LOVED to see that fight. But I'm Bruce's side on this one. Zatanna? The whole huge arc has nothing but BAD karma for her. My guess? Spectre needs a host again...hmmm?

I hate turning each page of this current JLA book, because that means it's one page closer to being over!! Geoff and Allan are writing up a storm, and I have really missed seeing Bautista's work on a regular basis (not that that "Kitson" guy don't have "the stuff"...).
I have actually reread the 3 part JLA story arc when the SSOSV and the JLA members switched bodies about 4 times since Identity Crisis came out. Man, is it great to have the SSOSV back!!

Until now, I never followed JLA. The only issue in my collection had been Volume One #200, with all the guest artists including Brian Bolland.
I'm enjoying this story a lot. Johns and Heinberg have finally converted me (BTW, Heinberg didn't create "The O.C.," Josh Schwartz did; Heinberg is sort of Schwartz's second-in-command.) I've never seen Chris Batista's art before (I only started reading comics again a few months ago, after being away for over seven years) but I like it.
And I've heard that Bob Harras is going to be taking over the writing after this story arc is over. I hope I'm not branded a heretic for mentioning this book in a JLA thread, but Harras is one of my favorite Avengers writers (although I think he should have left the book about 15 issues earlier than he did,) and I've often wondered over the years what he would do with the JLA.

Wasn't the SSOSV Star Sapphire French or something? I remember finding her exotic. But I was, like, 9 years old, so who knows?
This latest issue totally rawks. I'm pretty jaded about super-team slug fests, but the battle between the JLA and the villains was totally awesome. Old-school action with a modern sensibility.
JLA has been on life-support too long. The Austen/Garney story was a good idea, but didn't need 6 months to tell. Likewise, the Crime Syndicate/Qward story should have been a 3-parter at most.
I'm delighted that Identity Crisis has sparked the return of a great Justice League comic.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

i've just been checking out the upcoming "JLA" issues after this current storyline and it seems that the team is gonna disband AGAIN !!??
now i realise that the "secrets" are out regarding what the team did years ago !! but in reality, that wasn't the current team !! the main 7 of this current "JLA" weren't involved !!
BATMAN was the one "mindwiped" SUPERMAN, AQUAMAN and the MARTIAN MANHUNTER weren't around !! WONDER WOMAN, FLASH [ Wally ] & GREEN LANTERN [ Kyle & John ] weren't in the team either !!
so really the team has no reason to disband over this story !! i guess the events of "SACRIFICE" will play a big part on the 3 icons not being around at the moment !!??
anyone have any thoughts on this !!
btw .... i'm still loving this story !! this post isn't meant to attack that story, it was just some thoughts, on the charcters that are involved !!
Matthew.

Well my thought is that after the league disbands due to trouble between the three, The second generation heroes in the DCU including wally, john stewart, dick grayson, one of the arrows will want to reform it. But the big three, and Ollie and perhaps older heroes will put pressure on the kids to let sleeping dogs lie.
So the story is really about shattering myths a younger generation (who are the reader's POV characters) has about their parental figures.
But eventually a new league will emerge, I'm wondering about the reunion of the Giffen era league in OMAC. Why are they continuing to be introduced into the narrative, even though Max is already dead (with two more just added in today's OMAC tie-in).

I read somewhere that Ollie and Dinah were going to try to reform the JLA after the Big Three disband it... but I don't remember where. We'll see, I guess...

Thanks for the news, Caliente. Wow...Ollie and Dinah as JLA leaders, I would love that if it does happen, they're two of my favorite DCU characters.

Fire and Metamorpho just popped up in JSA as well to deliver the bad news to Power Girl. They mention the rest of the posse (Booster and Guy) and Fire gets a bit of characterization. It's a bit of a disrespect to them that Max gets taken out in a story featuring the Big 3. I hope these guys get a chance to shine at some point and that their efforts actually lead to something.

The three of them together again. Leave the space exploration to Kyle and the others for the moment, they're handling it just fine in The Rann-Thanagar War.

I want to see the JLI-era characters actually treated as a serious team. They've proven their worth again and again and I'd love to see them get their props.
Did people forget that the same group took on freakin' Doomsday? Obviously, Diana hasn't but it seems that everyone else has.
I'd also love to see the return of the Detroit-era Steel...another character to get the shaft. What I'd really like to see is a combination of the three teams Satellite, Detroit, and JLI-eras. Maybe not as the JLA but as a group of heroes that are tired of being looked down upon. Honestly, if there are any true 'Outsiders' in the DCU it's from the JLI and Detroit teams.

I think Fire and Ice definitely have potential, especially Fire. This would be a good time to put the spotlight on Fire, since the world's most famous model at the moment is a big-haired Brazilian (Gisele.)

While it's great to see the JLI team rally together during this time of crisis, I'm still hoping to see some kind of acknowledgement of The Question's long time friendship with Beetle.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that Steel (and perhaps Vibe) were killed by Despero in the last Justice League series (when the Giffen Era became serious again). Steel was on some sort of life support, and Despero removed him from it and killed him.

Steel and Vibe were in fact killed by Despero...and that lead into what became the JLI after Max rebuilt the team.
But with the revolving door of death in comics you never really know who's gonna stay dead.
And both have made appearances in JLU...so who nows?

Werent Steel and Vibe killed by Professor Ivo's androids in JUSTICE LEAGUE (vol. 1)? I remember distinctly that Vibe's corpse was discovered (on a splash page) wearing a mask....

I believe Vibe was killed by Ivo's droids, and Steel was left as good as dead. Despero probably did him a favor.

[/b]About Black Canary, i read that in the pre-Zero Hour universe, she had been brutally raped and scarred to the extent that she lost her ability to "Sonic cry"...whats her current status power-wise?

She has the Sonic Cry back, and got it back in an early story in BoP. She was put in a lazarus pit and de-aged to early 20's, as well as had the cry returned. Not sure if the rape sequence was ever shown or not, as I've never read it. Poor Dinah

I found out about Dinah's mishap when DC brought out the Who's Who guide in a hole-punched format (when was that - late 80's? early 90's?)but that did not make me want to check up on the harrowing details either. About the BoP reference: is this a mini-series or that short-lived TV show you're talking about? Cheers! Brian

It's not a mini-series -- it's an ongoing series. It's really good. It started with Black Canary and Oracle and has now grown to include Huntress, who I don't like, but am growing to not loathe 'cause the writing is supurb. Two thumbs up. ^_^ I'm a fangirl, for sure. Which is particularly remarkable, since I actually don't like Barbara that much either. Huh. Well, go figure!

Hi Caliente!
What did you think of the Batgirl character before she turned into Oracle?
