I think I feel a little guilty for starting this thread, like I am putting bad vibes out there for DC or wanting them to fail, which I do NOT... But surely... SURELY the pros at DC comics MUST know that the market cannot sustain all of these brand new and in many cases untested titles--?? Especially some of the more off-the-wall ones... Anyhoo, I felt I should say I didn't mean to be a downer, I started this like I start most things, because I was feeling silly

Whilst I do not disagree with your list I say they all make 13 issues before the axe comes as after all the hoopla they will be given plenty of time to succeed
Of your top five I say Demon Knights is the most likely to go first as it appears to have nothing to protect it unlike the others
If Sgt Rock and Blackhawks get the same amount of protection that Jonah Hex gets allowing lousy sales for brand variance they could be around for quite awhile. OMAC is co-written by the co-boss and Bat Wing has Bat at the beginning of the title which should be good for a few thousand sales

I think a series like "Demon Knights" has a shot of sticking around due to its connection to the DCU - they can go to that well the way the Legion can. (look! Mon-El's a Green Lantern!) I'd be interested to see who else is going to be in that book.
"Mister Terrific" has a shot of sticking around because 1)He's a big part of their push for diversity so I doubt he'll go at the first round of cancellations and 2)His ties to the JSA. If they use his series as the de facto place for JSA fans to go to find out what happened to those characters, he might make it.
I would think that the western and war comics will be the first to go. (what, no romance series DC? Or is that what Voodoo is meant to be?)
Anything can happen though right? Who'd have thought a Booster Gold series would last beyond three issues? The fact that they made Booster important in the tapestry of the DCU is what made that book interesting.

All-Star Western is just a continuation of the existing Jonah Hex series, so I don't see that going anywhere.
My vote is for I, Vampire. I'm tempted to ask my local CBS shop owners in August if they got ANY preorders for that turkey.

I predict that all of the titles that are 'new' aka not-a-currently-published-title will be cancelled in 6-12 months. And all the 'old' titles that were reset to #1 will go back to their original numbering with some semblance of the pre-reset continuity once again in place within 12-24 months. Also, at some point durring the cancellations and return to previous numbering, major firings and/or a mass exodus of artists, writers and editors will occur as the parent corparation realizes just what a disaster this concept really was and comes down on DC HARD. EDIT: Unless of course it is true that DC is doing this to put the comic shops out of business and destroy the print market in favor of the digital market. If THAT is the case then it will only be artists and writers that suffer after the cancellations and return to original numbering while those in charge get HUGE raises and rewards.

Another good thing to wager on: How many of the 52 will get ANNUALS?

When I was a kid, I really like Sgt. Rock, and Sgt. Fury & the Howling Commandos.
The Navy Seals are pretty popular right now, too. Rock should float by for at least a year, just on their coat tails.

"Each title has a SIX ISSUE commitment." Wether this is by the creative teams or to the title's longevity is not made clear...

This interview is interesting to me, since lobdell soounds like he's a tad burned out with the grimdark of previous storylines and wants to drag a few of the darker characters (such as Jason and Roy) out of this cycle of character abuse they've been going through and put them on a hero's journey sort of thing. Kory doesn't fit that theme as much as the others, although the relaunch seems to be giving him some leeway to tweak that.

I really struggled to put together a list of 10 for my pull list. Most of them are the Legion (natch!) and the big guns. I'm sure I will pick up more for a month or two, but I don't see ALL STAR WESTERN or FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E. making it too long. I used to like Hawk and Dove, but can't put it on my pull list. I know they need new fans, but they need us old guys with money too.
Long Live all them Legions!

Now that I have laid eyes on some of the books and seen some of the astounding sales figures... Originally posted by Risky Barton, boy adventurer: PREDICTION:
FIRST WAVE OF CANCELLATIONS
Men of War
Blackhawk
OMAC
Demon Knights
Bat-Wing
SECOND WAVE OF CANCELLATIONS
Mr. Terrific
Blue Beetle
Voodoo
Grifter
THIRD WAVE OF CANCELLATIONS
Legion Lost
Hawk & Dove
Suicide Squad
Frankenstein: Agent of Shade
Captain Atom
Red Lanterns
MAJOR PREDICTION:
None of the above comics will last 13 issues. ...I am still pretty convinced we are going to see some steep dropoffs in sales by issue # 5. We know DC is lining up 'mid-season replacement' titles like Justice Society as we speak. Currently I will stand by my predictions with the possible exceptions of OMAC and Bat-Wing...

Copy/Pasted from BLEEDING COOL...
And there were also rumours that Ivan Brandon was stepping down from Men Of War, which I’ve been able to scotch. However I have been told from the source that scotched that story that Men Of War has been named as a book that will be cancelled with issue 6, along with a number of other books.
This is just rumor at present, of course...

Since I still haven't been able to buy anything new, you all know who to point fingers at when your favorite '52' bites the dust.

From what I'm reading, there's apparently a ZERO TOLERANCE for books that don't perform to expectations, which is why cancellation rumors at issue 6 are already floating... I expect to see books dropping like flies.

Reviews may suck but I'm pretty sure saleswise JL will perform as long as Jim Lee draws it.
That guy could sell 100,000 copies of ANGEL & THE APE...

I know John Rozum has stepped down from Static Shock with only one book out. He says it was his call, that it was amicable and that he still has work upcoming from DC. At the same time he's kinda tight-lipped about it. Don't know if sales are bad or if there's a problem with co-writer/artist Scott McDaniel (who Rozum hasn't said anything about in his statements) or something else, but it's worrisome. Makes me glad, though, that I didn't try it out (even with the good reviews) if the creative team is already unstable.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Agreed. In fact, this may very well make me decide to drop STATIC SHOCK now before I get too invested.
Conversely-- word that the man KEITH GIFFEN himself will take over co-writing GREEN ARROW with Dan Jurgens as of issue 4 has probably convinced me to stick WITH that book.

From a BleedingCool article entitled "The DC Comics Real White Board of Doom"-- "In the DC Comics offices, on one particular wall, sits a white board, tracking each of the new 52 series, split into a number of sections.
Whether the writing and the art are comic in on schedule, the nature of the reviews the book is receiving and any perceived tone or story problems.
As simple as it sounds, books are marked Green (good to go), Yellow (needs fill-in issues to stay on schedule, editorial review), Red (on the chopping block) or ‘X’ (cancelled).
There’s absolutely a whirlwind of creative staff adjustments happening behind the scenes. Existing creators and unattached freelancers are being approached to pitch storylines on books that just came out. Multiple writers are pitching on series, but at least this time they are being told up front that they’re in competition with other people.
And everyone signing non disclosure agreements…
Say, anyone visiting the offices shortly with a camphone?"

*tee-hee* Uncanny X-Men pushed down to # 25! I really liked OMAC # 1. But we all *KNEW* that not all these NEW 52 comics were going to make it... right?
