You guys are SOOOO right about the Hulk run but I think Jason would be a great nemesis for Dick. He's everything Dick is not and they are still to this day vying for the attention of Bruce.

It has potential. However, I don't like seeing the Nightwing costume sullied as happened on the second page of this issue.

I liked JSA # 83, I thought it was the best issue in a long time; I'm intrigued to see where this is going.

Anyone read JSA Classified #10? It also has OYL on the cover, and the story (by Stuart Moore) focuses on Vandal Savage in both the past and present. There's a great confrontation near the end between him and his daughter Scandal; she really puts him in his place. Plus it's building to a battle between Vandal and Alan Scott, presumably next issue. The only weak spot is Paul Gulacy's art, but I already knew he's way past his prime, so I didn't expect any better.

I gave Hawkgirl a chance, but I won't be reading future issues. In all honesty, I've just never been able to get into the hawk-people as lead characters, even though they've had some great talents work on their stories over the years.

And Green Lantern # 10 (OYL) is out next Wednesday, so I won't be able to read it until my next monthly trip to the comics shop...and it's guest-penciled by Ivan Reis! Oh, the anticipation...

I liked Hawkgirl OYL. The story was good, it ran by pretty quick. I didn't ignore anything in the past and even acknowledge all the Hurricanes that hit LA, given the books location. It is even given more connection between the Hawks and St Roach. I can't wait to find out what happened to Hawkman.

I'm just very glad that Hawkman still survives, albeit, in Rao knows what form. Haven't read that one yet...

I've started to catch up to the OYL, and at this point, the only 'meh' ones are the Judd Winnick ones, though I only realized that after I read them. Outsiders was okay, but Green Arrow was pure crap, and read like Winnick stole ideas from 100 other different stories. Oh yeah, and Nightwing (sigh).

So far the Batman & Superman comics out: A+
Aquaman: A
Outsiders: C
Green Arrow: D-

Firestorm: B. I actually picked this up, hoping a OYL break might help. I've loathed the fact that there is no Ronnie so far. But, the inclusion of Martin Stein and Firehawk into the series is enough to draw me in, and I have to admit that I like Stuart Moore's writing. Jason Rusch isn't a bad character at all, its just the fact that I can't help but feel slighted by DC.

BOP: A
Nightwing: C-
JSA: A-

Hm...not sure if I'm missing anything. And DC's non-Super-Hero comics, like Jonah Hex and the much underappreciated Joe Kubert SGT Rock mini have been EXCELLENT.

i have a question .... how long are the books stated to be titled 'One Year Later' !!??

ie are the books due to be called this for the next 12 issues or so ??

because in reality, the books are ALL going to be forever, se one year in the future [ so to speak ] i mentioned this in the '52' thread, it it got me a little confused ??

if all the books are currently set ONE YEAR LATER, and '52' which starts pretty soon, details that missing year, by the time '52' reaches it's end, the DC UNIVERSE will now be 2 YEARS LATER !!??

does that make sense ......

so titles which have had title changes, 'SUPER GIRL & LSH' & 'HAWKGIRL" when will they [ if ever ] revert back to their original titles ??

will this happen in a years time ??

i'm very confused

Matthew.

That's a good question for which I don't think I've seen an answer.

I sure hope DC has an exit strategy in place.

That would get awkward, wouldn't it? Maybe the stories for the next year are going to all take place in a finite (and relatively short) amount of time.

Before you know it, Legion stories'll be happening alongside JLA and Teen Titans ones.

I'll bet that sales will dictate what titles revert or don't.

My guess is is that books and solicitations will say OYL until all the major titles have been relaunched. Flash, Wonder Woman and JLofA being the three that come to mind.

As for the confustion. Remember that even though comics come out monthly, nowhere near a month passes for the characters. Most comics start seconds after the issue preceding it ended.

By this time next year, most titles will have seen 2-3 major storylines play out. This could happen in just a couple of weeks from the characters' perspective in the story.

52 is different, it will actually happen more or less in real time. Each issue will cover a week in the year. So when 52 ends, only a few weeks will have passed in all the other titles.

Maybe 52 will have a 53rd issue (52 plus 1?) that
catches everything up and aligns 'story time' with 'real time'.

His first Nightwing issue wasn't great, but it wasn't completely horrible either. I'm willing to see how this first storyline goes.

Stealth, read this and it was excellent! Take note LWers, I highly reccomend! Best Vandal Savage story in a long time, and I'm hungry for part II.

Also: OYL Robin was an excellent issue, and the best that book has been since...well, probably since way back during Dixon/Grummet! The sinker for me was the relationship b/t Tim and Bruce (and how its referenced to Dick) and that they actually spent the missing year purposely refocusing on the trust between the three of them, and an openness that wasn't there before. Even simply stated like that makes me happy.

Glad to hear you liked it, Cobie. It goes a long way toward making up for that horrible Vandal Savage story in Flash, doesn't it?

And I also want to rephrase something I said on page one of this thread: Villains United fans note -- Scandal Savage appears in this issue, and who's to say she might not appear again in the story arc?

OK, with regards to JSA: Classified, can someone let me know how exactly Click Here For A SpoilerVandal Savage ended up trapped in an asteroid, or did that all happen in the One Year gap? I couldn't tell if it was a direct follow on from the Flash story (I'd dropped Flash long before that story but I heard it involved Savage and was a bit of a stinker) or if it was a part of the story that we haven't been told at all.

Vandal Savage tried to make an asteroid crash into Earth, but Flash reversed the polarity of Savage's doomsday device, so both Savage and the asteroid ended up flying away into space.

All of the above took place in the eminently missable Flash story. Everything since then takes place in JSA Classified, and I don't want to spoil it, it's too good to spoil.

I really think they should have timed things better so that the Infinite Crisis finished before the OYL issues started coming out. I mean, you begin to see who made it through the Crisis, which takes some of the suspense out of it. And in JSA, for example, you see Click Here For A Spoilerthe Flash still zipping around, so you know that whether or not there is still a Speed Force, the Flash still has some form of super-speed.

Kinda like Jim Shooter's SECRET WARS, isn't it?

I suppose they wanted to go a different route from CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, where it took several months (and in some cases, several years-- heh heh) before the changes brought about kicked in. But that doesn't make it good...

Did IC slip again this week? It's not listed on the Diamonds site that I could see.

That certainly isn't helping matters any.

Well damn.

So I picked up my weekly comics and was a bit disrtacted so I didn't notice that that I got Hawkgirl and JSA Classified again. So I go back to the store and trade the issues for the OYL Robin and Manhunter.

Robin was good. Really liked the artwork. Decent story.

Manhunter. I may have to start getting this now. I liked what I saw. It was a great intro issue to the world of Kate Spencer and I liked what I read. Yet another to add to the list. Damn that Dido.

So anyone pick up the new Blue Beattle? Or the latest issue of Superman?

Click Here For A Spoiler I for one think the death of Superboy Conner Kent is a total red herring. They wouldn't show that new statue of Superman and Superboy wihtout it being total misdirection.

I've been avoiding this thread until I get caught up on all my books (this happens on April 7).

But I couldn't resist any longer...

AQUAMAN and SUPERMAN are good reads now? FIREHAWK back in action? Surprise, surprise.

Superman continues to be excellent.

Blue Beetle was actually VERY good. I definately reccomend and want more.

But the absolute best comic OYL so far IMO has GOT to be Green Lantern! Great, great, great comic! Lots of hints and intrigue, Hal at his most interesting ever in his super hero career, action, supporting characters...this is the best issue of the series so far and the best of the bunch (tied with the Bat books, which are excellent).

Lash, Aquaman and Superman are both A+ level right now! Firehawk is in Firestorm, which I'm considering giving a second chance at this point.

DC (or any comic book company) has never been this good in my lifetime.
