PEREZ 15, LEE 7
(Not counting Pro, because I'm not clear on if he got it or not-- please verify, Pro!, and not counting Scott's 3 mystery copies)

Perez all the way. I like both as artists, but I liked the Perez cover a lot more. So that's: PEREZ 16, LEE 7

Perez is one of my favourite artists *ever* but I gotta say his cover to Infinite Crisis #1 is definitely not one of his better jobs.
I really don't get why its getting all the love it has been on the internet. To me its just a crowded, badly composed cover that really doesn't leave me feeling any type of emotion. Lee on the other hand, who is an artist whose work I used to *despise*, has produced a cover with a lot more emotional impact and a lot better composition. I much, much prefer it.
That said though - I bought the Perez one . I plan on getting all seven issues with the same cover artist and I thought Perez would be the more reliable one to produce covers I like, based on his past performance. Plus - he's got Mal and Karen on the cover to issue #4 and there's NO WAY I'm not getting a cover with them on!

From these replies, I'm kind of confused whether people actively prefer the PEREZ cover, or buy that version out of loyalty (which is fine and understandable).

I bought the Perez cover because I liked it better. That said, Perez has been one of my favorite artists since NTT in the early '80s. Lee on the other hand is not one of my favorites. I don't consign him to Liefeld Land (Lee generally seems to know his anatomy, though not always), but given the choice between Lee and Perez, it was simply a no-brainer.

I bought the the Perez cover because I thought it looked better then the Lee one. Perez has always-in my opinion-been able to tell a story with his covers.

I would have gotten the Perez cover anyways (which I did), but I still liked the Lee cover... just not as much For me, the Perez cover was far better for the 1st issue: It showed the new dynamic of the 3 main DCU families (Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman), plus it brought in elements of the 4 books leading up to it (OMACs, Rann-Thanagar, Villains and Spectre). The only downside was that the Freedom Fighters played a key role in the first issue, but didn't make the cover. I will say that I preferred the black and white version to the colorized version. The pencils were crisp and clean, but the image became much darker in color, and the digitized effects washed out some of it, I think. Still liked it better than Lee's I'm curious to see what issue 2 looks like. I think that's the only Perez cover to not be shown thus far.

It pains me to see a lot of my favorite artists from the 80's with modern coloring styles. Especially Alan Davis - it's a travesty to put overpowering gradient heavy photorealistic coloring over his clean lines. Just a total mismatch to his illustrative non-photorealistic style.

I'll always prefer Perez over anyone else. There is so much detail in his work that just blows me away. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen sloppy Perez work.
Lee's good but I've never been a fan of the Image boys.
I know that Jimenez is trying to capture that in this series but no one can do detail like the master.

I've got nothing at all against Lee. I like his artwork a lot, and the man himself seems like a nice guy.
But we've been able to see the covers in advance and the Perez ones just impress me more.

I forgot to specify which cover I wanted, so I ended up with the Lee cover. I'll have to make sure I specify Perez before the second issue arrives.
Still, it's not a big deal to me. At least now I have something to point to whenever I criticize Lee as being the most overrated artist in the world. I mean, this cover is so bad it's funny -- looks like he tossed it off in 15 minutes!

If I'm reading everything correctly, it's
PEREZ 23, LEE 8 so far.
Lee is gettin' his ditchin'-Marvel-to-help-form-Image-then-sellin'-his-share-of-Image-to-DC-for-millions ASS kicked!

I guess it's a win/win for DC. I got Perez but that's cause I got the first one I saw. Jim Lee may be getting his ass kicked on these boards but I have a feeling his covers may be selling more. IMO Jim Lee is a better cover artist...but not by much. But Perez is a better storyteller...but not by much...ok...a little much.

So, as it stands now, we have confirmed:
PEREZ 27, LEE 10
Will Lee's darlin' Power Girl showcase for # 2 tip the scales in his favor, or will Perez' Power Girl buttshot and DCU myriad be favored?
We shall soon see.

Once again, both covers look great, but I'm likely to go with the Perez.

Power Girl's ass? my ass! LOL! Anyway, seriously, I think that Power Girl looking at the mosiac windows shows more feelings than the Lee cover: in awe, ominous, imminent, "oh my", "damn", who this who this, little shock, etc. the Lee cover just made me say "oh, ah pretty...hmm okay". so this time #2 I will buy the Perez cover only.

With all due respect to both artists, Lee's covers so far are pin-ups. Perez puts a lot more storytelling into his compositions. You can definitely put me in the Perez box all the way to Infinity# infinity and beyond!
