Great news. I'll definitely pick this one up.

Anyone else read the latest issue? No comments? Don't stone me, but Levitz's writing isn't blowing me away. This feels like a fill-in, just given a higher profile since it is OYL.
Just spouting off.

I'm still worried about Rick and Sand.

The current arc isn't bad, but it's not outrageously memorable.
I think that's the problem when you have a title that has been helmed by the same person for so long. Any other creator is just gonna feel like a filler if they are only on the title for a short time.
Geoff has made JSA "his" book, so until he's gone for good no one else would feel right. The exception might be Roy Thomas, who had such a long association with the JSA that he might be able to step in, although certainly this JSA is fairly different from his past versions.

I agree with ya to some degree, Cru. But if this arc was suppose to set up the future of the title, then it certainly could have more energy to it. Instead, it seems the title is waiting for Geoff's return to really catch on the OYL fever.
Robinson is only doing an 8ish stint on the Batbooks, but he's certainly wowing the readers.
I almost wish Levitz had used this period to flashback, give us a story of the original JSA. There'd be no worry about setting up Geoff's return, and think how wild that would be. Everyone is always clamouring for the orginial Atom, Midnight, and Hourman (sort of a Classified story.)
Just spouting off.

Nooooo! *sob* JSA usually sells in the 50k+ range. I don't think this is a sales related cancellation. More likely an Infinite Crisis related one.

I read somewhere or other that they are relaunching the title as Justice Society of America to parallel the new Justice League of America title.

I thought it just meant that Geoff was coming back to the title... since it said paving the way for the next chapter or whatever.

It would most certainly be in keeping with what DC has been doing lately. The solicit implies that the series will continue in some way. Also, note that JSA Classified#14 will appear that month and it is not listed as a final issue. In some form or other, I'm sure the JSA will be around.

Geoff has put a unique stamp on this book, and I am going to hate to see the loss of great characters like Terrific and Al to other books.
But, as they say, change happens. I will be waiting for the new book and read it as always.
Still, i do wish they would stop with all the new number ones. That ship is old and the sails are gettin pretty tattered.

Oh, and just what is it with DC editors that they can't seem to understand that the JSA is legendary, and people actually want to read them.
The early nineties book was killed by an editor, not the sales.
Doofusio doesn't like older characters....there seems to be a lot of age discrimination at DC these days, in terms of both characters and creators.

I guess we want another #1 to sell a few thousand more books. Blech.

Poor Ma Hunkel... I hope they don't make her clean up that whole mess by herself! She's a little older than Jarvis, after all... Oh, and it's nice to see someone draw Power Girl with boobs that are good sized, but don't threaten to tip her over

Well we know Terrific and Alan Scott are in Checkmate. So who will be on the relaunched team?

It's like they are dividing the team up to be in other books, hoping to boost sales all around. Like with Obsidian in Manhunter...
It's a "spread the wealth and empty our pockets" kind of thing. I would have zero interest in Checkmate, but TEPTB ("E" added for "Evil") are trying to sucker more of my hardly earned cash by throwing some JSAers in it!!! For shame DC!!

And I'm with those of you who hate the whole "relaunch with a new #1". DC just basically restored the Superman numbering by changing Adventures of Superman back to Superman... so they are sending mixed messages here. Any why kill a book only a year before the easy 100 mark? JSA is a big seller, whether a #1 or a #23, or a #87 1/2 for crying out loud!! It makes no cents! (yes, the misspelling was intentional).

There's an interview with Levitz in the recent WIZARD. He's asked about cancelling JSA.He mentions he didn't like it, but Didio had a good reason. His follow up suggests there won't be a relaunch.
With the split of the team (Alan and Michael in Checkmate, Kendra quitting) and the rumoured League going unlimited, would there be a need for a JSAteam?
Just spouting off.
