I hope the Hector/Lyta thing is revisited.
SPOILER SPACE SPOILER SPACE
SPOILER SPACE SPOILER SPACE
SPOILER SPACE SPOILER SPACE
SPOILER SPACE SPOILER SPACE
As it is, the wrap-up of their story is terribly unsatisfying. Lyta, in particular, was a major subplot throughout most of this title's run and *never* received her 'moment in the sun'. Not even a second, really.
Do you read it that Hec and Lyta's physical bodies are now dead, spiritless husks left in a snowy landscape of hell? Daniel of Dream whisks off their 'spirits' (dreamselves?) off to Dream...
...lots of 'outs' there. Nothing that could be trumpeted if Hec and Lyta return to the DCU eventually.
Maybe *they'll* helm a new Infinity, Inc. After all, we were told that two *JSAers* would never be seen again.
We know Mordru shows up again eventually, so that plot is hamstrung, a bit (a facet of all his appearances in the 21st Century).
I'm glad Jakeem didn't go the way of Element Lad-- did Qwsp try this again outside the galaxy and time between reboot Legion's Rift and LOST stories?
I like that the Thunderbolt is thought of as a member in his own right.
More SAND, HOURMAN and MID-NITE!

Uh, has the whole Fury-Sandman connection been incorporated in the current DC Universe or has that been officially retconned? Also, did Fury and Silver Scarab's baby survive?

I'm upset. I loved Hector as Dr. Fate. It just made so much sense. Not only that IMO Hector as Dr. Fate was an example that this is a new JSA.
I've never been into the Earth 2 JSA stuff because it was too old school. This version really clicked for me. My favorite title for years. I was waiting for them to do something with Fury. At this point I rather them not have even brought her back.
If Nabu is going to be Dr. Fate with the KC look? It isn't as bad as Kent Nelson returning.

Man. I'll admit it -- I'm annoyed. I liked how everything panned out in the 5th dimension... mostly...
But dude. Hector got shite on the entire run of JSA. That's just not cool. At all. So, in a way, I'm almost glad he's gone...ish. Because, at least now, he can't be shite on anymore.
Because that's so uncool. And we all know how I love Geoff but yeah. Not nice at all. *glares at him* He's lucky he's pretty...

Hector has ALWAYS gotten the raw end of the deal...even owning back to his Infinity Days.
This is the real Curse of the Hawks...not that whole reincarnation thing.

I admit I didn't see this one coming.
As much as I love this book, it's always been overstuffed character wise, so cutting back in and of itself isn't a bad thing. But this is unfortunate if it's really their final appearance, especially since it wasn't that long ago that Lyta came back.

Gotta say, I'm not pleased. So much of the series focused on Hector and his destiny as the "new" Doctor Fate, and then his tireless quest/obsession to find his beloved Fury, only to have them both gone? What a waste of a storyline. I don't like the "disembodied Nabu" inhabiting the helmet and cloak, it's lame!!!
Haven't even read it yet (just the spoilers here), but I can already see a "thumbs down" review for this from me! There better be another grand design thing happening here!!

To me, this seems like a stunt to fulfil a Kingdom Come prediction (and I'm being polite). Sacrificing two beloved characters who finally seemed to be given a fair shake after years of neglect (I think they both have died twice) just so Fate could be a disembodied helm as in KC is awful. Haven't the former Infinitors suffered enough? I haven't read it yet either. I will, but I'm in no hurry.

Rockhopper, I agree. It seems they are trying to be too much like KC. We've seen it through many titles currently in DC. Captain Atom has his KC look. Now Dr. Fate. And honestly there was a way to keep Hector as Fate with the KC look.
Also Fury? You know I wished they never brought her back. She's been a bump on a log since Gaiman wrote her in Sandman. She came back...and has hardly said a word. Why even bring her back?
The 5th Dimension story was pretty good except I am confused about why the Thunderbolt has like a thunderbolt family...and it seemed a bit silly. The rest of the story rocked and it seems the JSA gained a cool villain.
Sadly I am debating dropping this title...not sure. It was my fave for a while but this last storyline tried my patience...as does anything IC related...lately.

don't ask us...ask Grant Morrison..probably the 5th dimension is HUGE - more than we imagined. Also. no one comments that George Perez is drawing two JSA covers in a row....I can see that Mr. Terrific, Dr Mid Nite, Stargirl, JJ Thunder, Flash, and Green Lantern are on the cover..indicating that they made it alive from the Crisis....so what happen to Hourman, Sand, Wildcat?

I wouldn't be surprised if they killed Hourman. After all, he was an Infinitor. It does seem to be open season on them.

I kinda liked Wildcat II (Yolanda Montez) - is she still alive or is she, like Dr. Midnight (Beth Chapel) on the RIP list?

The Official Infinitor Body Count is:
Star-Spangled Kid I/Skyman: (Sylvester Pemberton): Dead Dr. Midnight (Beth Chapel): Dead Wildcat II (Yolanda Montez): Dead Huntress II (Helena Wayne): Never existed Silver Scarab/Sandman III/Dr. Fate IV (Hector Hall) and Fury II (Lyta Hall): See above
To this add: Obsidian (Todd Rice): Went mad, then evil; lost powers Atom Smasher/Nuklon (Albert Rothstein): Went mad, then (arguably) evil; now in prison Northwind (Norda Cantrell): Became a non-verbal bird creature (another Kingdom Come stunt) Brainwave (Hank King): Went mad, then evil; recovering Hourman II (Rick Tyler): Got addicted to Miraclo, nearly died; active in JSA (for now) Jade (Jennie-Lynn Hayden): Powers left, then came back Power Girl (Karen Starr): That could take a while
I don't know what DC has against the Infinitors, but they have had a very rough time of it.

If Hourman or any others die...I suggest making Star Girl going mad...and dying. Then bring back Star-Spangled Kid I(Pemberton). I would like to see Geoff's reaction to that. jk jk.

Gotta say, with the reincarnated Carter, I always thought having Hector was weird. They never really had Hec and Kendra interact, which would have really messed me up. I thought this was one of the best write-outs tho'.
Just spouting off.

I think it was in the JSA All-Stars mini-series that Hec and Kendra had a conversation that included a line to the effect, "Does it bother you that you used to be my mother?"

Hahaha. *cough* I mean, not laughing. Er... right.
I just want to say that I wouldn't be surprised if they killed off Sand. He hasn't really done anything in forever and a day, so... yeah. I'd be sad, kinda but... not surprised, really.
I'd be PO'd if they killed Rick. Man, I like him. And they never resolved anything with him and Jesse. Actually, they've yet to resolve the Jesse thing at all. But, if I'm not mistaken, they will sometime in the relatively near future...

I'm sorry. I still think it was a crappy way to get rid of two "expendable" characters--who, of course, were nothing of the kind. And why on earth should we want Nabu to be in control of Dr. Fate again? Over the past several years, he's been portrayed as a manipulative, amoral liar. This should be DC's second most powerful character?
And for heaven's sake, KC wasn't so great that every secondary character in the DCU has to conform to how they were portrayed in it.
Hec and Lyta deserved a whole lot better than what they got.
Then again, we were once told that Kal-L would never be seen again...

I like Keith. But deserving an Eisner for having them fight off vultures...and then dying? Um...no.
I'm already dropping JSA but if I wasn't and after IC they brought Kent Nelson back...oh I would've dropped it twice. I have this scare that they are going to "revert" to former incarnations of the characters.
