For those who missed out on #1, Warren just posted this to his Bad Signal e-mail/blog: I just received this from a retailer friend, who received it from Marvel via their "Retailer Emailer" service: ### NEXTWAVE DIRECTORS CUT #1 (DEC058188) Marvel is going back to press and offering a special Directors Cut edition of Next Wave #1 at no extra cost. FOC 2/23 on sale 3/15. Retailers are advised to recheck their orders on Nextwave #2 (DEC052025) which has moved to on sale 3/1 and an FOC of 2/9/06. ### I also understand that, a few minutes from now, retailers will be given evidence that #2 is entirely complete, so that no nasty rumours get started as a result of Marvel pushing the FOC (Final Order Cutoff) back a week. They're pushing the FOC back to give retailers an extra week to adjust their orders with the new information regarding this Director's Cut reprint. Details on the contents of the Director's Cut will follow on Thursday, I believe. -- W

From Warren's blog, a scene from NextWave #5:
Click Here For A SpoilerIn lieu of actual content, here, from NEXTWAVE #5, are possibly the most monstrous two panels I've yet written: -- Pic 2 CUT TO: LITTLE CAPTAIN, eight years old, wearing the same black-star-on-white t-shirt, stands in the doorway of his bedroom. A silhouette of a hanged teddy bear is on the wall. His little eyes are wide. I-BOX: THE CAPTAIN had as strange a childhood as any of the Next Wave Squad: LITTLE CAP: ...Special Bear? Pic 3 CUT TO: The CAP'S MOM, stick thin and drunk off her ass, vodka in hand, sits on the child's bed, pointing a flashlight at Special Bear, a teddy who's been hanged from the light fitting, neck broken. MOM Special Bear's dead.

OK, LWers, I need some help: how many issues are out the stands so far? I haven't grabbed any yet, but fully intended to pick up the first couple (if for nothing other than Monica, who I love).

This debuted lower than Thing. Which, after three issues, is already at the levels Four got cancelled. And lower than Howling Commandoes, which is dead @ #6.
Not long for this world I expect.

Cobie the second one hit this week.
It's is scheduled for 12 issues and yes if it makes it past that, I'll eat all the Liefeld X-Force issues I have. Though I think Marvel will likely let it hit 12 if only because of the experimental marketing they've been trying with it.

Originally posted by Caliente: Also, would like to see more Aaron Stack and less Tabitha I second that emotion! Machine Man's the Bomb-diggity!! It was also nice to see his extendo-arms again (can the finger guns be far behind??). Even if this series turns out to be short-lived, I hope Ellis is given a chance to wrap things up before the end.

I can't find the link right now, but Warren's said a few times on his blog and site that the maxiseries label on Marvel's site was a mistake and it's an ongoing.
'What the--a robot shark!'
Be warned--I liked post-ZH.

Yeah we'll see. Lately, Marvel's publication model for its B-list titles seems to be 12 or 18 issues. Put the TPBs out and let the word of mouth on those spur "Season 2" maybe. It worked for Runaways.
His set up of 2 issue stories where they take out another monster lends itself really well to this.

All the solicits state that its Nextwave (X of 12), and I'm sure I read somewhere where Ellis stated that it was not an ongoing. But I can't find any links other than to the Marvel solicits, and welcome anyone to prove me wrong.

So, is anyone buying the Crayon Butchery Varient and entering the coloring contest ? I'm tempted but I'd probably never get around to sending it in.

I didn't manage to get the coloring variant, but it coulda been fun.
I loved the little flashback moments - especially finding out what happened with Aaron and the Celestials - too funny! (reminded me of "Hitchhikers..." for some reason) Loved the Vision crying reference too.
What other book has robot samurai, killer koalas and homicidal broccoli?

I finally got the chance to read the 1st trade today. Good stuff, I can't wait until my copy of the 2nd comes in.
Does anyone have a copy of the Crayon Butchery edition? If possible could someone scan some pages so I could work on my coloring?

I have never read this, but am intrigued by the inclusion of Monica Rambeau (a very underused Avenger, with one of my favorite powers, explaining also my odd fascination for similar energy-form characters like Black Vulcan, Air-Wave and Lazon) and Machine Man, as well as by the Elsa Bloodstone character. Not so much Captain @&#! and Boom-Boom, but hey, they can't all be my favorites.
