And we couldn't write our last story without a few beats for them, hopefully wrapping up a major dangling thread for Dani. Well, they've got me curious, I wonder which dangling thread it'll be. I already miss Dani. That character in House of M is not her.

I really will miss the banished creators- but, Lord, this storyline seems to be lasting *forever*!
'Fake' reality stories shouldn't last longer than two issues! If that. Otherwise, the story should be housed in its own miniseries.
I'm torn about staying with this title after HOUSE OF M. Have the new writers said anything about Dani's generation of mutants? Will she, Magma, Kharma, etc. be featured?
If not, I'm not sure I like the Hellions enough to stick with NEW X-MEN: The X-Men Academy (ungainliest title in comics). I *know* that X-23154 is a disincentive for me.

Nope, as far as I know, no one's said anything about the original New Mutants except that Rahne is staring in the new X-Factor.

I would love to see a new title with
RAHNE/DANI/SAM/AMARA/ROBERTO/SHAN
throw in RICTOR AND BOOMER and I'd be buying!

Well, Rahne and Rictor are going to be in PAD's X-Factor. No word on the others though (although, to judge from Cable/Deadpool #18, Cannonball and Boomer/Meltdown will make it through the DeciMation alive and with their powers intact).

And the Yearbook is here and it's the end, my friend. They fight, they all kiss and make up (in David and Nori's case, literally), and we get a happy ending, which is AFAIC the last of the characters. I won't be getting the DeciMated New "the Academy is gone" X-Men post-DeF and Weir.
Plus we get Yearbook-style squad pics of the NMs, Hellions, Paragons, Corsairs and Alpha Squadron, and Handbook-style bios for all the NMs, Hellions, plus Dani (listed as "Mirage" for some reason Danifans), Magma and Karma.

I'll miss the title as it was before the HOUSE OF M story, too. I bought the last issue of that storyline, but I haven't even looked at it. Maybe I will when HOUSE OF M concludes (next week?).
I liked the yearbook- particularly the Jay/Elixir scene (I didn't know Jay's vocal power worked as shown here- kind of cool. Subtle.) The 'class portraits' were nice, too. Lots of tidbits that I'm sure the writers wanted to include if their run had been allowed to continue. The more elaborate entries are substantive, too. I haven't read all of them closely, yet- but I enjoyed the MAGMA and ICARUS ones.

It's kind of pointless; I don't think anything's going to come out of it. (I was hoping the characters would remember this reality.) There was a nice panel of Dani and Ilyanna interaction. It looks liike Ilyanna might have been teleporting (to Limbo? She knows it's out there) when the HoM reality came to an end. That could be used to bring her back, but I don't see it happening any time soon.
BTW, from interviews with the new creators that I've read, I get the impression that although they're focusing on only a few characters the rest of the cast isn't going to just disapear. It sounds to me like at least some of them will remain as suporting characters. No guarantee of course.

For a second I thought you meant the HOUSE OF M conclusion, not the NEW X-MEN HOM miniseries-within-a-series...

I think the last panel of the NXM issue was depicting the end of the HoM universe.

NEW X-MEN 20
This was a fairly interesting examination of the different ways characters at X mansion react to the 'decimation'. A variety of reactions are presented. Which is a good thing. X23 isn't as overwhelming or annoying as I thought she'd be. But she isn't *really* yet a part of the cast in the story. I felt for the ex-mutant who wanted to fly-- and the one who drowned.

As of issue #20, it looks like Mirage (Danielle Moonstar) is gone. If that's the case... guess who else will be away from the title. Three guesses; the first two don't count.

That's off-topic in this thread. The thread title is "Academy X/New Mutants" and the Academy is gone, and so are the NMs

Here's a cute Newarama interview with the New Mutants pre-Reload in case y'all are aching for the good old days before this title went to heck: http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9121

NEW X-MEN #27
I'm *this* close to dropping. Killing characters right and left in a non-imaginary/Elseworlds kind of story may be 'cutting edge', but it's an edge that I wish would get dull in a hurry. If the character *still* on the verge of dying doesn't recover, then that's it for me with this title. It isn't even because I'm a huge fan of the character-in-question... I'm not... it's just that there's been toooooo much death in this title. At least a switcheroo accomplished the survival of another character-- which was a neat little plot device, though it didn't come in time to aid the offing of another minor X-student. I do appreciate a certain energy I find in the storytelling, but not enough, perhaps.
The other twists cancel each other out. One features a change to a character that is interesting and curiosity-arousing. The other features the 'rise' of an old X-opponent who I found boring the first time around. For the same reasons that Cable, Bishop and Rachel Gray don't appeal to me. They all share a convoluted history that I wish Marvel could somehow wipe out of existence. Crisis of the Crowded Timelines, maybe?

I just read this entire series in the last three weeks. First off it's no New Mutants. And personally I am glad about "No More Mutants". There were just too many. Now we have a cast about 20 to 25 students. I can deal with that. Infact it very much reminds me of the Legion. But what's up with all the death! I know the X-folks are about angst...but these kids never catch a break. Heck the Hellions mini was happier than all of this. It's all tragedy. Wither, Windfall, Prodigy, Wallflower, Tag, etc! I like how the writer isn't afraid to do big things in this little X-title...but c'mon. It's not even a roller coaster...it goes straight down. Title needs more stability. And why is Emma Frost insane in this series?

I don't recall anyone being happy about it at the time.
