While it sounds like a night out in Croydon I'm going to guess its a Bowie song. Can't think which one right now.

I really need to make a trip to your neck of the woods someday.
It's not a Bowie song, but the act in question was intially very influenced by him.

Can't say when I'll be back online, so if you know it, take it away, Ded.
Otherwise, I'll just have to come up with something even more obscure.

Bauhaus spring to mind as a possibility, but I wouldn't have a clue what the song was.
Ded - you'd better get in there quick before someone else looks up the answer .......

OK, I'm calling time.
The tune was "Axe Victim" by Be-Bop Deluxe.
We'll see how this one does:

Was that not the B-Side to "Waterloo" by Abba? Complete with the blood curdling screams.

We weren't that lucky...
"Axe Victim" was the title track of their first LP, which was a little too glam-damaged to be completely original. Their later LPs were great, and they even managed to notch up a UK hit single with "Ships in the Night" before calling it a day.

As for the current one, here's some more:
"Sad courage claimed the victims leading every single one. A dewdrop can exalt us like the music of the sun."
It should be clear to folks by now that this is a prog band.

If it is a prog rock song then I understand why you are in misery

Well, jeepers! I guess I'll have to take it.
It's Yes's "Close to the Edge".

OK, another hint: The keyboard player liked to wear capes and was once caught eating a curry on stage during a spotlight moment. He's also made several solo albums.

It certainly sounds like Rick Wakeman - and if it's not Yes, as guessed by EDE, then the only other band I can think of that he was in was The Strawbs. But since I know nothing of their oeuvre that's as far as I'd get.
Unless of course OM didn't notice EDEs post, since they were both done at the same time........
