This is a pretty recent song. One more line then I'll try a new one:
"I could be fake, I could be stupid..."

You already got the name John. "Just Like You" is the name. I believe the band is relatively new, this being either their first or second album. Their name starts with a number, then a reference to time and ends with elegance and beauty of movement or expression.

That's Credence Clearwater Revival, "Bad Moon Rising".
GREAT song!
(At least I think it is...)

Oh, I knew I'd be kicking myself when I saw the answer to that one. It was right on the tip of my tounge. CCR had tons of great songs!

Just in case HWW had another song in mind, I'll wait for him to confirm my guess.
And I agree Matt, CCR totally rocked!

Mine are always a little easier, but here it goes:
"I woke up this morning and grabbed myself a beer!"

Wow, in a matter of minutes! Nicely done, Matt! I knew it would be easy, but I'm still impressed.
You're up!

That's "The Weight" but it could be by a number of artists. The original recording, IIRC, was by The Band.

That's correct. Aretha Franklin did a pretty good cover of it, but that's the only one I know of off-hand.

The Wallflowers also did a cover recently.
"Quite some time, I been sittin' it out, Didn't take no chances, I was a prisoner of doubt."

I thought there were some fans of this group here. Okay, another line:
"What the winner don't know...the gambler understands..."

You got it Numf, even with the extra 'For You' in there. Next to Pink Floyd, Heart is my favorite group and I'm glad I actually got to see them in concert at least once.
Next one to you.

"All in all it's just another bri...." Okay, maybe not.
I don't know how easy you want it, but this was the first lyric that came into my head. I don't think it's easy, but then you got my The Law question right, so this might be far too easy for you.......(nothing to do with the Law)
“If I could touch the crystal silence, That we have after making love, Just to tell you I need you here, In the glow of the stars above…”
Hic!

"...If you ever leave, or deceive, Or fool around, You could be right, You could be wrong, But you know I'll miss you when you're gone...."
I know it's only been a day, but I'll give you a clue.
It's from a solo album by one of the members of Deep Purple (and you don't get it if you just start naming members of DP - at least give me the album as well).
Hic!
