Sensor takes away Cal's sense of taste, leaving her a broken, helpless woman.

Let's see, on the one hand we have Laurel Kent who is naked and impervious to bullets. On the other hand we have Mentalla who can make anyone do anythingnshe darn well pleases. Pretty simple choice.

on the way to the match, Calamity King accidentally spills glowing purple paint all over his body. The xenophobe Andromeda thinks he is an alien and is too horrified to touch him and flies away leaving Calamity king as the winner.

Gates just wins somehow.

See, I am thinking that Konk! is uniquely empowered to take out a powerful telepath. She detaches her head and sends it off into the arena. Saturn Girl scans the minds in the crowd looking for Konk! While she does this the body, which she cannot control until she finds the head, casually walks up and knocks Imra on her hussy ass!


Once Sun Boy engulfs Brainy's force field in an inferno, it will only be a matter of seconds before the air in the bubble heats up enough to make Brainy pass out.


I'm counting on Blast-Off to be faster than any chemical reaction Condo can get going.


Oh, and fogot to copy you comments on the Streaky vs. Lume battle. My thought: A Kryptonian cat is still just a cat. Anyone who has ever teased a cat with a flashlight should be able to predict the outcome of this battle.

I saw Brainny using the force field to contain Sun Boy until HIS air ran out.

GROUP A – THE UNCANNY AMAZERS

1. Wildfire vs. Lightning Lad (Proty persona)
Tough match up. But, I would think that Lightning Lad would win simply because he knows he could use the full force of his powers on Wildfire without really hurting him, yet still destroy the suit and win the match.

2. White Witch vs. Leviathan (Gim)
The White Witch should have some basic combat spells ready (sleep for example) that Gim would be too slow to react to.

3. Bouncing Boy vs. Insect Queen (Lana)
What in the world are these two still doing here? Let's see, how could Insect Queen win this one? She could turn into a grasshopper and dropkick Chuck across the world. She could turn into a spider and spin a web that Chuck will bounce into getting stuck. Oh, let's just get nasty and say she turns into a big 'ol wasp with a nice long stinger just waiting for an overinflated Chuck to bounce right into her. Ewwww.

4. Superboy (Kon-El) vs. Magnetic Kid (Pol)
I gotta' think that Pol's magnetism should be more powerful than the kid's tactile telekenesis. Let's give this one to Magnetic Kid .

GROUP B – THE FANTASTIC INCREDIBLERS

1. Gas Girl vs. Power Boy (Jed)
Go away already, Jed! Gas Girl turns into a sleeping gas that puts Power Boy out to sleep while the big dufus is still trying to figure out why super strength won't get him into the Legion.

2. Streaky the Super-Cat vs. Kid Quantum (Jazmin)
Streaky uses its (is it a boy or a girl, anyway?) super-breath to freeze Jazmin in her tracks. Just as she is about to go in for the kill, something else grabs her attention. She then completely ignores Jazmine and flies off to do something much more important. These kind of things are really beneath cats anyway. Kid Quantum wins by default.

3. Tyroc vs. Element Lad (preboot)
Tyroc readies for battle by using his invisible force field yell (AAAAIIYOUUEEE), his super strength yell (IIEEEEEYAYAYAYA), his super mind focusing yell (AAOOOOOGGAAAA), and his yell of super-intelligence(YODALADYHOOO). Element Lad transmutes his lips together with super glue.

4. Tellus vs. Duplicate Boy

Duplicate Boy - "Uhhhh, I could, like, use Lightning Lad's powers and zap the fish. Or, dude, I could, uhhh use Mon-El's powers and become really strong. No, that might not work. Uhhhh, I know I'll use that Light Girl chick's powers and make him float away. Dude, that'll be cool."

Tellus - "Go to sleep."

GROUP C – THE MIGHTY INVINCIBLES

1. Shrinking Violet (preboot) vs. Superboy (Kal-El)
Remember when Shrinking violet became really small and went up Superboy's nose to get to his brain? Well, it doesn't work this time. Superboy's already seen Mon-El fall for the diminutive one's tricks. He freezes the air around him with his super-breath until Vi gets frozen solid.

2. Invisible Kid (Lyle) vs. XS
Lyle just waits about thirty feet in the air for XS to slow down, just enough for him to go in for the kill.

3. Mentalla vs. Sensor
Now I would have had Mentella going over just about anyone in this tournament, except Sensor. Mentella seemed to have to rely on some sort of visual aid in order for her power to work properly. Sensor could easily disorient Mentella enough to give a big ol' THWACK across the head with her tail.

4. Ultra Boy vs. Spark

A tough fight, but Utra Boy's smart enough to wiat until Spark is getting tired before he dares let down his invulnerability. A little Ultra-speed combined with a little Ultra-strength and we have an Ultra-winner.


GROUP D – THE AVENGING DEFENDERS

1. Chemical King vs. Element Lad (postboot)
Chemical King has an answer for anything E-Lad throws at him. An intertron wall? no problem, everything has to rust sometime. A sleeping gas? Slow it down long enough to move to some fresh air. The two fight to a draw for a long time, one never gaining an advantage over the other. After a few billion years Element Lad just goes mad and deletes the varient.

2. Brainiac 5 vs. Dawnstar
Brainiac 5's only hope is to trap Dawnstar in his force-field. Dawnstar is too quick for him, however, and she is able to knock him down with one swift punch to the jaw.

3. Saturn Girl vs. Calamity King
Shortly before leaving to go to the arena, CK was ironing his nelly cap with his Space-Iron 3000 (TM). He accidentally left the Iron's setting on high and on the sink counter which was full of water due to his cleaning the paint off of his skin from the last match. The night before, CK had accidentally tripped over the cord to the Space-Fridge-O-Matic 3000 (TM), unplugging it causing his supply of Cheeses From Around The Galaxy (TM) to get warm and smelly. Well, anyway, just as the match is about to start, a small Xanthian space rodent, attracted by the smell of the now-warmed cheese, works its way into the hotel room and starts to search for the food when it accidentally knocks over the Space-Iron into the sink causing the power system of the hotel and the surrounding area to overload and knock out power in the entire city. The arena goes pitch black just as CK and Imra are about to have their match. In the ensuing confusion, a food vendor selling banyo fruits accidentally stumbles in the dark on the bottom step, hurling his wares into the air. One banyo fruit lands just a few feet in front of Imra. Saturn Girl slips and falls breaking her arm in three places. She is rushed to the medic and Calamity King is declared the winner by default.

A quick 'port to the other side of the planet and Supergirl is out of the competition. Winner - Gates

I agree with the suit-ripping hypothesis (though we really HAVEN'T seen that in the postboot yet.

Poor Gim. Mysa says: How may I defeat thee? Let me count the ways... one one thousand, two one thousand...

3. Bouncing Boy

He can inflate and knock those bugs right off!

4. Magnetic Kid (Pol)

I give this to pol in an upset. Tactile telekinisis versus Brallian magnetism. I see it as a matter of will, and I think Pol has the will to pin Kon, though his invulnerability will keep him kicking. Pol will have a headache in the morning, though!


GROUP B – THE FANTASTIC INCREDIBLERS

1. Gas Girl

How about the battle of the strange? Gas Girl just because I want another female to advance.

2. Kid Quantum (Jazmin)

Much as I would love to see Streaky advance, she's in a q-bubble for the next 24 hours. Ain't nothin can be done.

3. Element Lad (preboot)

What chu talkin bout, Jan? The more battle-competent Jan drops inertron on his head.

4. Tellus

Minor upset for Tellus. I see him being more parcticed with his psionic powers. Those usualy are harder to duplicate and use effectively.

GROUP C – THE MIGHTY INVINCIBLES

1. Superboy (Kal-El)

Oh, Vi. Would that there were something you could do.

2. Invisible Kid (Lyle)

Lyle taks his time invisibly preparing the flypaper to stick it to Jenni.

3. Sensor

The new bad-ass Sensorsnake bitchslaps Mantalla to the ground and sits on her face.

4. Ultra Boy

Invulnerability allows Jo to get in close, and when Ayla has to rest for a sec, ultra-speed and ultra-strength allows him to finish her. Unless she's sneaky. But I don't see Ayla being that sneaky.


GROUP D – THE AVENGING DEFENDERS

1. Chemical King

Jan gets distracted by air moving around him.

2. Brainiac 5

What a stalemate battle. Still, I see the force field giving Brainy enough time to think up a victory.

3. Calamity King

Um... CK drops a ceiling tile on the Shameless Hussy.

4. Supergirl

Kara bonks the bug on the head.

1. Wildfire vs Lightning Lad (Proty persona)

Proty distracts Drake by telling him the story of how he used to be an amorphous ball too, but got a real body! Then he lightnings the suit.

2. White Witch vs. Leviathan (Gim)

Mysa hits him with a "frank evaluation of your popularity as a character" spell. Gim goes and bawls in a corner.

3. Bouncing Boy vs. Insect Queen (Lana)

Chuck bounces in a spider web. Can't bounce any more.

4. Superboy (Kon-El) vs. Magnetic Kid (Pol)

Kon tells Pol, "You're nothing but a second-rate Cosmic Boy clone." Pol points out the obvious, and takes him down.


GROUP B – THE FANTASTIC INCREDIBLERS

1. Gas Girl vs. Power Boy (Jed)

She's a natural to win against physically-powered opponents who have to breathe.

2. Streaky the Super-Cat vs. Kid Quantum (Jazmin)

Turns out Jaz is incredibly allergic to cats, and Streaky advances via sneezing fit!

3. Tyroc vs. {B]Element Lad (preboot)[/B]

Jan surround Troy with soundproof insulation.

4. Tellus vs. Duplicate Boy

Finally someone smart enough to beat Ord!

GROUP C – THE MIGHTY INVINCIBLES

1. Shrinking Violet (preboot) vs. Superboy (Kal-El)

She tries the eardrum thingie, but gets caught in his invulnerable ear wax.

2. Invisible Kid (Lyle) vs. XS

Jenni can react very quickly, which I think can make up for the invisibility of her opponent.

3. Mentalla vs. Sensor

Sensor casts an illusion to make herself think she's won.

4. Ultra Boy vs. Spark

Ayla is resourceful enough to trick him into dropping his invulnerability long enough to lightning him.

GROUP D – THE AVENGING DEFENDERS

1. Chemical King vs. Element Lad (postboot)

Condo mopes around about how he's worthless and useless in battle. Jan convinces him to kill himself.

2. Brainiac 5 vs. Dawnstar

Brainy says before the match, "Hey, I bet I can enhance your powers!" and Dawny falls for it.

3. Saturn Girl vs. Calamity King

Imra's thought-casting powers go haywire, and she is trampled by a herd of camelephants she calls to the arena!

4. Supergirl vs. Gates

She can knock him out before he even gets through one of his portals.
