Jungle King organized tryouts for his Legion of Super-Monsters (rejecting the spinner and the gas monster).

The LSV had tryouts at least once, when Dynamo Boy took over the Legion and transformed it into a villainous organization. They rejected Golden Boy, Polecat, Tusker, and Animal Lad.

The Emerald Empress had tryouts/initiations of a sort when she re-formed the Fatal Five... though I don't recall her actually rejecting anyone unless you count her brief "open call" aboard the prison ship.

The Legion of Super-Monsters was one of the ones I was thinking of. I hadn't considered the Empress's Five, but I believe it counts. The LSV was another one I was counting, though not in virtue of the Dynamo Boy story (those tryouts were still officially "LSH" tryouts, even if the organization had been corrupted to villainous purposes). I was thinking instead of the v3 LSV's sending Tusker and Eyeful Ethel to Bismoll to prove their worth.

The third example I had in mind was the Legion of Super-Pets, which put Proty II through the "Super-Tests of the Super-Pets".

Next question is yours, Calybos!

What Science Police officer gave him/herself the assignment of guarding Legion headquarters in its presumed vacancy, and who did he/she find was in fact keeping an eye on it?

That's correct, though Chuck Taine was without his bouncing powers when that story opened...he was Bouncing Boy again at its conclusion, though.

You're up, IB!

Of course anyone can answer! However, at the moment we'll have to wait for Invisible Brainiac to pose the next question ...

Which Legionnaires decided not to join their teammates on Summer World, and what reasons were given for their absences?

6 Legionnaires down, 1 more to go. Oh, and why weren't Brainy, Gates, Umbra and M'On not interested? Somewhat more specific reasons were given for each.

Bloody hell...

Brainy and Gates had other matters to attend to
M'onel and Umbra were too busy socialising with each other to worry about socialising with the others.

Close enough?????

You got all the Legionnaires, so I'll give the Q to you.

Thunder was on-leave, presumably back in the future.

M'On and Umbra were "on patrol" together, though some of the others commented that they didn't go because they hated crowds.

Gates chose to use his vacation time to visit Brainy on the Outpost; Brainy just didn't want to go and Lyle gave him a whole bunch of projects to attend to instead.

All righty - how did Sun Boy know that Lightning Lad was a fake when it was assumed he had come back from the dead after being killed by Zaryan the Conquerer in ADVENTURE 304?

Not too well. I had to do some research on a few, and about four stumped me. They were pretty fun, though.

When The Emerald Eye possessed the whole Legion in the reboot, some of its members were able to break free and reassert their free will. Additionally, a handful of their allies remained free. Name eight Legionnaires and allies who were not under the Eye's complete mental domination during the battle on the satellite.

This is just the 8 characters on the Satellite right IB? Not people like Marla Latham who were unaffected but back at the base?

If so - then it was definitely...

Saturn Girl, Apparition, Inferno and Shvaughn Erin

and then I think it was also...

Kinetix, Gates, M'onel and Violet herself?

You got the right idea, Blacula. You also got 7 of the characters I was thinking of. I think Violet would count as well, though I didn't count her. Brainiac 5 was also able to free himself from the Eye's control.

Since you named 8, you get the next Q.
