You know, I wasn't thinking of post-boot, but I've got to give it to Blacula, since that's certainly a valid answer to the question.
What I had been thinking of was in the story where a bunch of Legionnaires are stranded on a faraway asteroid after Chameleon Boy's illegal invasion of Khundia. Timber Wolf and Saturn Girl went to the ship to get a spare costume, and lo and behold, it was a new one.
Take it away, Blacula.

OK hope I've got a new question for this thread but at 104 pages its gonna be hard to tell - What poor lonely creature, the last of its species, did the Legionnaires mercilessly slaughter because they decided its life wasn't as important as someone else's? (In case you can't tell this is one of my least favourite Legion stories ever! )

I think of I've heard of this one before... It was some sort of energy beast... a radiation beast maybe?

I'm pretty sure it was the Titanian psycho-beast, but I'll have to look it up to be sure.

I'm guessing Blacula's referring to Element Lad/Progenitor at the end of Legion Lost.

Chaim, the psycho-beast story is in Superboy/LSH #235. It fits Blacula's clue exactly, but we'll wait for confirmation.

No way CMK - Legion Lost is one of my favourite ever Legion stories!
Lancesrealm got it - it was indeed the poor Titanian Psycho-Beast who was murdered by Brainiac 5 so that they could bring Wildfire back to life. What a whack story!

lance, you're right...but the ending of Legion Lost fits the clues as well, with just a little bit of stretching. Allow me to parse:
What poor lonely creature, Element Lad was lonely for billions of years, and his loneliness led to his madness the last of its species, I trust I don't need to explain why this applies to Jan? did the Legionnaires mercilessly slaughter Well, Live Wire did kill him, and electrocution doesn't sound to merciful to me. because they decided its life wasn't as important as someone else's? Here's where my answer breaks down...they decided his life wasn't as important as everyone else's.
Nonetheless, I can't disagree that Blacula meant the psycho-beast.

Gosh - when you put it like that CMK I can kinda see how Element Lad could be a (sort of) viable answer to my question.
If I had been talking about Legion Lost though then my question would have seemed unnecessarily vague ("its" rather than "his" for Jan for example) and, as you mention, the line "because they decided its life wasn't as important as someone else's" would have been a strange way of interpreting the scene where Garth killed Jan in more-or-less self defence.
I like alternative interpretations of things but in this case lancesrealm did get the correct answer.

OK, here's one:
Name three Legion-universe characters who could change their forms, at will, from matter to energy and vice versa.

If memory serves:
Quantum Queen of the Wanderers, Quanto of the Taurus Gang, and Lazon of the League of Super-Assassins.
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

Next question:
Which Legionnaires were lost in Limbo after the LSV War, and what did they find there?

It was Cham, Elemental Lad, Shrinking Violet, Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl. As I don't have the next issue I have no idea what they found.
Maybe God.

Well, he meant to use it to destroy Tyrraz, which was about to invade the Milky Way. Still, unleashing a Sun-Eater is not exactly the best of ideas, regardless of one's motives.
Let's see what a new player can bring to the game: PolarBoy, come on down!
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

Since I know I got this right, I'll just go ahead without waiting for Polar Boy's affirmation:
Who was Circe the protege of for much of her career?

Chief Wilson? obviously not Zendak, and it would have been just like the Bierbaums to link her to the Silver Age top cop.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.
