Correct, sir.
Proty II first appeared in the story "The World of Doomed Olsens", from Jimmy Olsen # 72 (Oct., 1963)--the story in which Jimmy is awarded his honorary membership in the Legion. In fact, reference is made in that story to the fact that Proty II is a replacement for the original Proty.
Take it away, friend!
"Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction, 'I served in the United States Navy.' "
-- President John F. Kennedy, Annapolis, 1963

In what story did we see all the male Legionnaires wearing shorts, and all the female Legionnaires wearing pleated skirts? Except one.

Would that be the Dark Circle rebel-infiltration story in Action Comics # 390-391?

Nope - most of the girls were in swinsuits/bikinis, not pleated skirts

True, but I'm having a hard time thinking of when else post-boot all the guys wore shorts.
When I see the answer (if I don't get it first) I just know I'll be slapping my head.

The Swan-tribute issue, perhaps? I don't remember if the guys actually wore shorts.

There's a semi-sorta connection there, EDE, but it's not from either Lgs 61 or LSH 105

I know!
It was from the World War II issue - another timewarp issue similar to the Swan issue, later revealed to be a Time Trapper gimmick, where the legionaires are a young-JSA-type group!
that may have been Legionaires 54, if memory is working... don't have those issues handy at the moment.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Nope. Only Imra & Lu were wearing skirts there. Colossal Girl (Vi) wasn't, and none of the guys were in shorts. Clue: Cos wore pink

Legionnaires Annual # 3? With the "Legionnaires" in question being Ultra-Man, Behemoth, Ava the Avatar and Metallica (plus XS, who would be the one non-skirt-wearine female Legionnaire)?

Would it be the crazy lil'Legion Brainiac 5 and the Time Trapper (Clarence) visited in LSH #100? This probably isn't accurate, but it's the only instance I can recall where most of the Legion were in shorts and skirts!
This is a toughie, SoM. I know I'm going to kick myself too when the answer is found.

E-gads! I didn't think that was it. You saved me a nasty kicking, SoM. I can think of two times, preboot, that Chameleon Boy has been killed. Can you identify both these instances?

By the Mask Man, in "Doom of the Super-Heroes".
And the SW6 version was killed when Grinn blew the underground chambers.

What does Chameleon Boy disguise himself as in his first appearance?

He changed into a talking tree. (I had to look this up.)

Yep.
I was actually going to ask for his first three disguises, but figured that would be a bit harder than I wanted, plus I'm pretty certain there's some non-Archived stories in which he helps Superboy protect his secret identity which would technically qualify.
For the record, the first three I found were the talking tree, the newlywed bride, and the driller beast from the LSM story. For a power that would seem easy to come up with uses for, it really didn't get used much in the early days.

I think it's less a matter of not finding use for it than of juggling a large number of Legionnaires into either a story that didn't really feature them in the first place, or into an 8-page story. Chameleon Boy - as well as any other individual Legionnaire except the founders - just didn't get much face time (real face or otherwise) back then.

OK, here we go...a two-parter
1) There have been (at least) 3 Legionnaires who have suffered some type of mental breakdown. Name them.
2) Also, there have been (at least) 2 more who were suspected of becoming mentally or emotionally unfit for duty. Name them.
That's 5 Legionnaires total, and all of these situations are pre-TMK.

1) Brainiac 5, Matter-Eater Lad and Lightning Lad.
2) Sun Boy and...Colossal Boy, during the Tarik the Mute story?
