Oh, and I would not have counted Tenzil's gender switches. He was not actually disguised as a member of the opposite sex, he actually became one.

You guys are too kind. I haven't posted much on this thread (at all) because I got kind of burnt out on the old game, but I do check in once in a blue moon.
Heck, now for the hard part. I had a good one picked out last night, but would have to look it up to make sure I got it right. In the meantime, try this one. Just to make it a little harder, how about a two parter:
Which single issue of Adventure featured the most full-fledged Legionnaires?
Which single issue of Adventure featured the most supporting characters?
Sorry for being stuck in the Adventure rut, guys, but you know how I am.

Completely wrong.
Perhaps I should clarify. I'm talking about the Legion run in Adventure, issues 300-380.

Darn ! can't believe that I got Matter-Eater Lad/Lass wrong...pretty tricky!
Hmmm, if I remember right, that the Adv Comics #350 boasting the largest number of Legionnaires, am I partially right? The one that spotlighted on Dream Girl and Star Boy's reinstatement to the Legion and disguised as Sir Prize and Miss Terious.

Jim, I am going to take some wild guesses.
Most Legionnaires : Adv 310 - the Mask Man issue Most supporting characters : Adv 311 - the issue with the subs.
Am I even close?

Most Suporting Characters: Agree about the Subs issue
Most Legionnaires: I think it might have been the Universo story where Rond Vidar makes his second appearance and the Legion is outlawed (was that #356?)

yeah, that s what I was thinking of but I did not opt for it....because I kept thinking about Princess Projectra and Karate Kid being the last official member before Shadow Lass, Timber Wolf, Chemical King...I have never seen Shady or Wolf and Chemical King team up with FULL Legion roster. So either 350 or yours could be right. let's see what jim says.

Most supporting characters: Super Stalag of Space
Most full fledged Legionnaires: Invasion of the Dark Circle

the one issue with Mordru's first appearance - where Shadow Lass is....hmmm Adv. Comics #377? the one with Neal Adams (beautiful but scary) showing two hands bursting out of the vault and Superboy and Mon flying away and Shadow Lass was terrified. is that one comics you could be basing on?

No, Varalent. I wasn't counting generic background characters like the inmates of the super stalag of space. I'm talking about specific LSH supporting cast members who appeared periodically throughout Legion history.
And I think only 8 or 10 Legionnaires appeared in the first Dark Circle story: Rokk, Garth, Tinya, Luornu, K Kid, Sun Boy, Superboy, Brainy . . . I Kid and Star Boy got about 1 panel each.

No, Superboy. Only 4 Legionnaires appeared in most of that story, not counting a few flashback appearances and the 3 Legionnaires who appeared in the epilog at the end.

okay one last chance - the issue where the Legion met the Wanderers and they had to fight and it led Chameleon Boy the winner of them all. Am I close enough?

Ding! Ding! Ding! You are correct, Superboy. That was Adv. 375, which featured 25 Legionnaires. The only then-current member not to appear in that issue was Dream Girl.
Now who can answer the 2nd part of the question?

well it has to depends on what you define by "supporting characters" like you mean Honorary members, Substitute Heroes, Wanderers, Heroes of Lallor, RJ Brande, etc..would they be considered as supporting characters?
I kept telling myself that it has to be the one who often appears in Adventure Comics...so Night Girl, Lana Lang, Pete Ross, Jimmy Olsen, Ma and Pa Kents, Chief Parker...I kept thinking that it was first Mordru appearance that has many supporting characters - Ma and Pa Kents, Chief Parker, Lana Lang, Pete Ross (5)...I cannot think of any Adv that went higher than 5. Any hints?

Okay, here's a hint.
There are no less than 11 supporting characters in the issue in question. All of whom appeared at least twice in the Adventure run.

*sigh* Okay, I always try to answer these without looking things up but now I'm at my wits end. When I get home I pulling out my Adventure run and then we'll see!
Hmmmmmm, wait a minute, what about the Legion of SUper Villans Academy story? Are you counting Ron Karr, Lightning Lord, etc as supporting characters?

By supporting characters I mean Legion allies. Not 30th century citizens, sci cops, alien races, Legion rejects, etc. etc.

It's got to be an issue where the Super Pets (5) and the Subs (6) both appear but I can't think of which it would be unless it the one where they bring back Supes and Kara after Color Kid changes the Green K to Blue K.

well, that would be Adv. Comics #350 or 351...but Jim nullified that saying that it was not the answer. that one really stumped me...

Originally posted by Varalent: It's got to be an issue where the Super Pets (5) and the Subs (6) both appear but I can't think of which it would be ... V- I was thinking the same thing, but the only overlap of these two groups I found only had 4 Subs (Polar Boy, Chloro, Night Girl and Fire Lad). The issue was Adv #322, the initiation of Proty II to the Legion of Super-Pets. So that's not it, there were only 9 (4 subs + 5 pets). I may have found something promising in my digging through the Adventure run. Jim has said these folks are "supportive cast" and "Legion allies". In Adventure #356, I found more than 11 family members of the Legion team getting some cameo panel time: Mr & Mrs Kallor (Star Boy's parents) Mr & Mrs Ranzz (Lightning Lad & Light Lass's folks) Mr & Mrs Krinn, and brother Pol (Cosmic Boy's family) Mr Morgna (Sun Boy's dad) Mrs Norg (Invisible Kid's mom) Mr & Mrs Durgo (Duo Damsel's folks) (do they count as 2, or 6? ) Right there (and only counting Lu's parents as 1 each) that's eleven. There's also a shot of Mon-El's extended family (30th century descendants of his brothers & sisters). All unnamed, but there were 6 people in the panel. This was about the 5th issue I looked through after skimming covers of most of the run. I remembered the issue focused on the "Five Legion Orphans", on duty while the rest of the team celebrated "Parents' Day". Figured there would be a number of family members on hand, and there were. How's that for an answer, Jim?
