Not really sure where DnA are taking B5 at this point...he certainly showed some emotion in Lost - when he had to admit that he didn't know how to get them home and was just faking it, and when Monstress died. He actually smiled when reunited with the other legionnaires. Now, safe at home, it appears he's gone back to changing the subject and avoiding any display of emotion.
Here's a kid who was rejected by his mother, raised by robots when he wasn't raising himself - got basically sold to Brande Industries, then dumped in the Time Institute and, finally, dumped on the Legion. He loses the girl, Mom tries to kill him, and he soldiers on.
Still, it must hurt to be called an "outcast". Wouldn't he be taking some major flak from at least half the galaxy for the Computo thing? Maybe it doesn't affect him because he's beyond all that? Or is he just burying his emotions?
Personally, I'd like to see the emotions break out a bit more often - but not in the way of a pressure-cooker exploding and Brainy going crazy (again).

From his conversation with Shikari, it does seem that Brainy has reclaimed some of his previous repressed behavior. It would make sense that he wouldn't be completely changed from the events in "Lost" now that things are relatively fine and they're back home, but like they say, "still waters run deep."
I don't think DnA are going to go with the "Insane Brainy" plot again. It would be way too derivative of the preboot -- and even then, it wasn't Brainy's fault.

One that that has always bugged me is how, since the mid-'60s, writers have fallen on depicting Brainy as a Vulcan. I contend that Coluans are not without emotion.
I would rather see Brainy written as the ultimate computer nerd. Super smart and utterly lacking in social skills. Someone who may act like they don't care, but is using that as a mask to cover their true insecurities. Someone who is, in fact, actually a little hyper-emotional.
Remember too, IIRC, that Brainy is actually physically (and perhaps then emotionally) an adolescent by Coluan standards.

Brainy needs a hug. And he really does miss Koko, but won't admit that to anyone!
I, on the other hand, do not miss the Koko.

I absolutely loathe Koko. He is not welcome among my super-pets. If DnA want to bring him back to kill him off publicly, that's fine with me - even if it does break the green kid's heart. I'm not usually so callous with respect to animals, but Koko was an insult to comic-book animals.
And the awful thing is, I think he could have been written to be okay, even funny - but it was just too much of the same thing, all the time, over and over, every issue....

I would like to see more of a relationship develop between Brainy and Lyle. I think they are probably alot alike, with the main difference being that Lyle HAS the social skills that Brainy lacks. They're both really smart, but that's not ALL Lyle is. I would love to see Lyle teach Brainy how to let his hair down a little. Or they could just bring back Kara. SHE always managed to stir up a few emotions in the old Brain Boy
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

Just a loveable cold fish that needs a nice, strong, blonde gal to liven his life up a little! And as much as I don't miss Koko all over Brainy like a barnacle, I do think I miss Koko himself though. Crazy, I know.

Well, the readers haven't forgotten her. She should give up the nun-business, come back to the Legion and take up with Brainy again (not that they were ever really a couple, but you've got to start somewhere). They could bicker about religion vs science, of course.

Well, I can certainly grok this question. I really have been too much of a Brainy-type over the years and decades. Social nerditude, lack of fashion sense, repression, inner demons, the whole schmear. And I know -- as Lash LaRue said recently -- that I badly could use a hug, anyway.
(Right now. As to why, let's just say that it's not a good idea for your morale to read commentary about yourself, for the first time, long after when it was made in public.)
Don't mind me. It's been a bit wearying trying to archive two Groups myself, and coordinating the stellar crew doing all the heavy lifting in thus saving LegionPics. Damn Yahoo!. One week was not enough.

It isn't EDE.

I'm very impressed by Koko's ability to use smilies. That seems like very advanced behaviour.

Well! Here's an apology to EDE for suggesting - for even thinking - he could be the pestiferous Koko.
And here's a cyber-hug for Greybird. ( )
