That's the song CJ.
Copycats ripped off my words Copycats ripped off my songs Copycats ripped off my melody It doesn't matter what they say It doesn't matter what they do All that matters is my relationship to you
Gonna take you out Get you in my car We're going for a long long drive We're going down to A Town Called Paradise Down where we can be free We're gonna drink that wine We're gonna jump for joy In a town called Paradise
We're going up the mountainside Child you can look for miles And see the vision on the west We're gonna swing round And look from north to south Swing round from east to west And go round in a circle too And we're gonna start dancing Like we've never done before I'm gonna take you in my arms I'm gonna squeeze you tight Everything will be alright We're gonna get that squealin' feelin' Gonna take you down to a town called Paradise, Down where we can be free It doesn't matter what they say It doesn't matter what they do All that matters is my relationship to you By the river we will linger As we drive down to be free We're gonna ride all night long All along the ancient highway Gonna be there for the mornin' comes
Next question to you.

Van the Man... He's an artist I've come to appreciate more as I get older.
A tribute song to Kurt Cobain has the following lyrics:
By the Grace of God go I Into the Great Unknown Things are going to change In our favour
Name that tune and the band that wrote it.
Just spouting off.

Uh-oh, killed another thread.
Quick hint, the lead singer also suffered an untimely death.
Just spouting off.

Yeah, LL. I was listening to the cd when I came up with the question. Didn't realize I copied myself.
Just spouting off.

You hadn't mentioned the song but you had mentioned what happened to the group. Just kinda stuck in my head.
I'll post a question in a bit.

Let's try a New Wave question.
Which album by a classic New Wave artist had elephants on the cover, the words 'emotional fascist' written on the inside sleeve and included free postcards?

He was originally going to title the record "Emotional Fascism", hence the words on the inside sleeve.
Back with a question in a bit.

That sounds familiar. Didn't Clapton record a techno album using that alias?

Yeppers.
With his songwriting partner Simon Climie. It was called Retail Therapy and the band name was TDF (short for Total Disfunctional Family).
Great job, LL! Your turn.

I always wondered what TDF stood for. I'll try to post a new question later tonight.

You know, I guess I'm not really up on my rock trivia. Scanning this thread, I realized that I can answer maybe 5% of the questions (being generous).

Okay Stuey, here's a hard rock one, just for you. Who did Bruce Dickinson replace in Iron Maiden and why?

The actual reason the band gave for parting ways wit Di'Anno was his alcoholism. The rest of the group kind of forced him out.
But good enough for me. Next to you Labradorian.

this may turn out to be easy, maybe Stu will get this one. Before joining Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson sang for what band?

It was Samson, and he was known as Bruce Bruce if I'm not mistaken.

At bleedin’ last.
Since September I’ve been trying this thread, and finally a question that I can answer, and before anyone else did. Hooray!
To quote the VH1.com biography for Dickinson – “during his tenure with Samson, Dickinson went by the name Bruce Bruce.”
I believe it had something to do with the Monty Python “Bruces” sketch.
Sticking with the Samson theme then. A two part question.
1. Which vocalist replaced Bruce Bruce (Dickinson) in Samson?
2. What was the name of the band that this person subsequently formed with, amongst others, Paul Samsons sometimes co-conspirator John McCoy?

Well, no-ones even attempted an answer here for almost a week, so does that mean that I win?
Or is it just a sign of general apathy?
Anyways, for anyone that's still interested, the answers are
1. The rather excellent Nicky Moore, 2. Mammoth.
I guess I'm going to have to come up with another question now. I'll need some time to think......

Now see, I didn't even know there was a connection between Mammoth Samson.

Well, there you go.
I would heartily recommend "Before The Storm" by Samson, if you like NMs vocal talents.
