OK.
Frank Zappa, after following another band at a concert, was sufficiently "moved" by their performance to tell the crowd, "Wasn't that the worst thing you ever heard?"
Name the band he was dissing.

Nope.
Hint time: The band was, for a time, backed by a well-known artist.

I know I don't get to ask the next question but I have one anyway. Durwood and I just watched Velvet Goldmine a couple of weeks ago and we couldn't figure out who Jack Fairy was supposed to be. Near the top of our list was Lou Reed. Is that right or are we way off base?
I dig Zappa, but he had no right to diss the Underground like that. Unless they were really drugged out that night or something.

I knew The Monkeys probably wasn't right, but I remember Hendrix being upset when he was their opening act and Monkeys fans booed him off the stage.

This is probably an easy one.
What band consisted of Misters Wharton, Ferrano, Deal and Bass?

Is it clue time, already?
This is an '80s+ band. Mr. Wharton was once kicked out of the group, but later returned. Mr. Bass is no longer with them.
Misters Wharton and Bass share something else in common: They both use their middle names as their professional names.

The thing was that The Monkees loved Hendrix and were trying to bring him to wider attention, but it was just a bad fit. And while Hendrix seemed to get along fine with the Monkees as people, he dissed their music in interviews. Even if he had liked their stuff, to admit to that in the "hipper" music papers wouldn't have looked good. Ah, music business politics....

I haven't seen the film, so I couldn't be sure. But just because I'm that kind of guy, I'll throw out the name Marc Bolan (of T. Rex fame) and see if that rings any bells for you.

I'm confused: Are both Dev and Lab going to ask a new question? Or is Lab subbing for Dev?

Just a guess: Sixx Guns?
Traci Guns was a founding member and namesake of Guns N' Roses.
