You got it, OM! GFR's hits included "Closer to Home" and "Bad Time," which were the clues I oh so subtly wove into my previous posts.

"The shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner! The bone-rattling bass of Mel Schacher! The competent drumming of Don Brewer!"
-- Homer Simpson extols the virtues of his favorite band.
Back in a few with a question.

OK, switching gears a tiny bit....
What song has been called "the Stairway To Heaven of Goth"?

The only Goth song I know (or knowingly know) is "The Dope Show" by Marilyn Manson -- if that's considered goth. So that's my vote.

That's not the one.
The song might be of interest to a participant in this thread with an interest in a certain type of creature of the night.

Another good choice, but no.
Clue #2: The band in question reunited for a tour a few years ago, which was easy for them, since three of the four were already in another band together.

OK, this sound like Bauhaus. Three members were susbsequently in Love & Rockets. Haven't a clue what song it might be, though.

Assuming that my Bauhaus guess is correct, I'm further extrapolating that the song is "Bela Lugosi's Dead."

Your extrapolations have paid off, HWW, as that is indeed the answer.

Amazing what a little research will do. Next Q: Born in 1944, Joachim Krauledat was the son of a German army officer who was killed in action before he was born. What did Joachim eventually change his name to and what group did he form?

John Kay and Steppenwolf. Sounds like an alternative universe version of Roger Waters, though.

Yes, that is an interesting parallel with Waters, isn't it?

Yep. The pseudonym he used while working with the Bonzo Dog Band.

He wrote "Born To Be Wild" for Steppnwolf and I believe played guitar for them in their early days. I think he's the brother of one of the other guys, but the name isn't coming to me right now.

You got it. Dennis, by the way, was the guitarist of Sparrow, the band that evolved (without him) into Steppenwolf. He was also the brother of Sparrow/Steppenwolf drummer, Jerry Edmonton.
