I've often wondered that, too. smile I suppose it depends on how she defined "making it."

By the way, I once came across that review while doing research in a library. It's in the Rolling Stone issue of October 1, 1970. The author of that infamous remark was Melissa Mills.

Never heard of her.

I've never read the actual review either; I just remembered it being mentioned in an article about the band.

And now, the question:

What is Buddy Holly's full real name?

I have two rock encyclopdias which mention that quote. How would you like to go down in history as the band that drove a reviewer to threaten suicide? smile

By the way, I believe Buddy's surname was originally spelled Holley.

That depends. Who's the reviewer?

It was. But Lab got the gist of it, so I'm awarding the next go to him.

Isn't Heep usually listed as the main inspiration for Spinal Tap? This anecdote seems to fit well with that somehow...

Dang - I can think of a number of tunes Zep swiped from other artists, but not from themselves.

2 seperate albums from the 70's. both over 5 mins long.
I dont know how to give a clue without maybe giving it away.
but then again it may be more difficult then i thought. I dont think you can look this up on yahoo, but ahhhhhh fuck it
clue 1
The song they basically rip off( and i dont mean words and everything, its jsut basically the same song) is SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU, whats the rip off called
clue 2
i guess Led Zep had to have their presence felt.

I didn't expect to know the answer since I'm not that big of a Zep fan. But it looks like you've stumped everyone else, too, Labby!

What say we declare you the victor of this round, and you post the answer and the next question?
